although greninja and talonflame could keep blaziken in check, it’s probably still ridiculous
baton pass on speed boost blaziken basically allows blaziken to gives it’s counters the middle finger and pass on it’s speed boosts to another pokemon…allowing that guy to now sweep
while yes, you can do the same thing with ninjask, ninjask definitely does not have the offensive presence that blaziken has, especially when blaziken can do it with 2 moves (ninjask can’t 2HKO everything even after a speed boost)
just check blaziken with mewtwo

Chandelure gives Blaziken problems too. It would have to start carrying Shadow Claw to be a threat.
Trick Room give it the middle finger as well.
Blaziken is just like any other high-priority threat, except more predictable- Protect/Swords Dance/Flare Blitz/HJK sometimes Shadow Claw, but either way very easy to see coming and plan around.
I still lol at the fact that Blaziken used to get shit on by Smogon, now its more feared than Gen VI Garchomp…
all of those are checks and none of them can switch into him safely
talonflame has to hope SR isn’t out (and when using blaziken…it probably will be)
ditto i’m pretty sure gets OHKO’d on the switch in
sticky web to my knowledge is only usable by the spiders, who both get rocked by blaziken
chandelure, unless scarfed, can’t do crap to blaziken (baton pass)
everything else just straight up gets demolished, although i’m pretty sure you guys wouldn’t mind doing a complex ban just to use blaziken without speed boost (which would be welcomed)

Apparently, Blaziken has six moves and a full team and I’m only using one of its checks to stop it. I guess Blaziken is the most overpowered Pokemon since R/B/Y Amnesia Mewtwo(who also carried six moves for all its checks)…
Any fighter that requires special rules and restrictions in order to be competitive isn’t worth the time.

I watched it on finals days, it was entertaining enough, but even then people bitched about wobbling being overpowered. I’d much rather have seen ST in it’s place or a lot of other deserving games, but I like that it brought in a new audience.

It’s shallow. Ultimately, for all the attempts to ban accuracy debuffs/evasion buffs, the series is still about dice rolling.
There could be depth, if Game Freak gave a shit.

No it was definitely condescending. You pretty much said that we’re wasting our time.
But I’ll say Specs is right on one thing. Still too much dice rolling, but it’s impossible to get the series away from that. If you made everything 100% accurate and no Crit Hax, then things would just be incredibly boring.
So who knows, maybe it’s not meant for it. But there are plenty of things that weren’t meant for competitive…anything, and yet people found a way to make it work.
