Then I guess Sako is ignorant. I’m talking about the least scrubby player imaginable, not someone who doesn’t know enough about the matchup not to shut down 90% of her tricks and leave her with just striking and throwing (and yes, cross-ups and mix-ups–with erm, cannon-strike and throw) to get in. Anything else is waiting for your opponent to do something stupid.
Why do you play Cammy?
you sound salty and like you dont know the correct way to use her move set. some of her moves/normals are situational just like ANY OTHER CHARACTER.
i can fault the whole cast with your “redundancy” combo concern.
Di,
Guess Sako doesn’t know either, since 99% of his game was cannonstrikes + footsies. Nope, that’s just playing her to her strengths. He pulled out SBF only once in his first-to-ten with Daigo and clutched the round by hitting him in the foot after jumping back–does that suddenly mean SBF has “situational use”, or that it’s just mostly useless? Even when there are situations you could use her weaker moves, a cannonstrike is oftentimes the superior option. And the hooligan slide makes SBF look godlike in comparison (takes forever to land, horrible damage, easily stuffed, can’t lead into ultra except in corners–the ONLY reliable use for it I’ve found is against run-away Akuma’s that throw a fireball after jumping back, and even then its difficult to time).
Then I’m no less right for it (I agree other characters similarly have one or two good moves and the rest are garbage; you’ll see pro players sticking to some moves of a character and never ever using others. Tournament players who don’t want to lose are a good litmus test to the usefulness of a move; the ones that are too risky get squelched out.). Yes, some moves are situational, TOO situational, and you could get by without ever using them.
My original point was that she’d be a more interesting character if cannonstrike wasn’t the big centerpiece of her game, and it would require buffing her other moves. I don’t dislike her now, I’d just like her more if that happened.
"Q: More than Yun and Yang, I’d like to learn about the existing characters’ changes. Although, I can understand not being able to release information due to being a corporation and having to meet schedules and such. Still, I believe there are a lot of people to whom Yun and Yang mean nothing, so please do something…
A: “So-and-so is too good, or he/she sucks,” type of opinions from the players are what we’ve continued to collect ever since SF4’s release, even before the Arcade Edition. I will publish a piece in the next blog entry (October 26th), namely Ryu, C. Viper, Cammy, Boxer and Guy. Please continue to post comments to the blog."
We will learn our fate (or at least a general idea of it?) on late Monday/early Tuesday. Taken from eventhubs’ translation of the SSF4 AE blog.
I wouldn’t mind tkcs being removed if Cammy had something else reliable to use for pressure. The problem is she really doesn’t at this point. Maybe that will change, but knowing Capcom I am not holding my breath.
capcom sucks at balancing, expect a fuked up cammy. gonna kill her same way they kill seth
Yeah… if we got cvs2 spiral arrows than it’s cool… but i’m not expecting any buffs to go with this nerf.
Everyone was saying that from vanilla->super and the result wasn’t as expected.
but from vanilla to super we didnt lost a ‘special’
now thats like remove cammy main pressure and mindgame guessing. now i wont be afraid anymore when playing vs cammy about my wakeup
downback, even in super.
Can’t really say she’s losing a “special,” when she’s just losing a bit of priority from it. No TKCS means less meter management (really, spamming this move is just entertainment even though it’s helpful, not every Cammy player uses it to build meter). To punish wiffed throws or crouching shorts/certain slides you have to use the EX version so now it dampens her mix-up game making her more predictable with/without meter. And since you can’t do TKCS after an EX one, her BnB combos will do less damage.
So in the end, she’ll build less meter (for those who like to spam tkcs), be more meter dependent, do less damage and depending how on her HK/EX SA is nerfed, be possibly easier to punish.
Although I don’t like it, I could see it as Capcom wanting players to use the EX Cannon Strike more and if we do, then those combos that just started out with TKCS would now do more damage. This is about as optimistic as I can view the nerf though I still feel it hits her hard as the benefits hardly make up the deficit. In the end, it’s usually beyond the player’s understanding anyway.
But soon enough it might make sense on 10/26.
The way I see it is that Capcom is nerfing the TKCS because of it’s ability in the hands of someone who knows how to use it properly. The best use of the TKCS is its OS, the meter building is just a bonus. Think of how many things it shuts down in one move, take an OS U1 for example. The opponent can’t cr tech (essentially taking away 3 options right there), can’t backdash, and most of the cast excluding the characters with 3 frame startup dps can’t reversal.
That said I think this nerf is more to cater to the lower tier characters; Cammy moved up on the tiers because of new 7-3 matchups against characters like Hakan and Makoto. Taking away the TKCS might help even out the pool of 7-3 matchups near the bottom of the tier lists.
I’m not happy about losing the TKCS nor am I saying it’s the best way to go about balancing the game, but I’m trying to justify it. Arturo Sanchez said that not many Cammy players out there use the TKCS properly, and after watching some matches including my own I have to agree. Players like Alioune are losing a lot more than just a tech throw punish.
TKCS, delayed TKCS and the ability to **freely ** strike at any height are important if not integral part of my gameplay.
as far as i remember the main concern was the ability to gain meter safely from full screen… (i do that when my ex bar needs 2 to 5 TKCS to charge, otherwise i dont bother, we should spam lp spin knuckle instead or lk arrow )
in addition to losing the ability to OS, cammy is losing more than just 1 move, we are losing lk tkcs, mk tkcs and hk tkcs. If you play long enough you will notice the subtle differences between the 3, which honestly cannot be replaced by EX tkcs (different properties, its basically a different move altogether).
downback = freegrab
before u could fuck them up by mix tkcs or grab now no more
- tkcs on wakeup=safe on block
fffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu–
I guess we’ll just have to do what the rest of the cast does to get grabs now. Also , hopefully we could still be able to punish grabs by atleast jumping and Cannon Striking? which seems just as possible as TKCS but highly unlikely since you only have 20 frames when they whiff the grab. As for ExTKCS it doesnt seem that great since she flashes yellow. Great now everyone finally fears the killer bee so they nerf her sting if it sticks I hope they give her some kind of consolation prize ANYTHING.
Nothing is official yet do, TKCS may still be in. Hopefully… i love that move.
Angry Ass - Cammy uses an ex bar to slap her ass powering up her next Canon Spike by 30 dmg.
lol
Keystrokes . . .
I lol’d
