SSF4 AE: Revenge of the Orbs

U2 needed a nerf. It was a ridiculous ultra, one of the most pragmatic and usable in the game. It will still be very good, even with a slight nerf. It will still be the ultra of choice other than the ~3-5 match-ups where U1 makes clear sense.

Rose is still really good. Plus, let’s wait till we hear about the other/final changes before jumping to wild conclusions.

People just dont know to approach it correctly and its easily baitable, people jus need to block correctly and not do dumb shit.

i still dont understand everyones big gripe with u2. i mean sorta, but all ultras are stupid. the game would be better without them. u2 is used on wake up just like any other ultra. and everyone wants to piss and moan because they havent bothered to find the best way to stuff rose when she has it active. they could just take down the already low dmg it does or the duration or…anything. i just dont see it as broken and game altering as everyone makes it out to be.

i dont want to sound like im complaining but i feel they gave rose u2 for the exact reason everyone wants it to be taken out, and thats just stupid. why is it so bad that they cant jump at rose when she has ultra stocked? just like numerous other ultras do for other characters. why is it so wrong that people actually have to be careful when fighting rose?? i dunno, whatever…

It doesn’t matter if the ultra was OP or not (it wasn’t btw), the CHARACTER was balanced the way she was.

Oh I didn’t realise that, I just thought they forgot about her or something but even if she’s a low damage character she still has so many diiferent way’s to attack.

I wouldn’t mind if Rose had no more invincibility on the start-up of U2, as long as the orbs don’t disappear when she gets hit :rofl:

Sure, it’s used on wakeup like any other ultra, thing is, any other ultra gets punished if the other person predicts it. If they predicted your Soul Satellite, good for them, but they can’t do shit about it. Now you can probably get a free mixup on them or at worst collect chip damage. In every round you play SSF4. For no risk. There’s no other ultra in this game where you will have a legit, safe reason to do it every round you get it. In and of itself, it’s a ridiculous move. The word broken is thrown around too much, and I don’t know if you could really call this that, but even with the supposed nerf on this move, it would still have enough applications.

she can be thrown out of it, a lot of ex moves can go through it, rufus can simply suck them up with with GT, or anyone can just block them and take the 15 chip dmg or whatever and if rose finishes a combo w/ drill on block she can be punished by mostly everyone, its not like her combos do insane chip dmg.

rose got something that separated her from the rest of the cast but isnt free, or a “get out of jail free card” what so ever. i still believe u2 will be good, ill continue to use it if the change stays.

Na, she’s lacking an over head. If she had one of those did a little more damage then she’d be perfectly balanced.

With all the tools she has, she does OK damage. Would I like her doing more damage? Would I like an overhead? (she has one against big characters) Of course, but she has a lot of tools, anything else would be OP’ed combined with U2.

Making f.HK a overhead would make her too good. Especially in a game where everyone’s too busy trying to downback shit. And we can’t have that. It’s pretty much like asking Cammy’s Cannon Drill to be overhead status in this game. With how things work in SSF4, Cannon Drill would be waaaay to OP since you can TK it so close to the damn ground. A fast TK pressure rushdown overhead? It makes Rufus dive kick game look completely garbage. F.HK does well being the poke/FA punisher that it is.

I don’t mind her damage really. She does enough considering how things work in SSF4. Add the fact Rose has tech traps and can space spiral pretty easily for baits, I don’t see why she’d need more damage.

Maybe they will allow Rose to block immediately after activating Soul Satellite, but it will still come out in 5 frames. Rose would still have to block overhead/low/throw correctly on wake-up and it’ll be slightly more forgiving for the attacker. Or she could escape with backdash/ex spiral, but lose max damage comboability.

Being a 5 frame startup move, soul satellite is a 2-frame safe jump vulnerable reversal. Being able to bait and block soul satellite or force Rose to block a jump-in is possible now in Super…

Maybe it’s a LITTLE OP but, I hope it doesn’t get Sagat nerfed.

If they make Soul Piede an overhead and gave her more damage, they better as hell make her Soul Spiral not break armor without EX anymore.

Rose is fine the way she is. Her U2 needs a nerfing though. An overhead would give her too good of a 50/50 mix up game with her ultra 2 active.

It’s just not worth it. We’ll lose something in return, like our backdash, or our fast pokes, or our grab range.

I don’t think she’d be OP if they increased her damage. I’m not asking for Rufus type damage though. Cammy does good damage and she isn’t OP. But I guess it’s just a matter of IMO. I don’t see how giving rose an over heard would make her broken.

Cammy also has crappy throw range and meh footsie normals. Pretty much, if you’re really good at reading throws, you can down back her to death. Of course really good Cammy’s will disguise said throws, but it’s still a decent flaw in her game.

Rose on the other hand has the best throw range in the game (Karas not included) and when spaced right, annoyingly safe Spiral pressure that can’t be FA’d out of. Give her an overhead, and we got a problem, and Capcom would probably screw her game elsewhere. I mean, imagine Soul Piede as a OH (since it would be the most likely candidate). Even with its ranged reduced from Vanilla, it still goes far, and with Satellite, that’s a BRUTAL 50/50 Guess that can lead to decent damage…off of one normal. Or if they try to guess Piede OH, you slide or cr.MK, and then are able to hit confirm into Spiral and possibly Super (since Satellite will help you combo off of slide)? Yeah, I like Rose, but that gives me the creeps thinking about it.

Isnt that already balanced by the orbs low damage output?

All characters need something to be unique… Rose orbs ultra dont make her broken, but a nerf for one of her tools surely will drop her a lot of positions in the tier ranking.

This game doesnt need any nerfs, all it needs to be balanced are buffs to characters that are hopeless like Makoto, Gen, Hakan,etc.

One problem…it’s Capcom. If there’s something to nerf, they’ll nerf it, so it’s pointless to hope they’d actually be smart and just buff the lower tiers and leave the upper tiers intact.

Orbs are not OP.

Rose doesnt need nerfs and doesnt need buffs, she is fine already and all her matchups are winnable.
