This is gonna be a long post; My apologies in advance, guys…
See, that’s the thing… I don’t actually DO anything different against a Kangaskhan than I would against a Blaziken or anything else… I simply play my set strategy. The current team I have has Chesnaught as one of my main ways of dealing with physical sweepers.
Yes. Chesnaught. You read that right.
I utilize Spiky Shield to nab some precious contact damage on the Maternal Pokemon, combined with a Rocky Helmet Avalugg(that thing is seriously bulky, I’ve taken down Talonflames with it) and Leech Seed/Body Slam. My Chesnaught also has Quick Guard for trolling Priority users like Scizor Bullet Punches/Fake Out/Gale Wing’d Brave Birds/Acrobatics.
So basically, I take damage maybe once every three turns and then Kanga has to deal with constantly hemorrhaging health every turn, especially if I already have Toxic Spikes down(I usually do). If I don’t have Toxic support, then I use Body Slam to get the paralyze on it(a riskier endeavor)
I essentially beat it by not really DOING anything…
Of course, these guys lose against a Fire Blast/Flamethrower Kanga, but I honestly have not seen anyone run that outside of myself and BullDancer… Even then, it’s only going to hit me with that if I predict badly/get outpredicted, but since no one knows what the hell my team is doing until its already too late, I win that duel the majority of the time.
I’m not saying its not a top level threat, for it most certainly is. After a single instance of Power-Up Punch, Kanga rips through most teams for free, whether you have Ghost types or not. I’m also not saying I’m some godly master of Pokemon*(I am most certainly not, as to this day, I have yet to win against White Shadow and a few of our other players here)*, but I’m no slouch, either.
I just don’t feel like we should be eliminating things from the game before we can get our hands on all the mons/moves/items/etc. and try them out against each other… This was the main reason I was so adamant about keeping M-Gengar and Blaziken around, as I knew Kangaskhan was gonna be a problem with them gone.
This is the same shit that happened last gen, just on an expedited timetable… Smogon refuses to learn from their past and turns a blind eye and a deaf ear to peoples’ pleas to let the metagame develop naturally. That’s all I’m asking.
