It’s cooled down just an ass hair but the humidity is just as shit as it was last week, regardless got my rear axle installed. Was a bit worried about maybe parts coming off such as ball bearings inside the wheel but I remember its a sealed style. Though I notice the new axle when I tighten the locknut, the chain also tightens significantly more than the original axle, so I had to go below spec on the slack of the chain from the chain tensioners to get it within spec when I start tightening the lock nut. Anyway, with new tires installed, I’m finally ready for my first track day of this season

No more Hondas. Rivalry in the driveway

You own both? Pretty sweet to have 2 awd rally inspired machines. Which one you like more?

From last Sunday

I DID own both. I liked the Subaru more for 2 reasons, it sounded better, and getting into boost with the upgraded turbo still wouldnt have been as expensive as the Evo if something went down.

However, it’s gone just that quick. Full coverage on both of those beasts completely insane…with no tickets. Just because AWD turbo.

So the other day, I think day after I posted, I did 2 trades receiving cash on top of each.

Traded the WRX for this+cash

Had it long enough to get the title transferred and had this lined up.

Then traded the S2000 for this + more cash (I removed those decals immediately)

It was a busy day. Probably keeping that car. Also with my second car not being something that also has great potential, like those S2000’s or WRX, that means I focus on the Evo with no sidetracking wanting to get the other car faster. This is a FWD Honda, a joke when it comes to ultimate speed.

At the end of the year I plan to buy a used FRS/86. Thinking of dropping like 25K cash. Im not sure if it’s a smart idea since my drive to work is like 2 minutes and dont drive long distances. It just looks cool. If Trump wins the election ill take that as a sign to buy.

Bought my sister a 2009 lancer ES for work. Cost me 8K cash.

The FT-86 is a good commuter car. For fun, it’s a good fling. Performance wise, it’s an incomplete car.

I would change the tranny and diff oil right away if I were you.

You must be from Cali, or something, because a brand new FRS starts at 25K, not seeing how a used one would be that much, unless its a loaded 2016 Release 2.0 with a few thousand miles like under 5K.

Also a 2009 Lancer would typically run half what you paid here too. Any Mitsu not called an Evo has shit for resale

Edit:

The Chicago convo above, I took my original S2000 to Chicago a few weeks ago, first time in Chitown and I saw ZERO cars WITHOUT some kind of scrapes or rubs. Didnt matter how new it was. I mean a guy had like this belt that just went around the whole car to prevent it. It seemed like anywhere I went there was not enough parking, and people were trying to park on top of cars.

Fuck that noise.

Last time I checked, the FT86 depreciates a looooot over three years.

I could just Google it, but for conversation sake; is it possible to do an motor swap with an an sti motor? Anything is possible, just curious if it would fit without having to do anything with modifying the bay/firewall/etc

So I googled my question and at least from 4 years ago, people were saying its a pain in the ass to do a sti swap, and the tranny on the FRS would have to be swapped or modified. Also read that someone was doing a 2jz swap

in what? a FR-S/BRZ? Or some other japanese car?

Wrong thread

Yep, FRS/brz.

Another double post but anyone remember video option videos? I think I found a couple for bikes:

There’s a hashirya more street series one that only parts of it got put on YouTube but maybe someday someone will put the full videos up.

I don’t think it would be worth it. those engines are bigger and the FRs areleady seems like its beyond cramped. It seems the most popular mod is throwing a blower on those things but i know emmissions would limit you to probably only a 30-50 HP gain and less torque due. Your second post reaffirm my concerns with the rest of the powertrain. Toyota wasn’t going to give you a robust powertrain because they are cheap as fuck, and stock axles break already under stock power.

If somebody wants a FRS, for everyday street driving there are way better and faster options from the get go in the used market…
If you want new, cough cough hyundai cough cough

I’d respect an FRS build if they took it to this logical conclusion

that LSX still weighs less than a 2jz

It’s not worth it to put the STi engine in the FT86. With a small supercharger, you should able to put on a solid 100 whp. Superchargers seem to do much better than turbochargers. If you put a good header by someone like ACE, that’s goos too.

HKS superchargers seem good. Jackson Racing if I remember the name right are good too.

You’ll need an oil cooler and run 0w-40 oil and wider and stickier tires. Also don’t run the track with the stock brakes. At least replace the lines with stainless steel and put a brake fluid that won’t boil.

The FT86 is a fun car.

Yeah that reminded me of a video I saw on this guys growing hatred on the FRS, saying that the car could of had the potential on being a solid platform to build on but only if Toyota/Subaru didn’t cheapen the quality of the car. I still dig it, and have seen some great looking builds on the streets, but I wonder how much of a head ache it was for these owners to get their car to where they are. One guy was saying on one build with a Lexus motor, they had to completely clean out the engine bay besides maybe a couple accessory components just to get a rough idea if it was possible, and then had to modify the shit out of the bay to get it to fit.

I don’t think it’s cheap. I’m not sure why they’re saying that. It could that the engineers decreased the load capacity to make it more efficient. The more lightweight you make it, the less it will eat abuse.
