SSF4 AE: Revenge of the Orbs

actually all her moves dealing with her scarf (minus Reflects now) are misleading in range. This has been bothering me since Vanilla. Mainly her focus attack and s.Fierce. Though s.Fierce isn’t nearly as misleading as her FA is in this aspect.

Yeah those two really just amaze and piss me off at times. I have an idea of how to fix the hit box for the FA though, kind of a combination of this (her throw hitbox) http://shoryuken.com/wiki/images/d/d6/Throw.jpg and this (her reflect hitbox) http://shoryuken.com/wiki/images/b/b5/H.Reflect.jpg. The throw would be close to what the width would be like, but slightly slimer and the Reflect would be the height almost exacltly.I also think its kind of slow(not the charge but the release) but i wonder if changing the box would help out iwth that as well.

S.Hp just needs to be a little longer (it should be able to hit from at least close to the end of the scarf). With that range and it being able to hit most crouchers it would solid.

Rose is broken now because Sabin says she’s broken. He has the power to make Soul Sparks do 1,000 damage, even when they’re blocked.

Well of course she’s broken, but I want to hear his reasoning, maybe he found ANOTHER broken thing just to add on her bustedness.

So I was at TGS and I played 5 games of arcade Rose until I got kicked off. I can confirm that she no longer can block after her Ultra 2. I tested it a few times. One time, Yang did his EX shoulder and it hit me right after ultra 2. One time I got hit with one of Ibuki’s normals right after it. If you try to use it as a reversal you might trade at best. It seems really weak now. After I played, I talked to Ono personally and asked him if there were any other Rose changes and he said that the ONLY thing they did to her was nerf Ultra 2. I told him it was too weak now and asked him to please fix it back and he said he would think about it.

One thing I did notice that doing one frame links seemed way easier for some reason. I did like cr.lp cr.lk cr.mp spiral like 5 times in a row with success and I didnt even plink, and my success rate with that is generally pretty low. However, Ono said he didnt change any of her frame data so either I just somehow got lucky and nailed it each time, or something with a the overall system of the game is making 1 frame links easier for whatever reason.

Man that’s such bull… good thing I’ve started practicing with U1.

Well, as Rose new player (actually, at SSF IV too, i play for like 4 months), i think that the u2 is kinda overpowered as it is. I mean, why a guy should use an ultra whenever he wants? a lot of friends who plays with me say that its kinda frustrating when you get a knock down and you already know that the ultra is coming. Personally im trying to play with u1 OR using u2 to keep pressure. At least its nice to see that a lot of guys who i admire are discussing the changes and stuff.

Well it’s obvious that if you want to nerf Rose in any way, the best way of doing it is to nerf ultra 2, cause it’s the move that pisses everyone off and it makes ultra 1 almost useless.

The question is whether Rose needed to be nerfed at all, in other words: was she S-tier? Is it even possible to say now, considering how underplayed she is?

Sabin is doing fine (perhaps great? we’ll see in major tournaments) these days with limited amounts of character experience so I guess she is better than her current rank. And Capcom QA usually knows more than we do due to their intensive playtesting. It’s possible that U2 overpowers her.
At the moment however I see no reason to call her broken by anyone though, since we have no proof.

As another new Rose player (also very new to SSF4, was more of a Soul Calibur player before this) so whatever i say might be totally wrong but doesn’t this make Ultra 2 useless or much, much less useful? Cause the whole point of U2 was to give Rose a good reversal and/or a mixup pressure option. Without the invulnerability, the Orbs would just get canceled by meaties on wakeup or your opponents own reversals if you are too close. It becomes really pointless imo. Guess im going to have to learn U1 then :smiley:

It’s not completely useless. Still punishes stupid jump-ins and it’s still good for pressure. It’s just not a get out of jail free card anymore. Hell, those who use U2 almost primarily for pressure won’t care about this too much.

Yeah, if u2 can’t be used at the wakeup, why bother burning 2 meter (fadc) to use it offensively, while u1 would work as well ?
