Attacks that do recoil damage/lower your own stats don’t count with the exception of Flare Blitz(because it also has a chance to burn). Life Orb recoil is negated also with any attack that is Sheer Force boosted.
Nidoking also got its base Special Attack stat raised this gen to 95, IIRC.
So recoil doesn’t count. Hmm, I see… I’ve never had a Pokemon with this ability, so when I heard about it, I assumed it was only physical attacks that got boosted.
With the boosts he got, it would be really good to run a physical or mixed set, since I’d assume that the opponent would anticipate fighting a special based nidoking.
Too bad he has no ground type moves that get boosted in the physical side. Stab earthquake looks surprisingly weaker than earth power.
Either way Nidoking hits like a damn truck and has the Special Coverage of the damn gods. Even Genesect is jealous.
If they gave Nidoking any more buffs the thing would be a terror over everything. What he has now is plenty damn respectable for an ole Gen 1 favorite.
he has worse coverage and worse attacking stats than genesect but he gets stab on everything and has significantly faster speed, allowing it to run life orb and not be choice locked [although this doesn’t really matter for u turning]. i think greninja is like… pretty significant
(got his ass kicked by special-oriented, Sheer Force Nidoking just three days ago
It literally fainted 5 out of 6 pokemon on the slow ass Tyrantum team I was using since it gets so much coverage. I wouldn’t be surprised if that particular Nidoking also had Expert Belt. Granted, it was more picking things off than OHKO’ing stuff, but since most things were still fairly healthy…)
Noted about AV Escavalier, r00ster22. Also noted about AV Hariyama, who isn’t the Fighting type I’m using…currently; good guess though, po pimpus–I’d forgot about him even though he’s one of the Fight types I like more.
I should probably just make a list somewhere of new and improved pokemon I still want to use like Zoroark, Moletta (?), improved Ditto, etc. I’m using two newer pokemon on my latest team, one of which is Bisharp, who is one of the few pokemon from Gen V whose visual design I instantly liked. I’d gush over how good Bisharp is if Mood4food77 hadn’t made a list just last page, but gods, I thought Choice Band Adaptability Crawdaunt’s STAB Knock Off was degenerately powerful. Being able to attain that same level of power with just one Swords Dance and being able to switch moves, though, with one of them STAB Sucker Punch?
Haha. I’d feel bad if there weren’t worse things running around.
Anyway, I’ll try play some more with the newer team tonight, though it’s doing surprisingly decently with me at the helm. So, for now, I’ll just post a couple of Ubers matches that aren’t mine that are actually surprisingly decent. Well, the first one is Gen V Ubers, so it’s far more amusing than “decent”, especially given the level of hax. Still, there’s more competent play there than most of the other Ubers replays I’ve watched, so…:
By the way, I’ve been pretty lax about people dropping out of matches without fighting and matches not getting done. Expect that to change next tournament.
Do you guys think Lapras could be a good AV pokemon?
I’m just thinking it could be a good counter to the washing machine.
Since you can breed Freeze-dry into it.
