SSF4 AE: Revenge of the Orbs

if he reacts to your fireballs correctly, he should be dp’ing your recovery frames (38 frames for fireballs).

He does it when the fireball actually comes out. It’s because I like to bluff a lot with my fireball, where I do my motion and then I press one of my dead buttons (where the 3p +3k buttons is), so he feels it’s unsafe to DP. And if I do the HP one, you have to train him that you’re going to do that.

Good players just react to your animation. My friends react to the fireball animation and don’t wait for the fireball to come out since they know most of Rose’s move have ass recovery anyways. If they do that, they you’re essentially SOL. Lp Mp Hp fireballs have 52 52 53 total frames. That just makes me lol.

Trust me. If you fake them out with a couple of twist into a heavy punch and they try to DP the animation and they miss, then they will wait for the fireball.

NEVER throw out a lp fireball :(. SOO EASY.

BUT, Yang’s DP on a crouching Rose; there’s a property in it. If Rose’s is crouching, the rolling DP won’t hit Rose, so he can’t FADC it because only the hit in the air would hit. Rose’s hitbox ftw?

But yeah, reacting to the animation = not essentially what you want to do, especially if Rose has two meters :).

Yun and Yang CANNOT afford 200 damage cr. fierce spiral.

If the mix it up w/ jump ins, the onus is on you to counter them not the other way around. And you will have to rush them down. Unless you’re ok with them building a full bar in around the time it takes you to build 2.

Played against a adon and viper last night, Soul throws wiffed a few times when it should have grabbed them. Was right point blank in their face and didnt grab or anything. No clue what i did wrong but it was heart braking to see me be right in their face predicting a ST and not grabing them.

How the FUCK do you escape Yun pressure? I was in a solid room last night and was a SLITHER away from winning 3 matches against a solid player. Anyway, in every match he made a crazy comeback because I didn’t know how to get out off cross-ups and pressure. Its sad because I would’ve won if I had SSF4 Rose’s U2. Fucking nerfs.

You just have to guess right and hope to get back to a neutral situation. I would have liked to give you advice like “just block it’ll get better; the worse he can do is throw you for crap dmg” but i realized command throw makes that moot. I will say this though. Don’t backdash in this matchup. IF you have to, keep it to a bare minimum. The last thing you want is to put yourself in a corner.

If he has no meter, the command grab does bnb damage, which for Yun is a lot.

Genei Jin makes it scarier :(.

But 50/50 guessing, it’s worse vs Zangief.

Yea. I haven’t played a good gief yet but i figured if he uses ultra 2 too, then there goes are backdash or hold upback options.

I don’t think you have to rush yang down, right now I just out footsie range with him. We have so much more range than he does, as long as you’re aware of focus I think rose does really well at staying out side of his c.mk range which is very short.

honestly I’m not that bothered by yang getting meter, I obviously don’t want anyone to have it but he’s not that scary with it after fighting yun with meter yang doesn’t seem like a threat to me. However I haven’t had his super combo’ed into on me and his slashes fadc aren’t that scary to me because well his damage output isn’t that good, if he does successfully mix me up.

Yang uses hi meter so fast on FADC, but they aren’t scary.

Yun with meter is HUGE. But you have to let them have it because there’s nothing you can do :/.

I forgot did Roses u2 get a dmg nerf too? i had it out and got a combo off it and seemed like it did crap dmg with a cr mp into a spiral now. Just wondering since i was testing some stuff with it.

I don’t think so. The U2 dmg is low, no need to nerf it.

Super was
50% 1 Orb ~ 80 Dmg
100% 1 Orb ~ 120 Dmg

and i think AE is the same.

After getting a conversation going with alot of SF players I think most people would just be satisfied if rose was removed from the game.

just odd at my local tourney.

omg rose bs is so bs, look at that slide, it goes under fireballs, omg reflect fadc fireball so BS, omg reflect fireballs!!!

now you guys know why im so angry all the time :stuck_out_tongue:

I really think people who think rose is good should definitely just play a solid guile, ryu, or balrog. Then they’ll realize how hard it is to truly play rose. Unlike other characters, if they guess right on wakeup they can kill pressure with a good reversal. Secondly, the slide is only good if you hit it at the last frames. They’re just too dumb to walk forward and take the hit then stand up and throw rose. After my friend realized how negative rose’s slide is, a lot of time he just spaces himself slightly, walks forward to take slides in the face and then puts me in a throw/dp fifty fifty. Don’t get me started with the reflect. I’ve said it a thousand times. Only BADS will give you easy fireballs at full screen to absorb. High level players ONLY throw fireballs at ranges where you can’t react and reflect since it has pretty bad startup. Essentially reflect is useless if the player knows HOW to throw fireballs, which most good players learn. And slide going under fireball? LOL. Tell someone to play as ryu or guile. Then let those guys try to slide under fireballs w/o getting poked out or swept.

High leveled players still respect Rose’s normals, so they do throw fireballs from max range, especially charge players :/.

Sometimes, you have to be pre-emptive and do a reflect before the fireball comes out because you know they’re in the range where they’re going to do it.

Rose’s slide is not meant to be abused, it isn’t that great of a move. It’s not bad to maintain space, but make sure you’ll be in a range where you’re atleast -2! A lot of people DP because Rose’s have a tendency to do a move right after your slide, and that’s always a safe DP, mix it up and block low, Punish.

Remember, whiff punishing exists, don’t throw out spirals or slides that you aren’t sure will connect because you will be knocked down, and that’s not good :(.

Ryu’s are notorious for walking you in the corner. Don’t fear; keep it mid screen.

Played some casuals at a buddy’s place with air’s yang. I still don’t think it’s THAT BAD of a matchup. You can punish bad dive kicks with u1.

that’s because it isn’t a bad matchup really
sure it can be over really quick if he gets in and mixes you up
but if he doesn’t rose actually has the edge in the mid range matchup
I’m still not sold on illusion in the matchup, though I haven’t faced a yang that just dive kicks like that
I just really feel like satellites make it* feel* like a 7-3 matchup for rose in the yang players eyes

I definitely agree with Anton that in higher-level matches, you really don’t want to whiff moves such as Spirals just outside of range, because that’s going to lead to damage, and maybe even a full combo, depending on how close you end up. After slide, you can do one of three things: Block, backdash, or press a button. Adjust accordingly to what the opponent does. I really wish U2 maintained its 5f start-up, because it’s pretty much useless to combo with now. Cross-up into U2 doesn’t work, Spark FADC into U2 doesn’t work, from what Anton told me, you can only combo into U2 with CH short.
