GAME RED

Welcome to the first Proving Ground game. The idea here is that we wanted to open up a game to everyone who was not in the All Star game. We will give new players a chance to learn, and overlooked players a chance to shine.

Theme:
BLU spies have infiltrated the RED base, in order to steal the coveted Fried Chicken documents in a briefcase. RED – in a tradition of overreacting - has decided to kill off one person each day until all of the blue spies are dead, and their documents are safe.

Overall game idea (if you’re new to mini Mafia games):
11 people get thrown into a situation where you don’t know who to trust. Each day the town gets together and decides to kill somebody, to try and find the BLU spies. After a vote, the person with the most votes is killed by the RED team. At night, everyone goes back to their beds to sleep, and then BLU gets their turn to kill people. If team BLU has the same amount of people as RED, they get the information and win the game. If the town kills all of team BLU, they win. You win or lose as a team, not individually, so do your best to help your team out!

Uber: May protect 1 other person at night. That person is protected from night kills. If the Pyro is targeted, their spy check will return “What spy?” If the person protected is the target of spy check, the result will return “What spy?”

Spy Check: At night, may target one person. That person is bathed in flames. If they are a BLU spy, the result will return “Spy.” If they are not, the result will return “Not a Spy.” If either Pyro or the target is protected by the medic, the result will be “What spy?”

Phases:

The game will cycle between day phase and night phase. In order to keep things consistent, we will be running a 48 hour cycle split into 2 phases, which will always start/stop at the same time.

Day phase will last 36 hours. (9AM to 9PM PST - Pacific Standard time (or whatever is currently valid for California). All votes are done in the thread, by bolding an underlining the vote like this: Lynch Pimp Willy. People with day abilities must PM their choices by the end of the day phase.

Players who do not submit their lynch vote before the deadline two day phases in a row will be DQ’d. They will be replaced by an available alternate if available. If no alternates remain, they will be listed as dead and their roles will be revealed.

Night phase will last 12 hours. (9PM to 9AM PST- See above) During this phase, the BLU team must decide who they want to kill. People with night actions must PM their choices before the deadline.

Talking is allowed during all phases.

Votes:
No Lynch is always a valid voting choice at all phases of the game. Your choice must be bolded and underlined in the game thread. Votes can be changed once cast.
Votes will be tallied and posted at the end of the day phase.

When you die, your allegiance as well as your role will be revealed.

Last Gasp
When a RED is killed, they are able to make a last gasp (unless “Aussie Punch!” or “Backstab” is invoked). PM me with your message and I will post it into the thread; do not post into the thread yourself. If you feel the need to make a post in game after your death, keep it non game related (“nice game guys”) and keep it to one post only. Posting anything game related after death will result in a ban, the length of which will be determined by myself, Missing Person, SWBeta, and NoodleHead, possibly others should others begin running games.

COMMON SENSE RULES THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO POINT OUT, BUT NOW HAVE TO:

  1. Do not edit ANY POSTS. Period. For any reason. Do not ask us to verify with mods that you did not have any malicious intent in editing your posts, we will not do it. Do not provide me with any photographic evidence of your edits. There are going to be no warnings this time, just DQ’s. Habitual editors will be banned. We have had this BS happen way too much during these last two games. If you have anything to add, or any clarifications to typos to make, or a broken image/link in your post, create a new post to address it.

  2. Do not PM anyone playing the game. If you are mafia, keep your PMs in the mafia conversation. If you’re one of the lovers, keep your PMs inside the Lovers conversation. You should not be PMing anyone else if you are them, and if you aren’t, you have no business using the PM inbox at all regarding this game. If you have any questions regarding gameplay, PM me. If someone PMs you that shouldn’t be, do not mention it in the thread, just PM me with the the contents of it. PM’ing once will result in a DQ. Habitually doing so will result in a ban. (Things not game related will not result in any penalty, but to keep the integrity of the game, if someone playing PMs you, please report it to me.)

  3. No coaching after you’re dead. This includes outside of SRK. I don’t care what format you’re thinking of using, be it Battle.net, AIM, MSN, Skype, Smoke Signals, Texts, Morse Code. Don’t do it. Also, because this has happened recently, I will not verify any of your hunches after you die. Keep it to yourself, take it to the Loser’s Lounge, if someone shares information they know, don’t bring it to anyone else’s attention that’s still in the game. If someone does this, PM me with the proof, and that person will face a ban.

  4. No discussing or plotting to break or bend the rules in your PMs, lovers and mafia. I’ll be in those conversations anyway, so that should go without saying. But just in case you think you can do it while I’m sleeping, think again. If you start discussing something that I don’t immediately catch, and that action is taken, once I find out, the perpetrator of the act and the instigator will both receive bans and DQs.

  5. If you are lovers or mafia, you will not be allowed into the Loser’s Lounge until you leave the Pm conversation after you die. It’s not entirely clear on how you do this by looking at it, but upon your death, simply click “Delete Conversation” on the left-hand side of the screen. This will only delete it on your end, and no one else’s.

  6. Do not try to get removed from the game after it already starts, or try to break the rules to get DQ’d. If something super unexpected happens, I’ll try to be reasonable, but overall, if you know you’re going to be busy, and unable to play at all, don’t sign up. If you suddenly see a full schedule hit your plate just before we start, ask me to take your name off the list, and I’ll put in an alternate. After we start, I’m not going to take your name off unless you have a really good reason, and I can find an alternate to take your place. Otherwise, don’t deliberately break a rule just to get a DQ. You will not just get a DQ, but banned.

  7. No posting images of PMs, even as a joke, in the game thread. If you are going to make a fake PM, do it so that it’s easy to tell at a glance that it’s fake.

