Mafia seems to be on point with their role hunts this game and/or they’re better at readng the subtle hints than we are.
Would be nice if some of the more silent players cough @RECESSIONTIME cough could give some input on what’s happened this far and thoughts on who they’re going to lynch the next time they drop by.
I were unable to take the exam the first time it was held so that was a re-exam which are held at the end of the summer/winter breaks. Otherwise they’re held during the school periods.
Have you read the thread? If yes, does anything stand out to you, no matter what it is?
Think of it like Clue. We know somebody (Mafia) murdered the victim (Forge) but we don’t know all the details. What was the weapon, what reason did they do it for, what does them killing her over Augustus mean? It’s okay if you only think you have one part of the “solution”. Extending the metaphor, maybe you saw Professor Plum glancing towards the room where the victim was found before that was public information. Ideally we have about sixteen people all getting different takes on the same information and drawing different conclusions from them. If you have sixteen people analyzing someone to see if they’re lying you’re going to get more accurate results than if you only have one.
I’ve been following the thread, but nothing’s been standing out to me. I don’t get what’s supposed to be suspicious and what isn’t. I don’t know what one person is saying is supposed to reveal about them if anything.
I know he can’t respond to this, but I don’t voice any suspicions because I don’t have any. Like I said, I can’t read people. And I didn’t want to just throw around baseless accusations, so while my voting record is flawless, I voted no lynch both times.
…and before you go all OBJECTION on me, note that I’m using the past tense for throwing around baseless accusations.
Basically, look at the voting patterns for people. More difficult now with only two votes, but still something to gleam off of.
From there, look at who called their vote when. Did they waffle? Did they bandwagon? Did they drive? Did they vote counter to their claim without reason? Did they just not claim?
Next, look at their suspicions before and after each lynch/kill. Did something change without reason? Did their posting frequency shift? Did they ever suspect a now confirmed mafia or continually suspect only now confirmed civs?
If anything here sets of a twinge of suspicion, go investigate by following their post history in more detail, see if you find anything contradictory or out of place. From there, it’s just a matter of using your own judgement. It’s hardly easy to do right out of the gate, but we do have a few retirees due to how well they start understanding shit (which has caused them to always be either a day 2 lynch or a night 1 kill out of fear).
To waffle would mean to bounce between several people in an indecisive manner. Jumping on a bandwagon would mean just going along with everyone else in the vote. Driving meaning being the one to START a bandwagon. Claiming a vote is what you see a lot of people in here doing, as your vote is done by PM. No one sees it until result time. The claims are done out of courtesy as well as “to keep you honest”.
Mafia will tend to try to blend in and go with the flow to avoid being lynched. The thing is, that very behavior in itself is a telltale sign, so they may try to shake things up. Similarly, mafia tend to rarely vote for mafia unless they are a) attempting to set themselves up for a “see! I always suspected him!” thing or a bandwagon on a doomed teammate. Keep in mind mafia can talk with one another via PM, so they will try to do some coordination to keep each other alive as well. Some people here will keep running spreadsheets of info they’ve gleamed to wait for some kind of slip up they can easily read, like watching everyone’s suspect list and see who commonly doesn’t suspect one another. A triangulation of sorts.
But how are you supposed to tell? How can you tell if one is just shaking things up or is actually acting suspicious? What if they just slipped up and aren’t actually Mafia? What if someone is just changing their vote due to a changing of suspicion and there’s nothing there to actually read?
There’s too many variables to consider, too many possibilities, too much uncertainty. I can’t work with this.
