SRK Competitive Pokemon Battling Thread: Logoghoul and White Shadow Win! Bye Gen 6!

The only thing i say we have to ban is destiny bond

Fuck that move.

By any chance do you have any cleats to wear?

That set inspired 3 torment users of my own!

Toment cloyster I used on my hail teams

Toment
Protect
Poison Jab
Spikes

Dusknoir
Torment
Protect
Pain split
Night Shade

Nidoqueen
Torment
Poison Jab
Substitute
Roar

and for fun I realized I never got to use on my SS team an unlikely pkmn. Solrock!

Bold Nature 252 HP, 252 DEF, 4 Sp ATK
Calm Mind
WoW
Grass Knot
Flamethrower

BAsically is meant to throw off it’s counters. Comes in on an EQ, they switch I CM up and assuming water, grass knot it, if grass/bug, I flamethrower. otherwise WoW instead on switch to cripple their counter. never tried it to see if it really could surprise anyone.

How do I watch a video I saved?

I used it in R/S, Heatran didn’t exist then and ghosts were far from a threat in general. This was the age of the Choice Banders (Heracross) who couldn’t do anything to this set. Some players sometimes carried 2-3 CBers on their teams which basically made half their team useless. Struggle deaths were magnificent!

And for status moves, Protect makes for an excellent scouting tool. Not to mention you can tell what kind of Pokémon have it.

262 max Def + Bold Nature wasn’t the best, but back then it did its job, esp. with Screen support.

VS Recorder in Key Items bag.

Thanks White Shadow.
Also I don’t see what the big deal is about Mega Gengar, I have only fought him twice but I have 1hko’d him both times by neutral STAB attacks. Once the tournament is over, if you don’t like how someone plays just don’t fight them again. This is all supposed to be for fun

Well, I just saw a good idea I want to take…

Charm Sylveon lol

if you OHKO’d someone’s megagengar, then the opponent you played was an idiot for leaving it in against that poke
yes it’s frail but it still has enough defenses to be 2HKO’d by any neutral attack

the problem with megagengar is that he’s not supposed to 6-0 your team, he takes away the biggest threat of your team with no effort, once he’s done that, he can proceed to die and let his sweeper straight up murder your team

he does this way too well with little to no effort and there’s almost nothing you can do about it, he also destroys bulky offense teams and stall teams on his lonesome, allowing something like lucario, dragonite, etc. to just run train

he runs a perish song set better than every other trapper because of the first turn, he doesn’t trap something, he can force the switch, then perish trap your next pokemon who is most likely slower (what are there like…9 non uber pokes who outspeed him), he can then sub, protect, and then switch out and your poke is now dead, or if you have priority, he might as well try for 2 protects as no priority outside of absol’s sucker punch can OHKO him (well actually, you can EV him to survive a sucker punch and he’ll still be able to OHKO megaabsol with focus blast but it’s a terrible spread)

yes he’s easy to kill but unless you run pursuit, why would you keep megagengar in on something that can kill him? especially when he can be tailored to take out that pokemon anyways, he’s stupid and shadow tag takes him way over the top to play any semblance of a regular fight

My Dusknoir can almost OHKO Mega Gengar with Shadow Sneak. With a critical he gets put in the red. This usually leads to Dusknoir getting peaced out, but any other Pokemon on my team could easily take him from that point on.

Even if they try to Destiny Bond you, it’s usually readable. Just act accordingly.

The point is if your dusknoir got peaced out in that manner by mega gar it’s probably because the mega gar user was pretty sure one or more of his pokemon could walk through the dusknoir shaped hole in your team to victory.

Dusknoir will probably be sent in due to a team member death. So, assuming the Mega Gengar I’m facing knows Dusknoir learns Shadow Sneak, it’s up to him (Gengar) at that point to decide if he wants to risk taking massive damage from the move or switch Pokemon to bait it. Either way it forces him to make a very unfavorable decision.

the most dusknoir can do with sucker punch is 87%, never a OHKO with SR while megagengar does a minimum of 84.3% with shadow ball, over 90% chance to OHKO with SR out

shadow sneak does 66.4% max using the same spreads

this is also using 252 HP / 252 Atk / 6 SpD adamant for dusknoir and 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 6 HP Timid for megagengar

So this piece of shit program crossed my view just now;

Why do people hate fun nowadays?

I’m putting a bounty on the head of whomever created this abomination. The reward is 2 Nuggets and a Masterball.

hmm I could use another master ball…

Well that just kills everything…

Well, there’s yet another reason for me to avoid the battle spot.

Great, now someone from the New Orleans Saints will collect.

Breloom (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)

  • Spore
  • Power-Up Punch
  • Mach Punch
  • Bullet Seed

Technician Power-Up Punch is a really big deal, it allows Breloom to go on the offensive and boost, plus with STAB+Technician, it has base 90 power…

It gets walled and killed by every psychic and ghost in the game, so just know when to switch out. Spore most notably stops Aegislash in his tracks before the switch though.

This is the strongest set I’ve made with him thus far. This is the first set I’ve almost swept with, so this is definitely the one when it comes to breloom sets.

that actually seems like a good set, i’d really watch out for lum berry pokemon like dragonite and trevanant though, while psychic types resist fighting, a lot of them don’t have high physical defense and especially won’t like taking a +1 mach punch

although, if you want, you can always replace PuP with swords dance
