Haha, I hear you there. Contrary to how it looks like in my post, I’m in fact NOT a Smogonite. I just refer to Smogon rules because it’s pretty much the easiest way to refer to a specific ruleset, but as far as community goes I am, and will not ever think of associating with them.
For one thing, I know most of them wouldn’t find any success in any fighting games because they whine more than they adapt. I pretty much just seldomly stalk the forums for laughs about how shitty most of these guys are when talking.
Heh, I apologize; should’ve known that for any comm outside of Smogon, Smogon is pretty much ill-received. Don’t worry, as I said above, I’m not a Smogonite at all. I just pretty much look to the site for reference.
Because admittedly enough some of the smartest and most dedicated guys are pretty much sleeping over there. Specifically, when I start scratching my head about a few calcs I go over there to check if someone has an answer.

Truth be told I don’t give an honest shit about your fun. I’m tired of seeing the thread get derailed every damn day. Now obviously the fault falls on Mood for the most part since you’ve outright stated that you’ll never listen to a word he says even when you would want advice and he still comes anyway. But since he would stop I would hope you’d have the good sense for everybody to put him on the Ignore List so you don’t give into impulse and fire back at him.
Just do it for the good of thread stability and for the people in the thread you actually have respect for. Obviously that isn’t me, I know you don’t like me, but for the others.

I forgot to respond to something po pimpus said at the top of the last page: I only apologize for getting crits when they make what would otherwise have been an interesting match kinda foregone. I don’t generally condone forfeiting, but sometimes you can see the end half a dozen turns ahead of its arrival, even if you’re bad at chess.

I don’t “hate seeing” Rotom-W. I just find him lazy-ish, especially on Gamefreak’s part. We’ve been over this though. It “helps” that I also genuinely like the other non-Fan Rotom form(e)s better and Rotom-Mow is the one Rotom that can tell Rotom-Wash to fuck off, but I can see how Rotom-W would be more proactively better (unfortunately). I don’t mind trying Rotom-W out, though I’m limiting it to just one team even if it may improve other later ones. Still, it’s not like it’s Genesect or Manaphy or Mega Lucario or even Volcarona.

I honestly forgot that Escavalier even existed given I wasn’t around for Gen V. It doesn’t help that I’ve literally seen only one instance of someone using it in replays. I’ve seen more Durant than Escavalier if we’re talking about Gen V Bug/Steel types I’ve yet to use (that aren’t assholes like Genesect).

On team switching: For this particular one, please use one team for the entire duration of the tournament. It will be hard to regulate this [e.g. movesets/stats in particular], but one way is to send replays to me of every tournament match via PM.
If I suspect you I will PM you, if I have real proof [two replays of you with different pokemon altogether] I will give your opponent the option of taking the win and moving on.
If you are new to Pokemon Showdown
Make a team with the team builder. When you click New, look at the Format drop down box and select “OU”.
When you are done making your team (don’t forget to change your EVs and IVs to what you want them to be, and remember that Hidden Power will automatically change your IVs) you should test it out on Pokemon Showdown’s OU Ladder just in case it has anything that isn’t within the OU rules (it won’t let you join a game on the ladder if so).
Matchmaking: I will ask that you figure out matchmaking yourselves either via PM or within this thread.
The easiest way is to use Pokemon Showdown’s built in chat rooms. Pick one of the less populated ones (for example, Video Games) and meet up in the same chatroom. There you can challenge each other under the OU rules by clicking on the other’s username in the chatroom.
Replays: Showdown has a replay function (click “Share Replay” after the match), however, please do not post replays in this thread, at least until the tournament is over.
In fact, if you PM me your replays, I’ll go through them and post which ones I think were good at the end of the tournament ;]
Please do not post in this thread anything giving away strategies/movesets of your opponent’s Pokemon.
The names of Pokemon should be okay, since there is no team switching and you should see your opponent’s entire team in Team Preview anyway.

I have the following reasons for 2/3 and no team switching:
I’m possibly open to 3/5 as it gives players more time to adapt and flesh out strategies vs your opponent’s team and without switching it can be a big deal. However, I wanted to keep the matches somewhat quick.
No team switching is because I want to avoid counter picking issues between matches. It also makes picking your team much more important from the get go, which I think is realistic.

The only thing that irks me about the format is the best 2 out of 3 format (I don’t think it works as well in Singles as it does in Doubles; IMO I like my Singles at best of 1), but other than that I guess I’ll join too.

another team I threw together. yes I’m bored but unlike previous gens, this gen I’m having a hard time choosing what I like…nothing is sticking to me like before…
I love Clefable more and more though…and I have been seeing now a LOT of Garchomps running Poison Jab now…I forsaw that happening. Not so crazy anymore since I added it on since the start. In a way I can understand why.
i have yet to see poison jab on garchomp, it’s essentially useless as EQ does the same amount, using poison jab leaves him walled by either steel types or bulky flying types, once you hit 1250 you should never see it
and obviously, i am down to win participate in the showdown tournamnet
