SRK Competitive Pokemon Battling Thread: Logoghoul and White Shadow Win! Bye Gen 6!

so basically…superpower, that we can work with,

Azumarill @ Choice Band
Adamant / Huge Power (or whatever it’s called)
252 HP / 252 Atk / 6 Spe
Aqua Jet
Waterfall
Play Rough
Superpower

seems like a completely usable set for the water rat, HP EVs for the bulk, it’s speed is terrible anyways

So, I just so happen to have an Adamant/Technician Breloom… Can’t let that go to waste. What do? I’ve never used one before, but I’ve heard about its Spore shenanigans.

spore got nerfed that it can’t be used on grass types anymore but anyways

Breloom @ Life Orb
Adamant / Technician
252 Atk / whatever else you want, seriously doesn’t matter
Mach Punch
Bullet Seed
Spore
Swords Dance / Filler

I honestly don’t know what to use as a filler, low sweep got nerfed as it’s Bp was increased to 65 and force palm is terrible to use in tandem with spore, we all hate stone edge, does it learn zen headbutt or something? Swords dance is very viable here as well

it’s pretty simple, get him in, if they have a grass type on the team, sword dance and attempt to blast holes in opponents, once the grass type(s) is gone, spore a counter and proceed to do damage

he sucks against flying and bug types so spore those guys

So I started making a team but I had no idea how complicated it could be. So much stuff to think about.

LOL Breloom is a bro. It’s one of my favorites. I used to use it a ton in Gen III on my Team Focus Punch-- Just pure rape. I’ll tell the story one day

Much like my other favorite, Scizor I haven’t used it much since all the bandwagoners started whoring it out due to Technician shenanigans… But GameFreak took him out back and beat the shit out of him with the nerf bats- took away Tech Low Sweep(leaving it only Force Palm/Mach Punch/Bullet Seed for Tech trolling), making it so Grass types no sell Spore, and giving Sap Sipper out to a few more useable mons (Goodra and Gogoat of the top)…

But yeah, Mood4Food’s got the right idea-Max Attack/lot of HP/maybe some Def or Sp. Def.

If Techloom gets Power-Up Punch, that’s a viable filler option or maybe Poison Jab for the Fey Folk coming to ruin your Punch Party.

Dragon Band/Specs sets are no longer viable due to fairies(if you like being locked into a dragon move that’s your business though), Garchomp has retarded amounts of attack in sandstorm, high bulk, immunity to thunderwave, STAB EQ, stealth rock resistance and only 3 weaknesses.

Even base garchomp is incomparable to a Kyurem.

If you run into a threat that you expect to OHKO and outspeed you under normal circumstances, mega evolve, survive and handle him instead.

Since Excadrill is now legal again, you can use him as clean up crew and run a bulky Garchomp instead.

force palm isn’t very good on breloom, most good grass types resist fighting anyways and he wants to be spreading sleep, not paralysis

i personally run a 252 HP / 252 Atk / 6 Spe or a 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 6 HP spread, his defenses are really bad so maxing out his HP gives him the best defense you can get while running max attack

breloom getting power-up punch would be sweet as hell, base 90 fighting move guaranteed to make you stronger, i’ll take one

Yea, it gets Power-Up Punch. No Poison Jab, though.

I like a Base 40 Power move is all the rage right now. Certain peeps at another site were shitting all over it- "Why would I use PUP when I have Swords Dance?"
Because you’re doing damage and buffing yourself at the same time, jackass. It’s a Technician-boosted Bug Bite that raises your Attack. Not to mention you’re not shutdown by Taunt and can’t have your buff stolen by Snatch…

Glad we think outside the box here, SRK. Use all the tools at your disposal.

it also depends on the pokemon

for example, against blaziken, a ghost type will want to switch in hoping that the blaziken used high jump kick, so using a swords dance on the switch is way better than using power up punch (which would deem useless), blaziken gives no fucks if you taunt him cause he’s dumb and will probably rip you in half if you tried

on breloom, ghost types (outside of the trevenaut and gourgeist) are iffy switching it because of spore and bullet seed hits like a truck, and his power up punch being base 90 definitely has it’s perks on something that deals with ghost types pretty well

breloom is like the easiest pokemon to use

salt

i’m glad he got nerfed

other easiest pokemon is like scizor but i like him dohohoho

two broken moves were introduced to this gen but IDK about their availability
sticky web (entry hazard that reduces speed) but only ariados (terrible) shuckle (terrible but less terrible) and galvantula (not terrible) are confirmed to have it atm

parting shot is a baton pass that lowers their atk / spA which is INCREDIBLE. but only pancham/pangoro seem to have it, and i don’t know who else would get it as an egg move (i’ve tried mawile and zorua LOL no dice)

LMK if you know any other pokemon who can get these moves

yeaaaaa, spore and then punch babies, i feel you

didn’t stop me from putting him on almost every time

Metagross is going to take a huge drop in usage imo, he has 4 weaknesses that are common offensive types.

Fire, Ground, Dark, and Ghost, this guy is through lol

he fucks up fairy’s pretty damn well though, and he still does a good job coming in on outrage

he still has uses

That’s why I was so turned off to Competitive battles during late Gen IV-Gen V… Too much brain-dead easy to use stuff being used. Choice Band this, Choice Specs that, Stealth Rock and watch things die in 1-2 turns… Boring.

I’m no fan of stall, but at least when it was still viable it forced people to think a little harder about their teams and what moves to use…

idk the point of coming in on outrages when fairies are in the mix. although most fairies suck, there is gardevoir i guess, and azumarill

thoughts on:
shadow tag chandelure?
shadow tag goth?

and lol breloom, on pokemon showdown i had a rain team and got frustrated at breloom so i made a tornadus set that was sleeptalk/hurricane.
switch into the spore, sleep talk.
great times.

shadow tag chandelure is no more, it gets infiltrator instead

shadow tag is the only reason gotithelle is viable

i played a lot of gen iv OU, everything seemed viable, it was awesome

and then platinum came and fucked everything up…seriously, fuck platinum

Scizor doesn’t gain any weaknesses, but he loses two resistances and gains a fairy resistance, so he’s relatively unaffected in comparison.

Scizor can do both and has more power, and I don’t remember a whole lot of dragons not carrying EQ, Fire Punch or a random dark move(Hydreigon).

Anyway, Outrage is going to drop in use because choice-rage is nonviable due to fairies, and being locked into a move for a more damage(and not much more damage because choice-rage sucks now) is not good/worth it.

I didn’t mean that Metagross is totally useless, but he got super shafted this time around. I’d have to say that this nerf was intended to shaft Jiraichi but had some unintended casualties like Bronzong and Metagross.

that’s unfortunate. although probably would be too strong

scizor can’t get superpower until the bank is out do i just replace with brick break or is there soemthing better?
