Teleport can get baited easily. Plus when people like Abel with U2, last thing you want to be doing is wakeup teleport when blocking’s a better option.

Yeah, the main mistake rookie to intermediate players make is they always want to do something on wakeup, and they’re scared to sit still. Their misconception is anything’s better than just sitting there blocking and that’s what gets them in trouble really fast. It’s one of the reasons IMO that Rose is one of the lower player killers. Not fun getting Counter Hit by her and you get them often for players who CAN’T SIT STILL.
It’s probably the one thing you should learn early on, before really even getting into characters (and something I still have to practice a bit). Learning to just block and tech only when necessary. Learning to just stay calm when getting pressured on block and wakeup helps so much later on, since panicking doesn’t.
A lot of characters in this game get safejumped or crossovered for free after an untechable knockdown. Even Ryu is forced to block against a very deep crossover like Dictator’s jump HP (and he actually has trouble against a perfectly timed jump mk by Rose after her backthrow).
So it’s not like Rose would be on another planet from the rest of the cast without ultra 2. She actually is on another planet now, since no other defensive move is comparable to SS.
If it stays like that, I wonder what will we get to compensate…if anything.
Even with that most of her match ups are still very even with only 2 or 3 being like 6-4. Why take something away that gonna make **alot **of her even match ups more unfavorable? Isn’t’ that the point of the 2nd ultra in the 1st place? If not rufus ultra two is far to useful.

So… word I heard from someone else that went to Japan is that Rose’s Ultra 2 got nerf’d. Apparently it’s not safe to activate it anymore on wakeup. Now I know he’s not a Rose player, but he said time after time again it wasn’t possible or something was going wrong.
So my thoughts about this is that, if you played Rose starting on Regular Street Fighter 4, you will probably stick with her since you’re use to Ultra 1. Now the people who just picked her up for super might just change. Just my thoughts…
Also, I don’t get why they don’t just make Soul Piede a frickin’ overhead?! i mean some people literally just sit there and turtle against Rose and I can’t do anything. (I.E. Balrog/Boxer) and it’s so frustrating. Ok, some people may say it’s “op”, but honestly to me, I think she deserves it.
I mean that was one of her main problems in vanilla, she only had like 3 wakeup options which 2 were pretty much a guess and suicide option. Ugh, i hate it. I don’t know what Capcom has up their sleeves. But right now, I’m just puzzled.
I’ve always used Rose, but I never really played Vanilla seriously (didn’t even own an X-Box before Super) but when Super came out, I eventually got one months later.
Rose doesn’t need an overhead, would I complain if we got one? Nope. I do think it’d be OPed though, I can just thinkoff the top of my head of the crazy gimmicks with an overhead and slide. Do we deserve one if we get the U2 nerfed? FUCK GIVE US SOMETHING

How would OH Soul Piede not be OP as hell? It comes out in half the frames of the other OH’s and does 100 dmg 200 stun with disgusting range.
Why not just block/backdash on wake up? Am I missing something here?
Soul Piede being a OH does a lot of good and bad for both sides. Most really on Rose obviously. Lets just be happy this isn’t Vanilla Soul Piede we’re trying to consider a overhead as that would really be a problem.

Coz there’s 0 risk in pressing rose on wakeup. While there’s one when you press Ryu.
Lol rose has way more than 2 3 bad matchups she’s not top tier guys.
Also overhead would be pretty stupid considering the space control she has IMO .
Most characters that have good movement and pressure like Rose are free on wake up. Welcome to that world of blocking the right way.
Balrog is a really lame character and whatever benefit Rose would get to be able to open up Boxer would help her thrash characters who can’t lame as well. Rose can also lame just as well as Balrog can. As an Ibuki player I know that Rose can be nearly just as defensively annoying to deal with as Rog. What’s Ibuki going to do to close the gap against a 3 frame c.MP and armor breaking special that has more range than most of her normals? Capcom should do something about Balrog rather than buff characters specifically against one character (which would indirectly buff them against every other character and particularly in the matchups where they already body a character). Balrog literally takes the offense out of the gameplay because of the stupid ass hit boxes on his moves that have no vulnerable hit box that most characters are capable of hitting. Though that’s what Capcom wants to do so whatever.
Plus nobody’s going to stop using U2 just because the invincibility is gone. The double sided DP part of it was probably its best strategic asset but the Ultra has so many strategic uses outside of being a braindead reversal that it’ll still get use. I wouldn’t be surprised to see U2 still used for more matchups than U1.
If a change is necessary, I’d rather see Rose get more defensive options. We can all agree that her options hover near zero and makes her very lopsided. U2 was good; it was a “free” move for her, but also consider that everyone else gets a 100% safe and free pressure agianst Rose on wakeup.
Rose having an OH is unnecessary - her offensive pressure, while not the most awesome, is still better than average. If anything in that arena, she needs more oomph with her punishing combos.
You can block, but back dashing you’d probably get option selected into some BS.
