Ah stuff it, my team as a whole is more prodding buttock than kicking ass right now but I got a few decent individuals so sign me up for the rotation please.
i think it’s to the point where we can’t find anything that mega kangaskhan can’t do, even it’s support options are pretty damn good like
wish/protect/seismic toss/body slam, keep your team healthy, paralyze bitches, lay the smackdown on some hoes
how about
dizzy punch/body slam/rock slide/wish
paraflinchfusion with some healing, although…you’d probably kill them first before you get this off anyways, such a flaw
hell
return/power up punch/rock tomb or bulldoze/crunch might actually be quite usable, rock tomb the switch in so they’re at -2 speed (meaning you’re not getting outsped unless it’s some stupid jolteon carrying choice scarf)
wish/protect/circle throw/crunch for some stalling shenanigans or even drain punch/power up punch/return/crunch for staying healthy
i’m convinced parental bond is the most broken ability in the game outside of wonder guard (actually, wonder guard is only not broken on shedinja who would actually prefer sturdy over it), there’s pretty much nothing mega kanga can do
i don’t think counterpicks is the word you’re looking for, i know what you mean but i think you mean options
talonflame is really freaking good, i underestimated it in the beginning but priority brave bird/acrobatics is no joke, tyranitar and rotom-w/h the most reliable pokes you can use right now, after pokebank we get heatran
also, a lot of people are running 252 Atk/252 Spe jolly for some reason even though 88 HP/252 Atk/168 Spe Adamant is way more effective (which is probably closer to what you’re running), so that’s why they outrun your talonflame, don’t worry, but if you really need to, carry rotom-w (better than rotom-h because you have hydro pump to hit talonflame after it roosts), according to showdown stats, the 252/252 Jolly spread was run on 29% of all talonflames, while 252/252 Adamant was run on 20%, so it’s probably a similar scenario on wifi as well, don’t worry, you’re doing it right, just gotta carry something that beats it…as well as stealth rock (my main team on showdown has SR for the sole reason of talonflame)
Well, in terms of Kahn I just meant there are plenty of viable Pokemon that are relatively easy to use that you could throw on your team as a precautionary.
I’m curious, do you guys think Noivern and Charizard could make good Talonflame counters?
Only thing I can think of is tanking it and then killing it after recoil damage is taken into account. Something that can resist Brave Bird and Flare Blitz, like T-Tar or maybe Tyrantrum. And the aforementioned Stealth Rock works well against it too.
I wouldn’t consider Noivern or Charizard as “counters” to Talonflame. I don’t think they’re bulky enough to take a Brave Bird, and neither of them outspeed Talonflame even if you don’t take priority Brave Bird into account. If you’re intent on countering Talonflame you need to be able to tank the hits it gives out (which is part of the reason why I switched my Klefki to a dual Screen variant).
As for everyone else’s being faster…you’re using the Talonflame that you got from me, right? The one you requested which had perfect HP, Attack and Sp.Def IVs? The reason (in our case at least) is because it doesn’t have perfect Speed IVs, while the one I’m using does. And mine has 252 EVs placed in Speed. So even if you maxed out on Speed EVs for that Talonflame, mine would still out-speed it.
I still have another Adamant Gale Wing Fletchling with perfect HP, Attack and Speed IVs if you want to try using that one instead.
In my personal experience, a stalling Goodra (Toxic/Rest, ect) with Red Card can lead into some favorable situations, Blaziken with Protect can mess with stupid Sucker Punch bullshit…Zoroark can do some interesting things with his trickery, and also with Imprison/Sucker Punch on his moveset. Maybe give him a Focus Sash just in case, but it also helps that he’s Dark.
I dunno, that’s just some stuff off the top of my head. Mega Gyrados could probably put up a good fight.
I’m sure Mood is typing an essay to counter this, so I’ll skip that part.
What I’m concerned with is the fun factor involved in playing with M-Khan. Yes it may have situational counters, but if people find that they either have to run M-Khan or multiple counters to M-Khan and it still can run through them if it has the right set, then obviously something may be up.
Now I don’t think we’ve gotten to that point, but Mood and Bull ARE putting up some pretty good arguments.
The prankster ability that Klefki has gives it priority to Status moves, similar to how Gale Wing on Talonflame gives priority to Flying Type moves. If you used Flare Blitz instead of Brave Bird, I would get to move first. Reflect and Light Screen also gain priority with prankster.
It’s also why you would always go first with Gardevoir if you traced Klefki’s Prankster and then used Calm Mind.
Can generic MegaKangaskhan really do anything to Scizor, most notably the defensive Mega variant with strong defenses. I don’t really count Showdown Firepunch version which doesn’t exist yet and no Kanga packs Fireblast either. The interesting thing is that if they do, a Ghost type like Sableye could just wall her then and use Will~O~Wisp since Sucker Punch is the only move it can use to threaten them.
Just a thought…
I’m surprised how many refer to her as “him”, not that it matters but it’s interesting.
Didn’t it always? The whole point of that attack was getting a boost if you had a status condition… Burn still halving the Atk stat would be counterintuitive, no? Guts also ignores Burn.
Also still never run into problems with talon flame, keep rocks up, have things that have defense, hit it with stuff. I don’t even run rock pokemon which completely wall it.
