SSF4 AE: Revenge of the Orbs

I tried to do that trick every match against a Blanka, just for major mindfuck and stylepoints. Walk up when he walks up too, get him to slide and just throw him when he whiffs completely. Superb.

New match-up thread: SSF4 AE Rose Match-up Thread

BlueFalcon brought up a great idea, suggesting that we can discuss a character per week, to keep the thread organized. As far as how we can do the match-ups, there’s always alphabetical order, or we can choose from her hardest ones, and go our way down from there. What does everyone think?

Hardest first. You’re going to meet way more Yuns than Abels, Adons, or Akumas.

I had a non-stop stream of Yuns last night, most of them weren’t good, but there was one 1000 odd BP Yun (with experience from the arcade, I should think) and I was completely freeeeeee.

After finally playing a bit of Rose last night, she doesn’t feel any different at all. U2 still fine as I figured since I stopped using it for a braindead defensive option. Still gonna play her along with Cody/Yang though.

I don’t get the change to her s.mk. From the images it looks like it shouldn’t hit at the tip but it still does?

And is it just me or does c.hp xx lp spark fadc u2 not work anymore? My execution might just be shit today I dunno. Also isn’t c.lk U2 meant to work?

Also anyone know any setups/safe jumps off of throws or ST or anything?

Correct the c.hp xx lp spark fadc u2 does not work anymore. They changed the frame data on U2 from 1+4 to 0+7.

The orb’s hitbox got smaller? wtf?

The reason why spark fadc u2 doesn’t work is because U2 becomes active when the orbs aren’t on the opponent anymore.

And yes, orbs hitbox got smaller, I can vouch for that.

that’s probably why im getting such mixed results against opponents with low hitboxes(yun T_T) when i do meaty orb crossup with ST on wakeup.

Yup the orbs got way smaller Hit Boxes. i had them out and a number of chars were able to stuff them with stuff that they werent able to in Super.

I froget the name of the Twins rolls they do on the ground, but that move stuffed my U2 a lot with it out across screen.

With the U1 buff on its frames (as posted before) i find it easier to land and much better like it was in Vanilla. Guess that extra inv frame helps a ton.

I haven’t tested it yet but are you saying even ex spark fadc u2 wont work?

Vince are you talking about Yang’s DP? that thing goes through projectiles, thats why it probably beat you.

Just tested ex spark fadc u2 and it will still combo. Seems just lp spark fadc into u2 won’t work.

god i dont remember the move since i havent even tried to use a twin yet, its the one where they roll on the ground. Might be the DP, just that it went thru the ultra from half way across the screen, when in the past the orbs seemed to stuff most things. Guess it doesnt matter much since i tend not to use U2 now anway, been practicing more with U1 now a lot more.

Edit: ok looked it up, was the shoulder slam. THink yang has something simular as well. Either way both of them stuff my ultra from far away while the orbs were out spinning around me. Didnt even do a trade and its happened multiple times.

Both moves will go through projectiles so if you weren’t blocking you’ll get hit and lose the orbs.

after playing some matchups which are so bad they make me pull my hairout, I’m thinking of officially dropping rose.

not that any yang would do it but I was playing yang against a rose
and I saw him do illusionspark so I did his ultra 2 in reaction and the scarf was fully stretched during animation
and illusion won so if you see yang doing his dp (the roll then up kick move) illusion should beat that out if it beats the ultra that has the same animation

well Yang’s DP and U2 is only invincible to fireballs.

Good point out, Shin. I was playing one of my local Yang’s and I know he likes to try to DP on reaction my fireballs, so therefore I can SLIDE on reaction. Sliding on reaction is easy because of how active it is :).
