SRK Mafia XVIII: Phoenix Wright - Back in Session -- Turnabout Icege (GAME OVER -- CIVILIANS WIN!)

Should have included this in my previous post

Like I said last time, the UC’s will probably know which UC they are by Day 3 barring any accidents.

You’ve probably given it some more thought than I have so hopefully they do know which one they are by then. Day 3 still feels too early to me for both of them to have figured it out though.

Day 3 is optimistic, but the idea behind RT’s plan holds some weight. Even if we have to wait until Day 4 for the UC’s to have a good idea which one they are, dividing a list between the two would most likely benefit us by decreasing the chance of UC’s investigating the same target in the future, even if they had overlapping results for any of the first couple of Days.

they should still pick a list and follow it. One person should randomly start at the beginning or at the end of a particular list and move up/down. This would minimize inconclusive results.

Although, for the lists, I’d probably order the list of players by post count, then give one UC the odd numbers (highest poster, third highest poster, fifth highest poster, etc.) and giving the other the even numbers. This’d make sure that both UC’s have a fairly equal variety of posters and if Mafia decides to target a specific type of poster, it’s likely to give a decent divide between the two lists.

The main problem I see with making two lists however, is that Mafia can target a majority of targets from one particular UC’s list, leading to them drawing from the other UC’s list. This however presents the problem of Mafia being the only ones left in the list they target, which is still a win.

Any other thoughts on investigation list order?

Talking about this strategy will pay off more than guessing on who we are lynching today with insufficient evidence. Just saying.

If we’re going with lists I agree that they should be ordered by post count or some other factor that’s not easy to influence from the mafia side. Or perhaps simply splitting the list on page one, or alternatively, a alphabetically ordered list could also work? (after removing the dead players of course)

Maybe so, but we still need to lynch someone today. I’d prefer if it wasn’t you, me or DG, but I think those are the top 3 as of this moment. There’s still plenty of people that haven’t voted though (and we can change votes), so the thread isn’t forced to vote for one of the three of us. We can spend some more time talking about these lists, but eventually we need to decide on a lynch for today.

waitminute, it’s not colossus lol. whatever I don’t really read comics

Ok so wtf? There’s the turnabout mechanic that you are forgetting (or hoping the rest of us are forgetting?). UCs can’t follow a public list or else one or both will be revealed to mafia.

Dividing the players between the UCs could be done a couple ways. If you think your name is likely shorter or comes earlier in the alphabet, you could take one list, for instance.

The Mafia will know that the UC('s)… are following a list? The only way they could gauge their identity is by killing off players that haven’t been investigated with the knowledge that the UC won’t investigate themselves. That still leaves a large group of people that haven’t been investigated, and every time Mafia kills a player that hasn’t been investigated, the ratio of investigated players:non-investigated players grows higher, giving us the advantage.

Regardless, Mafia still see which players the UC('s) hasn’t investigated, and there’s only a 50/50 shot that the UC’s will be in their own respective pools anyway.

I’m trying to understand how you came to the conclusion that UC’s following a list identifies themselves. If you’re referring to RT’s idea of going down the list sequentially, then yes, I agree that the UC’s shouldn’t pick from the list in order.

Disagree with this as well. If the UC’s have similar length names or alphabetically close names, we’ve just sent 2 UC’s to investigate the same group of people. The UC and the dUC will be able to figure out which one they are in a couple of days max.

Yeah dude I barely even played MvC2 and I was like “Motherfucker that aint even colossus.”.

Can we get a vote tally if anybody has the time? Either Alpha is a bandwagon or my eyes deceive me.

As far as people I currently dont like, Jason came off weird with his whole “I trust the most sandbagging-est fucker in the game”. Not only because RT hasnt been doing shit, but because it’s far too early to have a good enough read to actually trust somebody. I dont trust a god damn one of you as far as I could throw you. I just feel like there is more to Jason trusting him than he’s letting on. Some kind of added security in that bond the rest of us dont have.

I’ll be fair though, he’s tossing his hat into the ring a bit more often than Aidebit, Great cow lord, Iwinalot, and Augustus. I feel like his “UC’s do this!” list is pretty much useless due to how they dont know which they are. So I’m not sure if that was in hopes of looking more civ or what.

The vote tally I posted was edited with current results on the last page.

Oh yes. Sorry I was confused a little on how it was gonna work. Ok makes sense.

So who is that in the av?

Eh, it’s a pretty good plan, for what it’s worth. Wasting two of the UCs’ investigations is something that we should avoid. I think the UCs could make good use of that, if they manage to find out which one they are. Only complication I can think of is one UC realizing who he is, while the other is left in the dark, creating conflicts.

@JasonC, I believe that that’s Dr. Strange. Don’t take my word for it.

The list idea is good and one I’ve proposed a similar tactic in previous games. But making it 2 lists and having two people guess at which to look at makes me nervous
As stated it can let the mafia narrow down the UC’s by who is skipped in the lists.

Most nervous of all is the idea came from RT.

Anybody up for homework? This format apparently came from Noodle head per MPs comments and he ran games on TZ. Somebody find a game with this dUC format and see if this tactic was used before.

Also as an observation, anybody curious why Icege is on an 18+ hour flight? He’s on a plane in a few hours through 8pm PST. That’s a long flight don’t you think?
