also rose has too many difficult matches to be A tier (remember there is no S tier.) I think thinking optimistically she is high B tier.
I still say ultra 2 is not “overpowered”. Against turtle players its almost useless since they will patiently wait you out anyway, not flinch or get thrown with like 1 orb out there etc
I think you touched upon the primary issue with these changes, that the nerfs aren’t designed with matchups in mind.
Rose is objectively one of the most balanced characters in the game. I’m not saying this based upon opinion about her play, I’m talking strictly in terms of matchup numbers. Monkeying with her seems retarded.
Rebalancing should start by looking at 7-3’s and remedying squashes. Instead, this “rebalancing” seems more motivated by child-proofing SSF4 even more than thought possible.
The Seth gripes are business as usual. He looks so broken when played without any mistakes, but the whiners can’t seem to find any success at all when they play him. Damdai showed how you put a broken character on blast- you prove it. We have yet to see that from the Seth haters.
Isn’t removing Seth’s yoga punch more a way of fixing the retarded Zangief matchup rather than proof he’s considered overpowered?
Anyways ultra 2 can be used offensively, with the opponent to the corner you can walk up and throw him through the orbs with the right timing which is very hard to avoid, or even try a level 3 focus attack with no safe way out.
And you also have the soul throw crossups and big block-damage potential.
I’ll still rock U2. Though there really was nothing wrong with it in the first place.
Where’s those Rufus nerfs though? Since Capcom’s so dead set on nerfing people who need buffs and not buffing in the right places on lower ranked characters.
Since Rose can’t block safely after activation, perhaps they changed the orbs so they become active a few frames earlier to match- that way as a reversal you’re (almost, depending on orb location) guaranteed a trade for a meaty attack? Hopefully she can’t get reversal-ultraed by a grab also, but I’m pretty sure that’s asking too much.
By ElvenShadow’s comment, we can now confirm that Rose’s U2 was certainly nerfed in the location tests that were done. The question is, will it stay, or will Ono reconsider it? In which particular match-ups did her U2 aid her the most in?
This. Not like it’s going to do a lot of damage anyway since we’re FADCing it. I was hoping it was there in this version.

uh yea really. Being forced to take guaranteed chip damage from half screen unless you’re Bison/Akuma/Seth is pretty stupid. Hell not even they get away from it most of the time.
my guess is Ono won’t. Akuma/Rufus/Chun/Abel/Cammy come to mind in which U2 either helped get them off or get in safely.
now people are force to block. Well if people realize that they can actually hold back/downback on wakeup and not rely on ultra or EX spiral.
Without U2, Rose wouldn’t be one of the worst characters in the game in terms of wake-up options, would she? Is there at least another character that shares her weakness?
Meh, we still have EX Soul Spiral (which isn’t very good), EX Soul Throw (which isn’t very good), Blocking (extremely good), Backdashing (decent, but not great), EX Soul Spiral FADC Backdash (3 meters, but decent).
