Wow these pictures are really good. The Clarity of em is nice. I started a blog using a Point and shoot camera. An Olympus, Taking Pictures of everywhere I go. I mean the Quality is meh, till I get a real camera. I use photoraw for now, Since the color pictures dont look good at well. Check it out. Me and My Olympus
This is my very small collection of photos I have put up on Picasa for now… Picasa Web Albums
It’s basically Hawaii and French Polynesia. When I have time I will get around to uploading my Japan pictures and I am probably going to Rome and Madrid in two weeks. Funny enough though, I live in NYC and have zero pics of my own city. Sad really. Will have to rectify that.
I assume BIF means Bird in Flight, so that would be the kit lens 18-55mm on the rebel XT. Probably full auto mode seeing as how it was in the middle of the day and I wouldn’t have time to manually adjust settings to get that shot. Bottom 4 photos are all the kit lens as that was the first time I ever used my DSLR.
I used a tripod for the sunset shot set to whatever it was using the 10 second timer to avoid shake, other three were probably on auto given the time of day.
I do use Photoshop to clean up the image. By clean it up, I mean adjust the contrast/brightness if need be. I don’t apply filters or mess with color too much as I really don’t know what I’m doing with that.
I’d really attribute the impressiveness to the locale and subjects, not my photography skills. French Polynesia is… Yeah. It’s Tahiti. You’d be hard pressed to find a more beautiful place to shoot random shit.
If you follow the link to my picasa web album it has all the photo info there.
DOUBLE EDIT: I don’t have any accessories outside of two tripods. I just got a 60D which I know everyone says is a fail but it’s an upgrade from my Rebel XT and I’m just not good enough to justify spending 2K on a body. I’m happy with it and that’s all that matters. I have the 18-55mm kit lens, the 100mm macro f/2.8 lens and the 70-300 mm IS USM f4.5 (I think) lens now. That’s all that I own in regards to photography.
TRIPLE EDIT: I also crop and straighten photos with photoshop. I always tilt to the right for some reason and I use the crop function to cut out unwanted amounts of a scene that detract from the photo I had in mind.
Just a general tip I read about photographing food: overexpose the picture by 1. It supposedly makes it look better and tastier. More “fresh” I suppose.
Hey guys im new as far as photography goes and my past experience goes as far as using a cell phone camera taking decisive myspace angle shots. I want to pick up a 60d for pic and video recording and cause of the articulating lcd screen for crowded events and more angle shots.
anyways questions is… how do u guys go around taking pics of tournaments and events. whats a good lens for that kind of environment?

That is Barcelona, Rome, and Venice. I still have tons more to upload. Almost all pics include a “download in high resolution” link.
The only image that is heavily photoshopped is the one of the walkway with trees overhanging it. There was a huge parking meter right in the middle of the walkway that totally ruined the shot. I had to remove it If you ever go there in real life you can just walk three feet and avoid it, but the camera wouldn’t get the same shot if I walked three feet =[
I’d have to assume a fast lens. You might also want to get a nice flash that is directable or diffusible in some way. Def don’t want to use the on camera flash.
You’ll need a fast lens because of indoor shooting/limited light. A flash that can be angled will give you extra light and prevent the nasty hard shadows and/or reflections off of screens.
Great photos, some I’ll actually be using as wallpaper
Quick questions: What is everyone using for photo backup, both online and offline (HD)? Just curious since I’ll be looking into a solution shortly and want some opinions.
