You know if they just disabled TKCS but otherwise had no height restriction it wouldn’t be nearly as problematic (though she still should get some buffs, and I don’t mean changing 1-frame links into 2-frame links). As it stands though this inane change has been confirmed. I recommend complaining through all channels available if you don’t want Cammy to drop right to the bottom of the tier pile, because it looks like they’re trying to do that. Just make sure to state your reasoning so we don’t sound like we want Cammy to be god-like.
Wouldn’t normal Cannon Strike having a max height restriction effectively nerf Cammys knockdown pressure game to oblivion?
Players might be able to get used to the idea of having to burn meter if it means getting in past footsies into a close situation, or beating a throw tech for a combo; but not for being able to stuff an SRK on wakeup.
I can understand if Capcom feels they have to water down the game yet again so their beloved flowchart Ken core fanbase can resume mashing throw tech and SRKing your confusing shit in peace. (rather than having to… idk… learn to block stuff) What confuses me is why they feel this is too cheap for Cammy and Rufus to have, but is at the same time somehow okay for Yun and Yang.
This game gets lamer every day. Its no wonder I can’t go one week without seeing people say “SSF4 is such a crappy game”. Capcom making mistakes with Cammy, but oh well, Theres plenty of other things to do with my time when I’m not learning how to avoid getting reversaled out of my max peak dive kick that doesn’t combo.
Btw, I miss the nerf on her spiral arrow. I think we should contact Capcom that they forgot this so that all her special moves become pretty useless =)
I don’t mean to sound cruel, but . . . at least we got a DP. Many characters can’t reversal without meter; some can’t reversal at all. We came out lucky; Capcom could’ve taken out Cannon Spike instead.
C’mon guys calm down, I for one wont say shit until I can try out these changes for myself. Besides all her normals are getting better so this will no doubt make her footsie game better and some of her combos much much easier. Finally correct me if im wrong but some high level cammys(mainly just siekryu tbh) don’t even use the tk they just do the early cannon strike and i don’t think that has been touched at all. Is this how y’all are before every patch cause this was exactly how people(guile, cammy and gief players) were prior to super coming out and they were all pleasantly surprised.
The biggest footsie tool Cammy has is delayed divekick/TKCS and according to some people you can’t do strike until the apex or near the apex of your jump. The normals that were buffed don’t even help her with footsies much, they help her with frametraps and rushdown when you’re in their face. The problem is that it’s gonna be a lot harder to frametrap because no one will tech with c.mp/c.hp when you don’t have meter.
a few weeks/months back before this info was official, I used to think the same exact thing, but as of right now, this is some fantasy that we tell ourselves so that we don’t get out hopes down.
Fact of the matter is this: Cammy in Capcom’s eyes is too good, so instead of working with the cast, they pretty much make all of her moves unsafe and easier to punish, or flat out unable to execute them at all. That is the absolute most ridiculous idea I have ever heard of in my life.
In fact, when I read this statement about Cannon Spike being nerfed, I almost fell out of my chair.
-So they nerf blank ball, they nerf cannon spike, but SCISSORS KICK AND HONDA HEADBUTT ARE STILL FUCKING GAHLIKE? Motherfucking Bison can do low scissors ALL DAY AND CHIP FOR FREE!!! (See Daigo vs Andre SBR match, im serious…)
Okay…
Oh and don’t go thinking “well her normals got better, so she might have better footsies”. This is a misguided and faithless statement, because Cammy does not thrive off of footsies zoning game, but rather, rushing down the fuck out of her opponents. To change the basic lay of her moveset is to inevitably create an entire new character within her, and thats pretty crappy. My biggest problem is the hypocrisy across the board: If you’re going to nerf one move because of its height restriction, you need to nerf all moves that can be done that way (hint: Rufus instant Dive Kick???)
Capcom is turning into the SquareEnix of fighting games. SE has long been a company that has been known to sabotage anything and everything that is good, for the simple excuse of “balancing out” things that seemed to give too much of an advantage. Whatever Capcom… Whatever you say…
I updated this morning. Did cammy get her changes? I can still TKCS so I’m guessing no? I have to change my entire play if its still unpatched to remove it.
The update was for making the upcoming costume packs viewable; since the DLC costumes aren’t on the disc. AE changes are a long ways off. Plenty of time for me to unlearn the TKCS’s I spent the last 2 months loving the hell out of. :shake:
Hm, ok i dont play the character but i think you shouldnt be like that. The series always change like that. It’s just that it reached some level of “maturity” where the [some] characters have more moves than SFII days. But its a similar process of buff and nerf alternations. It’s been like that since the first (actually, second) game. At 3S for example, Ryu was worse than some newcomers.
For people who are seriously thinking about drop Cammy, i’d like to suggest this: when the game is out, stay aware of new videos of Arcade Cammy. The patch for consoles will took some time. When it gets released, stay even more aware of the progress of your “prophets” like Sako and Alioune. Try to adapt, its the only way, obviously.
Keep in mind that you have to give some time for the players to give her a new “polished” shape. Your own reactions show how much she lost, so you have to wait. Seth players will have to wait more anyway. They lost much more.
There is always people working hard to give their mains the highest level form, of course. You have trust the community and also collaborate, if you like that character. That’s how it works. Now, if even your prophets drop her, things will turn bad. Not that it is impossible that an “unknown” player becomes the reference for AE Cammy, of course. Somebody has to do it in first place.
But only in that case (if you go along and drop her too) it would be a reasonable decision, instead of getting frustrated so early. Almost every character is being tweaked, so people are personally in a similar situation. Of course it is very relative as Viper, for example, is intact. But in general people will have to adjust here and there, and that may take some time.
My advice is that you always think about Seth: one less diagonal strechy arm, lol. Also, since in the beginning there will be many clumsy Seths you can use that for training.
What does ‘activate’ at shoulder height even mean?
Whatever the case, as of now cannon striking anyone above the waist can’t be followed up with a combo. And from the sounds of it, the height limitation seems to allow us to only do just that.
How can you compare Cannon strike to Yun and Yang’s divekick? Their divekicks descend to the ground nearly twice as fast as Cammy’s. So even if both the divekicks had equal amount of hitstun the twins land alot earlier and have more frame advantage to combo from.
this is probably where your post should have stopped since it made absolutely no sense. since you don’t play the character you have no idea how important it is to her footsie and pressure game. Not sure why you would ever make an attempt to compare these changes from SSF4 to AE to those changes made in a completely different series SF2 to SF3. This isn’t a simple “tweak” its completely changing the playstyle of a character.
p.s. no one gives a fuck about seth.(not in these forums anyway)
