I remember Kiryu saying that he thought cl.MK was +6 on hit, which would be just enough hit advantage to link cr.MP (assuming it still hits on the 6th frame) afterwards. In the video, I’m not sure if that all actually combo-ed, but you can see that cl.MK > cr.MP does work slightly before I attempted the full combo. It also appears that MK Bushin Senpukyaku doesn’t travel as high as it does in Super, but that might just be me. Less total frames and less recovery? :wonder:
I tried doing cl.MK > Bushin Chain earlier that day, but I think it’s character specific.
Nemo: I saw a bit of Guy yesterday, and his close MK got really buffed, and you can do a lot of damage with his target combo from there, so I think his normals are going to be an important asset for him.
Hiropon: Also his c.LK being 3 frames is huge. But MP shoulder no longer connecting from mid strength moves seems have been a hit for Guy users.
Itabashi: Did they change the air Izuna Drop? That did so much damage!
I’m loving c.mp to score counter-hits. easily hit confirmable into another c.mp or TC. also c.lk is reaaaaally good during pressure. people like to stand tech the 2nd hit keke
Itabashi: You can duck it, right? You?re dead if you stand. Also, I heard Command Run -> Hop Kick (MK) is now one hit.
Nemo: I guess you can Focus it now.
They must be talking about HK right? Implications?
The first time he does it instantly, run/HK so it only hits once, thereafter he does it again and it registers 2 hits. The overhead still has two hits.
If you learn the spacing of this move, it can be useful. Sometimes I space it purposly to hit only once, on crouchers, because it’s risky if they stand, and I get more pushback on block. Landing this move on a jumping oponnent is even better. Some players like to neutral jump after tech throws, or wake ups.
Yeha I picked up on this too, I love hitting their neutral jump with only one hit of run hk and following up with run slide. Straight up SNK shit right there.
There doesn’t seem to be much buzz about Guy in the Gods Garden AE First Impressions interview. They briefly touched on him, but didn’t mention him again at all in part 2. I was kind of hoping they would say that he is one of the highly improved characters. I think he must still be bottom tier, but perhaps his improvements are being slept on a little bit.
There’s quite a few characters in the game and it’d be difficult to talk about all of them in detail. Besides Guy is an unpopular choice anyway so I doubt many people have had to face him with his new changes.
It’s way too early to pass judgements on tier lists of AE at this point. And I don’t expect those who were interviewed to know that much about Guy. They mention Command Run Overhead does only one hit, or something along those lines. If they’re talking about the RUN > HARD KICK overhead, that still does 2 hits if spaced correctly, or if your opponent’s focus attack isn’t evasive.
Hiropon: “Also his c.LK being 3 frames is huge. But MP shoulder no longer connecting from mid strength moves seems have been a hit for Guy users.”
Now I don’t know if it’s just me, but is the st.MP>Medium Hozanto a big deal? I rarely used it myself. And besides close.HP>light hozanto only does about 10 less damage if I’m not mistaken and that should still work.
In the interview, they briefly touch on Guy because I imagine they don’t know much about him.
Guy will always be a little better than people think but hes still not gonna be better than a solid mid tier character.I reckon hes gonna be about where Adon is in Super right now.Hes gonna be solid mid tier but if a player comes along that can really exploit his strengths and work through his weaknesses then he can be made to look better than he really is.
I guess where he’ll end up also depends on how his matchups change.I think he’ll have to be able to deal with the rushdown Yun,Yang,Makoto,Fei Long etc to stand a chance in AE.I think he deals well with rushdown characters at the moment so I think he’ll turn out solid in AE.He just wont have any easy mode stuff.St.mk will be only ‘abusable’ thing in AE.
yea Guy takes a lot of work to win with. I’ve been getting back with him recently and now I remember how he really is. It’s hard to deal with pressure without meter, gotta be patient and just block. Even his ex tatsu is kinda disappointing, whiffs at times or gets beat. Much of his offense pressure can be beaten on reaction. Mind games is very important with Guy.
Kiryu makes him look good though, I’m gonna try to adapt a playstyle like his once I get a stick lol. I’m just wondering if they fixed any other issues about him, but we’re gonna have to wait and see.
Daigo’s Yun beat Kiryu 2-1 in AE, but his Yun also beat some great players like 7-0, 7-1. I think Guy will always be underrated and barely used in sf4. Don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing but I can’t imagine people jumping on guy when other characters have easier execution and better match ups.
no man, someone reported daigo’s log on eventhubs vs top players but I don’t think they recorded any. I didn’t know those guys went to the same arcade but Kiryu is about to become really popular in japan. Hope they have a tourney or something with him and stream it.