Prologue:

“Sir, she’s waiting for you in the conference room” said Mr. Bidwell in a monotone voice.

“Can’t you see I’m eating my Steak and Eggs?” said Saxton Hale, taking a bite from the hindquarters of a large cow and shaking a chicken until an egg popped out into his mouth.

“Yes, Sir, only she’s rather insistent” continued Mr. Bidwell.

“Fine! PROPERTY DAMAGE!” yelled Saxton, as he crushed his way through the nearby wall, emerging from the rubble into a now disheveled Conference Room. **The Administrator **didn’t even bat an eye, as she continued to fix her makeup in a compact mirror.

“Saxton, charming as usual” she said, dismissive of his antics in a way only her voice could convey.

“What is so important? Our latest shipment of weapons has been delivered on time, has it not? I know you’re not doubting their quality.” said Saxton, mildly annoyed at even the thought his weapons weren’t up to snuff.

“Oh, yes, they were quite up to par, I assure you. But I’m here to talk about another weapon” she said, smiling a creepy smile.

“Another case of Jarate jars?” said Saxton, lost.

“No, I’m talking about the ultimate weapon” she answered.

“A Gallon Jug of Jarate?” said Hale, and visibly a light bulb went off above his head. “Bidwell, get R and D on this right away!” Bidwell nodded, and then exited the room quickly to dispatch the idea to Research and Development.

“No, you silly man. I’m talking about you.”

Saxton pounded his fist on the large conference table, splitting it in half, “What do you mean, me?”

“Both RED and BLU are in dire need of an awesome weapon to help steal the information the other possesses. You see, my Grandmother has the ultimate recipe for fried chicken, award winning. Each of the sides has half of the recipe locked in a vault, 100 yards from eachother. They both are trying their hardest to retrieve the other half. And yet, so far neither has been able to succeed. So they’d like to hire you.” She looked almost bored with the idea.

“Which side? I can’t bloody well work for both sides, can I?” Hale said, as he sat on top of the broken table.

“And why not?” the Administrator replied, motioning vaguely towards the machine she had set up in the corner. Saxton eyed it.

“Whats that’s fruity computer thingy doing here? Computers make me ANGRY!” Hale said, starting to rile up.

“My dear Saxton, it is a cloning machine. You step inside, I clone you twice. Send one of you to the RED team, one of you to the BLU team. Double the profits for you, and you don’t even have to take a break from your crocodile hunting” she said as she filed her nails.

“And what’s in it for you?” said Saxton to the shriveled old woman in front of him.

“That’s for me to worry about. Are you in?” she asked, staring back at him. It was the first time Saxton had ever broken a gaze on somebody in his entire life. “Good. Now hop in.”

Saxton jumped clean across the room, stood inside of the machine, and slammed his fist on the giant red button. Within seconds, 2 exact copies of Hale manifested besides of him. The 3 Saxtons all locked eyes. For a moment, it seemed as if they wanted nothing more than to kiss the most awesome specimin they had ever seen… and the next moment, they were all 3 wrestling on the ground to exert their dominance.

“Enough!” screamed the administrator, standing up. “I don’t have time for this drivel.”

The 3 Hales stood up, bruised and dirty, but stopped fighting. “So you want us to break in by force and steal the documents?” said the original** Saxton**.

“No, it has to be done sneakier. Choose one accomplice, and work your way into the base. Kill one person each night, until you outnumber the rest of the survivors. Then take it.”

“That doesn’t make any sense…” started one of the clone Saxtons. “Why don’t we just…”

He was cut off by the administrator. “You will do as I say, because it is how I want it done. Don’t question my methods.”

“Won’t they recognize us?” said the other clone Saxton.

“Luckily, we don’t clone them too smart” said the administrator. “Miss Pauling?”

A quiet woman, who up to now had spent most of the meeting hiding in the corner, stood herself up and dusted off her dress. She reached into her bag, and slid 4 paper masks across the table. “Luckily, we don’t clone them too smart” said Miss Pauling. “If you wear these, they won’t be able to tell the difference.”

“Good. Then It’s settled” said the Adminsitrator. “Cloned Hales, come with me. We have work to do.”

Day 1 Begin!

Day 1 is an extended day phase, all votes are due by Monday 9/16 at 9:00 AM PST

Checking in… What’s our first order of business? Discussing general lynch strategy? Anybody going to advocate for no lynch?

As a civ, I go by the “no day one no lynch” school of thought.

I always thought this… I just got mafia every other time, so I kept that to myself.

Normally I wouldn’t agree with the No Lynch.

However, with the odd number of 11 people in the game, an opportunity presents itself. We have the same number of wrong guesses as if there were only 10 people. Which means we can afford one day of No Lynch.

Of course, it doesn’t necessarily mean we have to burn it today. We can feel free to just take care of someone we decide is useless either due to comments in this phase or from past history and who knows, maybe we get lucky.

I wouldn’t count in the even/odd split. If we have a medic save, we buy some time.

One Medic save would buy us an extra wrong guess if necessary.

Maybe we should just throw someone’s hat in the ring for now and see how it goes.

Morning~ Checking in,
About no lynching, it’s viable, especially with this format.
However, it’s main drawback would be the lack of information we’ll have when we go to phase 2.
We can’t exactly analyze the wagons or votes properly if the mentality behind it was “Day 1 is going to be a no-lynch”.
Maybe forcing a tie would be better for those who wish to advocate no-lynch.

Usually we’d lynch Azure for merely suggesting a No Lynch (Hey, it worked in the AA and South Park games), but we only have 11 people. I don’t want to risk anything.
