Oh, that. I haven’t really encountered that much recently, trying to avoid ranked matches for that very reason. It’s just silly. -_-
Sounds like when I’m playing friends in Smash and they call me cheap for edge-hogging. Or the time someone thought I was cheating when I basically steamrolled his team with Light Ball Pikachu of all things…
What? Who the hell are you playing with? What is wrong with troll teams? If they are so “bad” then the other person should roll it up easy especially in a game like pokemon that can snowball so hard. Knowledge is a huge thing in this game I know that because I missed a lot of generations and I simply don’t know what some of these things do I had to look up Stunfisk because I thought it was ground.
I mean SF online is a joke why even compare it to real SF. I see a lot of solid play at 3500 PP + though so I don’t think that is accurate even though it is extremely off topic.
there’s a different between trolling and being fucking stupid, moody bidoof was not trolling, it was god damn stupid
while you may think of it as trolling, the fact that it could sweep the instant it got an evasion boost means that moody is fucking stupid, there is nothing the opponent could do about it outside of running phazing moves on everything
it’s not that we dont’ prepare for bidoof, it’s just that you can’t, it gets an evasion boost and sweeps, this isn’t trolling because the opponent can’t do anything back without completely altering his team, it’s not like picking dan in SF and taunting your way to victory
Evasion is easier to counter/stop than Stealth Rock, is far less effective at doing its job than the sneaky pebbles are and that’s all I’m gonna say about that right now.
Oh, and if you lose to Bidoof then you are bad and your team is bad, Moody or not.
No-one uses counters to banned shit because the things those counters counter are banned, this stupidity self perpetuates after a while.
That said, defog is in there cleaning obsticles anyway, with great distribution come the end of the week in a game where everyone creams themselves over stealth rocks and it also handles evasion boosts.
SFII Akuma was banned for being unbeatable, he wasn’t banned in 3 or 4 though as he became beatable, evasion just went from “beatable but no-one runs it’s counters so bannned lololol” to “beatable by something a shitload of people will run”.
Glad me and my mates don’t play by smogon rules. (Well technically my team is legal by them atm, but it’s not inentional)
Eh, whatever. Evasion hasn’t been broken since Gen II, but no one will ever accept it…
Yet peeps out here throwing Rocks everywhere like monkeys but that shit gets to ride.
EVEN THOUGH everyone and their mama will be rocking Defog somewhere on their team to deal with the damn rocks that conveniently deals with DT as well.
Moody’s on some of the squishiest Pokémon around(and Octillery, but its slow as shit) and everyone always forgets that for the stat that gets sharply boosted, another one gets a -1 drop… It’s an ability that puts a lot of pressure on the opponent to stop you before you accumulate too many boosts… Kinda like Speed Boost…oh… wait…
Won’t go into Mega Kangaskhan, but I still ain’t lost to no Kanga and Roo, Super Chicken, or Smiling Ghost, but I did have a bad experience with Kuwagamon Aerilating holes in my team.
Oh well… Go ahead and dance your jig, Mood… Fear of change wins again.
He doesn’t get a fire move, that’s probably why, if he had fire he’d be rocking Skarmory’s world as well as smogon’s other favourite steel types and that just wouldn’t do.
Look at how Sharpedo resembles Blaziken so much with speed boost and gets a priority move on top, he ain’t murking no steel so it’s all good.
If people say evasion isn’t fun to play with then my hands are tied Po (and quite honestly praying for a hit just cause you didn’t run situational move A-D to cover it is never fun.) I’m still open to test it someday.
I understand no one wants to play with it, but I want somebody to logically break down for me their reasoning… and I would like said reasons to not boil down to “It’s stupid” or “I just don’t want to deal with it” because those are shitty reasons to COMPLETELY BAN something.
I believe the central argument here is that if evasion was allowed unchecked all battles would become a battle of evasion vs evasion, dragging battles out more than needed. You need specific counters to it and not every team runs those counters. It’s generally thought of as needlessly aggravating to play against, turning some battles into luckfests.
It introduces more luck into a game that people want to play competitively.
Plain and simple. Banning pokemon other than cream of the crop legendaries is a bit more debatable.
But the more probability a competitive game has introduced into it, the less skill is involved in winning.
I mean you can play dice games like craps competitively. But it’s not a skill based game because probability is the game. The ‘competitiveness’ of a game relies on having as little luck involved as possible.
Taking away evasion allows players to enjoy a game of Pokemon that has less luck introduced, yet allows players to play Pokemon in a mostly pure form.
Counters are made based on the meta game. Thing people forget is no matter how much thought you put into your team, you can’t counter/cover everything. If you could then everyone would run the same BS.
Luck. Everyone complains about luck in a game with Critical Hits and Random Damage, not to mention Confusion and Paralysis and the random number of turns you can lose to Sleep.
You can’t eliminate “luck” from this game, no matter how hard you try. Although there are moves that protect you from Criticals and Status that no one ever runs just like they don’t run Evasion counters and then complain about them anyway.
I just don’t see how anyone can sit there and justify Stealth Rock*(which everyone runs/tries to counter/factors into their calculations)* being in but claim Evasion would be too “over-centralizing.”
rocks can be dealt with, either through magic bounce, rapid spin, defog, or making a team that doesn’t give a fuck, let alone, removing it actually causes less balance that we currently have (it lets volcarona, dragonite, talonflame, and kyurem-b to run train)
evasion is dealt with through defog, haze, clear smog, and perfect accuracy moves, and outside of defog, the rest either suck dick or are terribly distributed, let alone, it causes too many headache and is way more centralizing the SR ever was and ever will be
moody is just stupid, it breaks the game, get out of here with your “if you get swept by bidoof you suck” shit, it’s literally broken, get an evasion boost and win, it’s evasion but worse, you keep gaining stats, and no, i’m not running swift whenever possible to beat it as that’s the only reason to ever use it, limiting creativity, fuck moody and everything about it
why ban mega kanga when blaziken and mega gengar are way better pokemon? mega kanga should be banned but the other two are far worse
