The reason Soul Throw was not a good wake-up option has to deal with it’s range and invincibility, not range.
It’s an 8 frame wake up if I recall correctly, so it can be safe jumped. Not to mention it can only grab people OUT OF THE AIR, therefore if she is safe jumped or the soul throw just goes towards the other side, then you basically are gonna be a sitting duck for a big damage combo that’s going to put them at an advantage.
I’m gonna use it more against like Zangief and stuff tho,
I think it will be more viable in certain match-ups, especially in instances where ST lost to certain moves. As for wake-up, it has horrible recovery when whiffed, and gives your opponent a lot of time to do a damaging combo. If you really want to avoid pressure, you’re better off doing EX Spiral FADC. I thought about that, doing LP ST whiffs from full screen to build meter. Seeing one whiffed reflect builds 20, and you can usually do 2 without getting punished on your opponent’s wake-up, you’ll build the same amount of meter as you do with one ST.
The reason any version of ST is ass is because its has GRAB box and not a HIT box. As long as opponents do a move where their GRAB boxes are far back, it doesn’t matter how vulnerable it leaves them b/c ST isn’t going to punish their HURT boxes anyways. This doesn’t even bring up the fact that its slow as fuck along with the rest of Rose’s move set. That pretty much means ROSE is an absolute JOKE on wakeup and you could probably safe jump her with your eyes closed by holding upforward after an untechable knockdown and delaying your move.
Anyone able to try and see if the new ST range can grab people on a dash back on a wake up? like if a ryu is super close and decides to dash back a lp ST can grab him since all dash backs are airborn now?
I don’t understand why U2 would become 7 frames startup, which will make FADC combos very hard or even impossible. The idea was to make it an offensive tool, with current data it has no combo-ability (except for EX spark FADC, but why not use U1 then?) and only some mixup-ability, but none better than in Super and I found that to be pretty restricted and unreliable anyway.
I actually play AE and I’m sure its not 7 frames.
I activated U2 and got hit from oni’s hado but still has the orbs. it’s strange, we have to test it again
Edit: I’m sure rose U2 is a 4 Frame Ultra! I tested it with 2 Roses,
Rose 1 recorded to use U2 and block after the activation.
Rose 2 cMP with Turbo and I got a Trade.
Rose 1 got hit by Rose 2 crouch MP, Rose 2 got hit by Rose 1 U2 AND Rose 1 still has one Orb left!
Edit2: Jump In > Ultra 2 - Got hit by a jumping LK from Ken, both orbs are gone.
Some Specials = Ultra 2 - Got hit by a hado from oni, both orbs are still there.
Ground Normals = Ultra 2 - Got hit by Rose crouch MP, both orbs are still there.
I think a few attacks can’t kill ur orbs in the startup, but we already know that from AE footage…
After finally getting to play AE the U2 change does indeed suck as much ass as everyone who had played it said. Also I have no idea what to do against Yun with Rose, ended up going back to Chun and had at least a little success against him.
Not gonna give up on Rose though, just gotta learn to deal.
From the few Yun/Yangs I’ve played against, U1 works amazingly against their dive kicks. If I remember correctly, their hitbox is INSIDE their hurt box, so their dive kicks shouldn’t be beating out U1 unless they cross you up or if you time it badly.
I could be wrong, though.
Also, I’m loving her new s.mk. Characters whose best pokes are crouching kicks get absolutely destroyed by it. Shoto matches are going to be a dream.
I have to wait a little while longer for it to be on PSN, but looking forward to it. Once we get enough match-up experience, we can start filling out that match-up chart.
Ok so let me get this straight… Can she block on wakeup after activating U2? Because if she can, I’ll burn the ultra just to block and be safe. I haven’t tested U2 properties yet, because I haven’t downloaded AE yet. But filipin0man or sksksksk, if you guys want to get some high level Rose matches in, just hit me up soon. I should be on AE either today or tomorrow. (Not sure if I will be doing Rose vs Rose though… ;))
im liking the new st.mk and i have been able to connect with u1 alot since i downloaded ae against yun and other characters, i guess there r more openings since it is a rushdown game
A question, If I suck at punishing with Ultra 1, would I be better off using Ultra 2 and attempt to make mix-ups? What kind of things can I do with Ultra 2 in AE? (I know I already asked but I’m not sure if all the options were posted) Or should I just stick with U 1?.
No, she cannot anymore. If you try to use your U2 on wake-up as the opponent is in animation to do an attack, you will be unable to block, and thus your U2 will be stuffed. I’m questioning if you could do EX Soul Spiral right after U2 activation, but I have a feeling that won’t quite work.
Rose can Block after the 4 or 5 Start Up frame (I’m not 100% sure about the real startup, I think 4). I think Back Dash -> Ultra 2 is a better option for wake up. I still like her u2, it’s good, can still be used as a def tool, off tool and mix up.
I can’t understand why the most part is crying so hard. She is still solid and her changes r not this bad as i suspected.
Blocking is not that bad until you realize how hard it becomes against the top end of the tier list. I mean i’m ok with blocking for as long as necessary as i know i have a way of keeping them out. Most characters who get in have to generally work for it. AE is just the opposite. Easy to get in. Easy Dmg. Safe Pressure. Ultra 1 is worthless against any HALF competent player not to mention YUN.
U1 didn’t really work against Rufus so I bet it wont work against Yun/Yang either, as long as they dive low enough, or cross you up.
Can anyone confirm that her U2 combos no longer work now? Especially the spark FADC ones.
There is still some hope that startup and recovery is different for this ultra, so that she can block before it actually hits, or more likely it will hit before she can block (like 4 startup for orbs and 7 frames of recovery for rose)
I couldn’t get spark FADC to work. You can still hit it on jump in and after a FADC’ed ex spark, it still juggles and all that as well.
To be honest it’s not as bad as I was expecting it to be, although of all the characters it’s Makoto that is giving me the most problems. Some of the other matches (especially Cammy) seem much more manageable. What does everyone else think?
