SSF4 AE 2012 Gen Match-ups & Strategies (New)

Opinions on the match vs claw?

build meter and wait for him to attempt any wall jump special, block and punish. footsie him and stay on him, his wakeup is ass so expect back flips and punish accordingly

How about this?

thats more believable

nothing is 6/4 in either favor when Gen is involved…lol thats a joke. I really just came to post it so people would stop asking me in msges and honestly if you guys really believe that match up chart that Houzi22 posted then theres really no reason to discuss anything because were obviously playing a different game

matchups where never designed to believe but to share some light on matchup knowledge, if you feel that there is no reason then that’s fine bro. the purpose of tier list is for members to share and discuss knowledge of how to deal with opponents on a character to character basis with focus on their tool set. but oh well its cool.

thats not the purpose of a tier list…thats the purpose of a matchup discussion thread. strictly speaking, the purpose of a tier list is to rank the characters based on the general consensus of who is the best in the game

regardless, I understand what you are trying to say.

Anyway, just the feeling for the match.

houzi I would love to see some of your matches

Ok.

This Viper player is strongger than me. But the unblockable seems like working really well.

with Ibuki. It is more like a setup vedio. ~

Sorry, both of vedios have long advertisement…:frowning:

dude your gen is good man. I dare say better than mine.

I second that. Very nice gen. That ibuki was just destroyed with some nice setups. Good job.

I’ll check them out when I get home. I’ve had a bit of time off this game. So it will inspire me to jump back in the deep end!

No … Hakan is free to Gen, I’ll take that one. I’m not trying to boast but I play two of the best Hakans in the states semi-regularily and the matchup is free.

Hakan’s scariest tool against a majority of the cast is his FA. Against a LOT of characters, it is basically a get in free, mixup card. Gen’s pokes into hands stop those shenanigans completely.

Gen outfootsies Hakan easily, so once you shut down his ground game…

Hakan’s jump arc is so whack and short that you never even have to switch stances to anti-air him. His jumps are free to mantis cr.hp.

If he oils up full screen (or anywhere really) that’s a free super or ultra, EXCEPT EX. Never try to ultra/super punish those cause he can cancel them at any point.

On top of all that, Gen has a dp so he can’t do any free mixups without having to bait some dps, and when his bait fails you’re back at a neutral game you can stomp him at. Anyways, just my opinion.

About Cammy, I think it may be 5/5. Gen has one extraordinarily useful thing about his DP versus cammy… If you see them jump at all (during a neutral game) then just throw out EX dp and wait for them to fall in it… dive kick or not 99% of the time this catches them for free. But I don’t see it being 6/4 Gen’s favor considering cammy’s pressure is just too derp good in addition to dealing high damage and high stun on old man Gen.

I play with one of the best Hakans in Europe very regularly and I can only echo your statements. Hakan has nothing to deal with Gen keeping him out until he has no Oil, your go to pokes are cr.mp and st.mk in this matchup as it shuts down all of his options.
It is easy to punish his oils from full screen with just about anything, his uncrouchables can be mashed out of by Gen and you have some very easy unblockable setups via tc2>hk.gekiro. He also has very little other than bDNC / u2 / nj.air throw to stop you from jumping at him, its an easy match.

As for Cammy, you can also get good mileage out Crane’s Cr.HK, I’ve found if you know its coming it will beat a divekick clean or trade with an ex which saves you from blowing a bar on ex.Gekiro.

Is there any of you guys I can add on XBL?
My internet is really good could probably play with some of the US players.
