hm, november 17th might actually allow me to build a team (since i’m assuming wifi) but i can’t get a guarantee but i would love to do it, put it down as a maybe since i can’t be 100% sure yet
i said this before, a counter is something that can safely switch in on all moves and threaten the opposing under any situation
ditto gets OHKO’d by HJK on the switch, it is not a counter, and if blaziken has protect, you’re even more screwed as he can scout the move, and then switch accordingly
baton pass isn’t only used for BPing boosts, it’s also a great scouting move, a good example of this was gen IV jolteon, it’s main set was:

baton pass allowed it to scout the opponent and not forcing yourself in a bad situation, it’s a better double switch since you already know the pokemon your opponent sent out, it’s not as good as u-turn but still very good at doing its job
while blaziken, ninjask, and now scolipede can all run similar BP sets, the reason why blaziken is so much better than the other 2 is because of his offensive presence, fire / fighting coverage is amazing, it hits grass, bug, rock, steel, ice, normal, and dark for SE damage while only a few double typings resist it. He also has a base 120 attack to back up that great offensive combo, and on top of that really high attack, he has a base 120 fire attack and a base 130 fighting attack (with stab you get base 180 and base 195 respectively), making him much harder to switch into than either scolipede and ninjask
also, when accounting for counters, you have to take into consideration almost every option available, his main set is:
Flare Blitz
High Jump Kick
Swords Dance
Baton Pass / Protect
but he is capable of forgoing either swords dance or the 4th slot for a coverage move like shadow claw or stone miss, they are usually not used because of the situations you had those attacks, you can usually baton pass away to a poke who better deals with the problematic pokemon
on the contrary, blaziken is hard to switch in, he’s frail as all hell, his best bet is coming in on a bug type
but he’s almost guaranteed a swords dance because of the nature of pokemon, forcing switches:
if played right, the blaziken player brings in blaziken on a move that does little to no damage to blaziken, end of this turn, blaziken is at +1 Spe, since you probably have a full life pokemon that is important to your team (like a forretress, let’s say), you’re going to switch out, allowing him a free swords dance, after you’ve switched, he’s now at +2 Atk and +2 Spe which is equivalent to 678 Atk and 578 Spe, which is faster than everything not holding a choice scarf and he’s only used 1 move
you can say ninjask and scolipede can do something similar but while they can, neither have the attack stat nor the powerful moves that blaziken does (both bug/flying and bug/poison have redundant coverage while fire/fighting definitely does not)
now when you compare blaziken to other pokes of similar nature, you do tend to realize that outside of white herb shell smashers, no other boosting pokemon gets this kind of boost after only 1 turn
combusken sucks dick, he’s terrible and gains nothing from eviolite
on your last point which states “Niggas be like “Blaziken could come out of nowhere with a baton pass after swords dancing and protecting for the free boost” If I see those three moves used, it’s predictable.”, you haven’t really paid attention to what i said in my last defense of why blaziken is stupid
some pokes deal better with his BP set while others deal better with the protect set, (my last example had alakazam who is one pokemon that actually handles the BP set better than the protect set) but when referring to whether a pokemon counters another pokemon, you have to take into account all option which really if you do, then nothing actually counters him (if he carries stone edge, a +2 stone edge OHKOs chandelure, moltres, talonflame, and dragonite (even through multiscale with 252/252 +def) without SR and has almost a 50% chance to OHKO azumarill after SR)
although, i’ve said a lot about why blaziken is dumb, he still should be tested and since we are a small community, he may not be as bad as he would in a much larger community like smogon
he is not unbeatable and yes, obviously prediction > everything else, but given that, the blaziken players prediction comes with much less risk than that of the non-blaziken player
I don’t see why Azumarill isn’t considered a blaziken counter… He resist both of his stabs and threatens it with Aqua Jet. He isn’t OHKO’d by a non-boosted stone edge either.
i just really really really want to say that “i beat blaziken with pikachu so blaziken isn’t that good” is A LOT LIKE SAYING i beat morrigan [umvc3] with like ghost rider, morrigan isn’t that good
like no. wrong. player skill. no one is good at competitive pokemon [blanket statement].
i don’t think blaziken should be banned [probably won’t get many chickens anyway] but i think he’s dumb. i think everything is pretty dumb though.

i just did the calcs, there’s a 43.75% chance for a OHKO after a +2 Stone Edge after SR, not guaranteed but still has that chance for a OHKO
and that’s only 252 HP / 252 Atk Adamant Choice Band Azumarill (as it’s the only way he gets a OHKO with aqua jet while surviving any option blaziken has)
6v6 Singles. Evasion, Sleep, One Hit KO, and Moody clauses are on. No Mewtwo, Xerneas, or Yveltal. You got till the 17th to get ready.
