l finally feel like I’m getting into the groove with breeding/training again. One Pokémon fully trained, 5 more to go. Hooray for Horde EV Battling!
I like running stupid shit most of the time, but i’ve never tried this. Is running a team with one type and variable 2nd types doable??
It’s something i’ve always wanted to do, but never did because there wasn’t enough variety, there is now.

heh then again in D/P pre Plat it was if you had Mence, it was Specs, D nite was DD/Outrage, and CHomp was Scarfed so in a way it WAS predictable…but stupid regardless.
well specsmence is good until we get lati@s who run a very similar specs set way better
What are your guys opinion on the move parting shot? It lowers the enemies atk and special atk and then the user switches out. The only pokemon that is known to learn this move is pangoro.
Parting Shot is the best scouting move in game given to a pokemon with pretty crappy speed, a choice scarf may mitigate this a little bit, but something with 58 base speed isn’t outrunning very many threats regardless.
Pangoro only holds a niche in his signature move, otherwise, he’s pretty mediocre.
Only set I’ve thought of for him that I haven’t tested would be

But his movepool is pretty barren and he can’t even be used to trap ghost types due to a lack of pursuit, and his stats are really meh…
In the upper tier metagame, he doesn’t have very much of a presence.
Parting Shot is awesome and would be broken on anything remotely speedy, so they gave it to the badass Panda hoodlum so it would have something to make it stand apart from Scrafty(the other Dark/Fighting type) and the other badass bear, Ursaring.
As for that Speed and making use of Parting Shot, two words.

going second is fine, since that helps him scout their move and then react
Great move given to a sub par pkmn. Then again on a pkmn that’s good, it’s broken.

Speedy Parting Shot is crappy IMO. Might as well use U-Turn, as your switch in is still going to get hit. A slow, bulky Parting Shot user would be much better because it can take the hit then bring a set-up sweeper in unharmed. It seems like a weaker, but reusable Memento.
Agreed. Imagine a Pokémon with Prankster and Parting Shot?! Zomg!
It’s a shame about Pangoro’s typing this gen, although it’s my favorite design in XY. IMO, there’s still some untapped potential in Yusuke Panda…
It’s great that a pokemon can lower a target’s attack/special attack, and then bounce to a complete counter that will be able to eat the hit and force the switch. This attack is especially good versus a special attacker because they have less common ways of boosting. If a pokemon with parting shot is fast, this awesome effect is reusable. If they aren’t, the parting shot user has to eat a hit just to use this move. Imagine if a fast pokemon with fake out or a prankster got this move. It would be the most awesome lead pokemon in the game.
What sucks is that the move went to something that can be easily outsped, has very poor coverage, and is substitute bait.
With a choice scarf, it can outspeed Pokemon with base 90 speed which makes parting shot a bit more appealing since it can be used more than once. Beyond that, its Ursaring with better stats but worse abilities.
What if a pokemon can learn parting shot as an egg move through breeding? Has anyone tested this out yet? By looking at pangoro’s egg group, im going to test if eevee and sneasle can learn it, but first I’m trying to breed a fennekin with perfect IV in HP, Sp Atk, Def, Sp Def, and Speed first before I go test it out. Right now I got a fennekin with perfect IV in HP, Sp Atk, Def, and Sp Def, but no speed.
So far it looks like this move cannot be inherited by any pokemon, and it can only be known by Smeargle(for obvious reasons) and Pangoro lol
Speaking of Smeargle, he could probably run a parting shot set better than Pangoro
So, Smeargle can’t pass on any moves it gains from Sketch? I don’t know for sure.
