Yeah, I am theorizing that some fireball characters have a window during fireball animation where they are vulnerable to kd by greenhand. All EXGH kd’s are techable so that isn’t a factor. For Sakura the counterhit pops up; Dan is still grounded and looks like in the act of throwing the fb but no counterhit message. Guile and Deejay have been confirmed to be counterhits during their fb recovery (which is shorter than regular fb recovery, so that may make sense). While Sagat and Ryu have been deconfirmed for ch status after fbs. Seems character specific maybe.
Yo fellow Zangief players, I am not a Zangief player at all but I just had a thought about AE Gief and had this idea that Ultra 2 might be the Ultra of choice now for the specific reason that EX GH doesn’t knockdown. Think about it for a sec, you can control Ultra 2 during the animation now and backdashes are now airborne on at least 1 frame and if they jump away you’ll catch them with the ultra. So their only option now is to do a reversal or block which means free SPDs, pressure, baiting, wasting meter etc.
I don’t know if this would work or be a possibility because one, I don’t main Gief and two I haven’t played AE but I’m sure Ultra 2 would be a smart decision to use as your ultra of choice. Obviously against characters that can teleport Ultra 1 would be better but just tell me if it’s a good idea, what flaws it might have. This is me helping you guys anyway lol.
Makes sense to me, man. Would beat most reversal special moves too, since most are airborne and not invincible long enough to escape. But that’s only after closer ex hand, I think. I don’t know if u2 would reach after ex hand from buffered lp/lk in footsies, but considering that nothing else does, I doubt it.
Apparently the range of which U2 grabs you has drastically increased as well which is why I thought it’d be viable. Heh it was just a thought anyway lol.
Though I doubt it, there is always the outside chance that trade lariat could land U2. Although I think U2 is considered a grab and as such wouldn’t factor into a juggle. Only mention it because DJEric Darkside mentioned a rumor about AA EXGH to U2.
Also, saw a video of a Sagat player getting hit on Tiger shot animation by a sonic boom, it was a counter hit. I will try to find the video, I think this is major news against projectile characters.

U2 has better range? Sweet. I already use it regularly enough so this buff is fantastic.
Played a few hours of AE today, and I gotta say Gief just has an overall better feel to him

Wasn’t able to test too much, mostly was trying to test and get used to the new Light SPD range
I got a good 8+ throws I think that wouldn’t have worked in the old games at all, and 2 of them I confirmed that they didn’t stick out a limp because they said they where walking back assuming I was out of range and trying to bait it
Damage on Fierce SPD looks to be about 250 or even 260
Maybe it was just me, but standing MK felt like the hit box sat out there much longer almost like Dudley’s Fierce or Ryu’s old Low Forward
The timing felt much more lenient to stuff fireballs
Oh and speaking of Ryu, the new low forward isn’t near as pesky as it used to be, thank god
Also the Cr.LK’s into each other definently still felt like a one frame link
Again, all this could just be in my head
Gonna be there all day tomorrow, hope to figure more stuff out, especially what I can do off of EX GH and controlling Ultra 2

IMO removing kd from ex gh is a buff. Gives opp less time to think about what to do next. Saw this first hand today and was just appalled by Zangief. With his new gh as well as his retarded lp spd range buff, I will definitely be picking this character up.

Played Gief In AE Yesterday and I noticed that blocked ex green hand pushes you back and away from grab range but you can still be punished by normals
and yea Fierce spd would be 250 if I had to guess
and I Notcied any fireball character getting hit while theyre recovering from their frieball is always Counter hit
Wait, I remember reports at loctests saying Giefs short jump was actually more noticeable.

Something from last night that bothers me though about Yun
I would knock him down, jump for cross up splash and do 2 or 3 shorts, if I see that they where blocked I did roundhouse know he was going to jump away…
…which he did, but the problem was some how Yun’s jump back just escaped, the roundhouse whiffed 0_o
Same scenario I tried strong, and that was even a bigger whiff
I might need to test this more some how, but this is one thing about the Yun match up I’ll hate if he’s able to jump away like that
I’ll have to just not go for shorts/jabs and go straight for the roundhouse if that’s the case, pretty unsafe
You sure? I thought it was when you hit their start up. That would mean, you can do it on reaction and get the knockdown when you hit them while they recover?
U2 post EX GH is going to own a lot of people. The VAST majority of people’s options post EX GH are going to include jumping back, back dashing, or reversal pick your favorite invincible startup special all of which lose to the Blizzard. I’ve watched Itabashi use it to devastating effect and I think that’s going to be the largest takeaway from the current changes.
This new EX Hand will have me playing Gief as I usually play him… With better options
Knockdown on FB recovery is dope. I don’t even use OS Hand so I don’t care about it in that regard.

I think ch kd on recovery is just for guile and deejay. Other characters seem to get knocked down during active frames. Possibly they extended active frames so more chs will be happening. I posted some vids of exgh kds vs fireballs on the last page.
Still haven’t seen an exgh kd vs rose, chun, akuma, sagat, ryu, ken, gouken… but the evidence of ch during active frames of fbs is out there.
