SSF4 AE Guy Changes

obey- you said that you were about to ex run stop absorb the hit on the stop part and still throw something out and it counterhit correct? do you think it’d be possible to time an ex run stop to absorb a fireball and then ex shoulder and still punish them while they’re in recovery?

it’d be a great clutch moment if you had a full super meter with a ryu close to the corner and did EX run stop… absorbed a fireball then immediately did EX shoulder FADC U1 to win a match.

it seems possible. if I can get someone to go to the arcade with me tonight I’ll try it out

EX run >> Absorb fireball >> stop >> U2 >> 500DMG?

I think it’s 450 in AE

So it looks like guy can do cl.st.mk, cr.mp, st.mp…

Around 9 mins in.

I believe that was streak who did that…it looks like a corner combo.

I thought that was always possible… im probably wrong though

On crouching Sagat, cr.lp>cr.lp>TC whiffs =/

It’s elbow drop, cr.lp>cr.lp>TC whiff. Frustrating nontheless.

9:16 … all he did was C.lp->TC and it whiffed … thats just sad :frowning: … I think we should just cancel of MP … its not like that extra 40dmg does anything…it also scales more…

Am happier about the extra fram adv on Cl.mk … now that we know its +6 … we can get some sick 300+ meterless combos with it

@ 9:16, Guy was pretty far away from Sagat when he did that c.LP> TC so it’s not surprising that it missed.

From my experience so far, it really doesn’t seem like TC whiffs randomly against crouch. Unlike Super, it will fully connect as long as the opponent isn’t too far away.

Being able to cancel of TC is huge because the hit/blockstun from TC is a lot more than s.MP. So basically you can let Guy run a bit longer to hit confirm, then press LK to stop (and since you ran a bit longer, you’ll now be in range for a throw) or MK slide on hit. Definitely not something you want to give up just because you’re not willing to get used to learning the distances when TC will whiff and when it will hit (and so far it seems to me that with a bit of experience, you will be able to tell when it will whiff).

So yeah, keep the faith. TC now works consistently, but it takes a bit of play time to understand when it will work.

And yes, cl.mk is god-like. Best frame trap move ever. However, I’m more partial to s.MK> TC than s.MK> c.MP> s.MP, again because you can do TC> Run then follow up accordingly depending on whether your frame trap netted you a hit or block.

So, do CH cl.MP xx run -> stop combos still work? It was pretty good in super to punish crouch tech and it left you right in throw range.

I suck :frowning:

That was you?

@acidicenema Yea its great if it connects like you are saying… Havent had a chance at AE …So these vids are getting me scared…
I thought it was still like it is in super … which is just random … And it has alot of frames on recovery which leads to easy punish…

Anyone checked if Cr.lk->Cr.MP is possible … every guy vid am seeing people are doing c.lk->S.mp like its nothing … Is it really easier or just good execution…

Any new combos you guys found with Cl.mk,s.mk?..etc

Also i guess Guy should be able to Cr.Lk after overhead now on CH?? can anyone confirm…since it has a good hitbox…

Yes bloodrunk that was me, gonna go back today and try more things out wondering if it’s worth doing cr. mp, cr.sp, st.mp into run slide

What is cr.sp?

Also what did combofiend mean c.sh a few pages back?

edit:Thanks Gaijinblaze

Im guessing c.sh = close standing roundhouse/heavy(?)

that’s a terrible guess. he probably meant crouching short. a lot of people always used c. instead of cr. to mean crouching.
