I have figured out my cool new team and should have it ready for the new tourney
then your team can’t take advamtage of the extra turn, or whoever is using willowisp should learn a move that can take advantage.
if a team is beating you, fycking counter pick on the next game. if you refuse to counter pick you are doing it run. if you hate playing against the same teams play with friends, and stop playing randoma. its akin to playing sf4 and then bitch that everybody played sagat…
I’ve noticed a distinct lack of Terrakion and Keldeo Showdown. They can both easily revenge kill Mega Kanagaskhan. Scarf Keldeo gets bonus points for handling Mega Lucario as well.
Mega Kanga isn’t too hard to handle once you figure out it’s moveset. Return/Double Edge, PuP, and Sucker Punch are pretty much guaranteed (unless it’s the lulzy Seismic Toss set), so once you figure out his last move he’s pretty easy to handle. Everything on my team can severely cripple or outright OHKO Mega Kanga, so I’m not too worried about it.
Here’s a battle I had yesterday. I thought I uploaded more than this, but I guess not http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/pokebankoubeta-66416026
That Seismic Toss set
Spoiler
Credit to user Innocent Criminal
when you combine her fantastic 105/100/100defenses with Wish, Knock Off and a ridiculously powerful Seisnic Toss, she supports the team like no other and there isn’t much your opponent can do against it.
Kangaskhan (F) @ Kangaskhanite
Ability: Early Bird
EVs: 36 SDef / 252 HP / 220 Def or 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 Def
Impish/Careful Nature
- Seismic Toss
- Wish
- Protect
- Knock Off/Crunch
The EV spread can be tweaked depending on your team, and the first one gives her optimal physical bulk while letting her survive Mega Gengar’s Focus Blast after Rocks to OHKO with Crunch. Going mixed is viable as well, but I didn’t find speed investment to be as helpful as bulk. If Gengarite is banned, I don’t see much reason to run Crunch at all.
To give you an idea of how bulky she is, using the physical spread:
252+ Atk Choice Band Technician Scizor Bullet Punch vs. 252 HP / 222+ Def Mega Kangaskhan: 120-142 (28.9 - 34.2%)
252 SpA Rotom-W Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 36 SpD Mega Kangaskhan: 150-177 (36.2 - 42.7%)
+1 252+ Atk Life Orb Gyarados Waterfall vs. 252 HP / 222+ Def Mega Kangaskhan: 200-238 (48.3 - 57.4%)
252+ Atk Choice Band Technician Breloom Mach Punch vs. 252 HP / 222+ Def Mega Kangaskhan: 240-284 (57.9 - 68.5%)
252 SpA Life Orb Keldeo Secret Sword vs. 252 HP / 222+ Def Mega Kangaskhan: 265-315 (64 - 76%)
She has plenty of opportunities to come in, and every time that happens she will achieve something significant. 90% of the metagame is 2HKOed by Seismic Toss, 252/252 Bold Jellicent is 2HKOed by Knock Off and even if you mispredict, nothing enjoys losing its item. That kind of pressure makes Wish-passing a breeze, and with Protect to heal herself Kangaskhan can outright beat most Pokémon she hits on the switchand she outright wins one-on-one against a significant amount of Pokémon. This set sure isn’t sweeping left and right, but it supports a team like no other.
Lol. That Kangaskhan got Guilty Gear Destroyed… *Now we just await for some yahoo to start talking about how they put Thunderbolt on their Kanga to beat Keldeo and its still broken.
How have you been faring against other Megas, like the aforementioned Gengar and Lucario? I’d ask about Blaziken, but, y’know…
for the standard play, the musketeers aren’t allowed as they aren’t released, in prebank, everyone is still using all the new stuff and them being weak to fairies doesn’t help either
what extra turn? if you don’t have a ghost, he’ll just PuP up and be back to normal, sucker punch and return will return to doing the fuckton of damage they usually do
keldeo can’t revenge kill a full health mega kangaskhan unless it’s spec’d up, it’s 2HKO’d by return to sucker punch and mega kanga survives secret sword 100% of the time, but if he takes almost any prior damage, then yea he does a pretty good job
terrrakion though works as a revenge killer, but don’t switch in, PuP to sucker punch is a 2HKO almost 100% of the time
My team dispatches Mega Kanghaskhan because trick room, but I made that team out of necessity.
I think Blaziken has been banned from pokeshowdown servers.
And Mega Kanghaskhan’s bulk is so high it’s ridiculous, Adamant Swords Dance boosted sucker punch from Mega Mawile does 80%-ish to full health mega Kanga.
A Kanghaskhan only invested in health.
Just to give you an idea of how fucking strong a Mega Mawile is after Swords Dance, his attack stat would’ve been 1356.
It would be less problematic to kill a Mega Kanghaskhan if he were easier to kill, but as it stands you couldn’t OHKO him with a super effective attack unless its choiced, orbed or boosted.
EDIT: Also xlxlxl’s team and the other guy’s looked damn near the same lol

