SSF4 AE: Revenge of the Orbs

For me, my really troubling match-up is Yun…he’s definitely an offensive powerhouse. Otherwise, I’m not really having any problems with other match-ups as of yet.

you guys are optomists.

Pretty much exactly how it was for me this morning, the amount of safe pressure Yun can put on her is unreal. Now to finish this homework so I can get back at it!

Definitely agreed, he’s very frustrating to fight with. For me, it feels like she has no chance. I’ve never felt such a lopsided match-up like this in Super.

Yes U1 works better against Yun - harder for him to hit you in the tip of your head. Also, Slide trades with his dive kick.

Not sure if anyone noticed or if i was doing it wrong in Super but… Cr.lp, cr.lk, Cr.mp now combos into Heavy Soul Spiral instead of only EX and Light.

i’ve seen some people saying that they are loving her new st mk … i thought this move got its range nerfed … maybe these players didn’t really use it in super where it was great at stuffing low kicks already? seems like it is still good at that, but now it isn’t as effective as a longer range poke?

It did get its range nerfed, but its hurtbox got COMPLETELY removed from where her scarf is, so pretty much any crouching kick/slide and some punches, I’d assume, get stuffed completely. I abused slide->s.mk to HELL at certain distances, and this even stuffs pokes that wouldn’t work with that, or wouldn’t work if not spaced very well.

Pretty sure you were doing it wrong - it works in super, depending on distance.

Ok had some time to play around in a ranked with a friend.

Noticed we seem to have vanilla ultra 1 back. He was using ryu and poped out a ex fireball. My rose was as far as him scarf length but maybe a pixle or two away from snagging him, his ex fireballs still went thru me. In super they always hit me unless i was super close to him. Seems like that extra inv frame is back to the old ways.

U2 is not that good, ryu and the twins stuffed the hell out of it with ex and normals and thats not even poping it out point blank. I had it out after a knock down and they were able to stuff it or trade with me. But if someone does a high enough jump over your head and timed ok you can still pop them out and have it combo off them into a soul throw. But its only if they dont try to hit that high i guess. need to test some more.

Meter gain i didnt noticed to much, seems the same as super. But Yun is able to out meter me way faster with those damn stomps.

Sadly one thing i noticed (not sure if its a bug) when Oni does a HP SRK, if hes high and you pop out U1 like if Ryu and Ken did it, animation goes to Rose and when it goes back to Oni he was on th ground already recovered. Happened to me 5 times with my friend and either its lag from online or something is off. he said he whiffed the HP SRK.

Okay so, day 1 training room stuff:

-Pretty sure that 0+7 startup is accurate, tested it for the last couple of hours. It SEEMS like if they hit you before you recover U2 is stuffed, but if they hit you right at the end of your recovery you will trade and you keep orbs.
-Orb hit box got smaller, so lets say if you do orbs then max range c.mp xx ex spiral, one orb won’t hit. Means less damage, but you get to keep an orb for pressure…might be a good tradeoff.
-focus seems to have gotten faster, s.mk definitely seems better, can’t really tell a difference for c.mp changes so far.

Yun stuff:
-you can slide or c.mk to avoid ex Zesshou if he does it half screen or farther away. slide works better though because you can go under him and escape being pushed in the corner.
-meaty slides/max distance c.mk seem to beat everything he does on wakeup outside of ultra. Not quite sure about Genei Jin, it may go through it on startup. DP’s whiff and can be punished.

EDIT: if you do U2 right next to someone, you can actually throw them before the orbs hits them(I think you have one frame). I can’t do this in Super, someone else needs to test that.

Nice stuff you found, have you ever checked her ST to see if it got buffed? I tried looking at the distance and meter it built when whiffed, and it looked the same. The frame data could be wrong regarding that.

It does look like the range got buffed, don’t know about meter.

Ya i think her ST got buffed, i was able to use a lp st and snag someone on a wake up rather then wasting a ex st. Also seem range is a bit further, was able to snag a mak in the air where in super i know i would have missed. More testing tho.

Oh, alright, thanks. I’ll hit the lab again tomorrow and see if I can find any more things. I only tested her Spark and ST.

Edit: In terms of range, I could have been thinking of the ground distance traveled from where she used it, not how far she went into the air, probably that’s why I didn’t catch it.

i was spammng reflect from a turtle ryu, is it me or does reflect gain meter faster then super even when you dont asorb a fb?

In Super, it took 13 Whiffed Reflects to build a bar, I think. You can try comparing that in AE, and see if she builds meter faster.

Ok tried it, took 13 whiffed reflects to fill a bar, so guess it is the same. Just seemed faster.

7 whiffed soul throws filled a meter tho. How was that for super?

Good news guys. Throw Yun on your mental list along with Fei and Guy. Setup still owns his face. You HAVE to use HP ST though.
Bad news is it’s iffy on Yang. I wouldn’t do it unless i knew for a fact the PLAYER will block and not try to mash out. It was whiffing when
I was trying it at the arcades because the twins have smaller hitboxes with they crouch and probably b/c the orbs’ hitboxes got smaller making
MP ST whiff. Counting the throw, that’s at least 350+ dmg.

It’s hard to tell the ultra frames because the orbs start a new place now. It’s weird af.

I can see why what you’re saying is working though ShinkuuR
