The only things that I can’t grasp are the “not a spy” vs. “what spy?” thing and us being able to choose a role when we die. How does that work? And was what Neesa said earlier right, that we need to choose together so we don’t en up with 7 snipers?
About those, it’s the precaution Pimp Willy took to prevent this game from turning into “Follow The Cop”, where one player claims Cop, and the Medic protects him at night so he can investigate without getting killed by the Mafia.
Basically, if the medic chooses(knowingly or unknowingly) to protect the Cop, the investigation results will be botched, which voids the aforementioned strategy.
On an unrelated note, if the Cop investigates the Medic’s target, the results will be botched as well.
If the UC’s investigation target is being protected, or if the UC himself is being protected by the medic then his investigation is inconclusive. This results in a “What spy” message. “Not a spy” is the result if the investigation target is a civilian.
And the “choose a class” bit is for when you get killed. You get to choose what class you want to be in your death write-up.
“Not a spy” is a clean result of an investigation, “what spy?” is an inconclusive result of an investigation due to either the detective or the suspect being protected by the medic.
The sniper comment was a joke that has no bearing on the actual game.

Alright. I should be back for the evening. I had to be a good girlfriend and take my BF out for his birthday. Festivities are over for now. Hats for all.
I just told you why I didn’t check in. I thought about it, but I didn’t have anything to say. Also, as I’ve often stated in every one of these games I play, I work at night and sleep during the day. If I post during the day time, it’s usually inbetween me doing something at home, or I’m just up because my weekly shift is over. I normally post before 11:00 AM and after 6:00 PM, well into the AM hours.
I’ve never played TF2. But I played the hell outta the first one.
I’d recruit Nessa, because she’s a girl and knows how to handle you filthies.
As far as the question of who I’d pick, I’d try to fly under the radar and pick someone who knew about the game, but wasn’t too vocal in previous games, but also wasn’t a first-timer. First-timers are too risky, since they are more likely to edit posts, reveal the wrong info in the thread, etc. Though vets certainly do that sometimes, too. cough Missing Person cough
Ok, so as we have approximately two days until the lynch choice needs to be submitted how about we keep the discussion going.
How damaging do we think the Last Gasp block will be? The only game I’ve played didn’t include this mechanic so I’m not sure how effective it would be. I know it’d be devastating if they used it on the UC though.
It would indeed be devastating if they successfully used it on the UC, and moderately troubling if they use it on a regular good player. Tough to be UC in this game. You could die with a ton of investigations and not count on your LG to get your info out.
Last gasp block get’s increasingly more useful as the game progresses. I don’t think it’s an issue right now. well, I guess someone could role claim in a gasp, but I don’t think that would hold very much water until later on either.
Before the death. It’s submitted along with the night kill itself, during the same phase. It’d be technically 2 actions
Normal Night Kill
Use Special Ability stock, blocking the last gasp for the person killed
Mafia doesn’t get to see who was killed then decide to use the last gasp blocker, and they don’t know if it was even a successful kill (if it’s ubered and blocked, the stock is still lost)