LOL, can you think outside the box??
Or does this stiffle the creative process of building optimized teams with cookie cutter strategies
I understand trying to Sucker Punch Kanga with Sucker Punch to beat it w/Priority, but Mawile doesn’t get STAB on Sucker Punch… If your Sucker Punch did 80%, I imagine a Play Rough or Iron Head would have been an easy 100% KO, especially with Trick Room giving you the Speed advantage.
I wish Topsy-Turvy was on more dudes. Malamar turning peoples’ Swords Dances and Speed Boosts against them is cool, but Dark/Psychic typing and that odd stat spread does it no favors in regards to switching in…

Alright just for show, I tried a play rough instead in hopes that I couldn’t be OHKO’d by EQ, but ummm that’s how it worked out.
Life Orb, Quiet Nature Focus Blast couldn’t even successfully dispatch mega Kanghaskhan.
It’s not that he’s unstoppable, but the fact that he takes 2-3 pokemon just to beat him is an issue.
EQ would have done you in regardless… Hits twice, remember? Mawile will never outrun Kanga without Trick Room/Paralysis support, though, so it was moot to try for the Play Rough outside of it.
Not saying that thing isn’t dangerous(all Mega Pokemon are deadly), but it had a really decent check in Blaziken… Getting rid of Blaziken just gave Kanga free reign to ride roughshod all over the place.
The dominoes will keep falling now…
^ For some reason, I agree with that.
But the other Megas are much less dangerous. I feel like once Mega Kanghaskhan is gone, there won’t be a must use mega out there.
Sadly, even Mega Blaziken can’t clean up all this damn Genesect. He’s too fast and is the epitome of hit and run. It’s to the point where me and my opponents end up with Genesect sudden death matches. Like I run choice scarf infernape just so I can THREATEN an OHKO flare blitz and do the same U-turn shenanigans.
He’s more ban worthy than either Blaziken or Kanghaskhan.
Download scarf turn, and just when you think you managed to chase him down, you get smacked with your favorite super effective attack of choice(play on words) that may have gotten a download(basically allowing him to be auto-wearing a specs or band) boost.
Genesect has always been retarded. One of the few dudes I actually 100% agreed with Smogon on. There is no way that thing should be allowed to roam without allowing the other Mewtwo-esque monsters loose…
Which is ironically why I lol’d that Smogon or any other “competitve” server would even allow it while Blaziken, Gengar, and Kangaskhan are getting all the hate thrown on them…
Mewtwo-like stats, Download, a godly movepool, AND one of the stupidest moves ever created in U-Turn? Mega Gengar ain’t got shit on Genesect…
Hi, this is probably a dumb question, but when trick room is on, do priority moves go first still (like extreme speed/aqua jet)?

Yea, they do.

i didn’t disagree with you…just said they can only revenge kill, they can’t switch into anything safely, really nothing can except for a few ghost types and something with stupid bulk (like avalugg)
megakanga is ridiculous but i agree with po, genesect is dumber than all of these, download + u-turn on top of 120 offenses with probably the most ridiculous movepool outside of mew and smeargle, do i have to mention that awesome typing
I so want to run that S toss Kanga set! evil indeed!
Genesect I would nickname him Terminator. Thing is a real monster!
he doesn’t actually terminate things, he’s just the best offensive pivot ever created, which on top of it scouts like a mother fucking as he deals almost half your life with each u-turn
he’s just…really fucking good

Do you overthink everything? look that’s what I would nickname mine…just like how I nickname every one of my pokes. For example, my Gengar is called Spooky, my Salamence is called Ryu (Sakura for my female one) and My Starmie is called Starscream just to name a few. Seriously…you read your own posts? you should and realize you need to stop posting and calm down.
so i disagreed with his nickname? is it really that big of a deal?

No you went on to explain something that had nothing to even do with what I said. Again you don’t read what people say much less you own words do you?
