Haven’t posted here in a while, but just realized how many great cars I’ve been seeing in the past week here in chicago.
Here is what I saw:
2 Ferrari 458 Italia
McLaren MP4 - 12c
Alpina B7
Brabus G63
Lamborghini Aventador and Huracan
Maserati Ghibli and Gran Turismo
Ferrari F12
I have been really on super cars lately and would love to own a McLaren 12c. Anyways I think my next car is gonna be an STI. The winters here run long and I want something I can have fun in while trudging through the snow.
I think my next bike will be a 2 stroke, NSR. I have a potential buyer checking out the sv tomorrow, and then once I get my next job rolling, I’ll be living frugal, working over time and saving up. If you can luckily find one being posted for sale, they are normally close to 12 grand or more, but there’s a reason why, besides being rare, they are damn good bikes and people who are in the know, knows what’s up. Also, for a while, parts were hard to come by, but this company called Tyga has been producing more and more stuff to keep these bikes running in tip top condition. Having 2 rare bikes(my current street/lite track duty bike is #6 of 15imgur.com/zAOxRPN) would have some people say it’s not a good buying decision, but I say who fucking cares, we will all eventually die some day and why not experience what you want and enjoy it, no matter if it hinders/ruins the value, and might risk destroying it having one less rare machine.
Anyway, winter is coming, going to swap out the rear tires on my truck with the winter ones, and a buddy is giving me some sand bags to weigh it down. Not sure if I should use it as a main daily in the winter as the truck is over 20 years old and kind of struggles on the road as is.
I’m thinking of slapping this sticker onto my rear windshield. What do you guys think?
I just wished it would stick on from the insider, meaning that I could put it on from the cabin, and not stick it on from the exterior of the car. It’s a very sticky situation.
Never getting rid of the S2000. Also have a little Civic I havent posted, it’s been a work in progress, been undoing a bunch of bullshit by previous owner.
On vacation in Tokyo and I just found out about the Tokyo Motor Show. NSX and Mazda RX concepts… So sick. Ford wasn’t there though lmao. Not exactly surprised but I wanted to check out the Focus RS.
I was supposed to replace the cv axle in my car. Simple 1.5 hour job
Rusted and cimometly sized in there. I bent the thread of a rented impact slide hammer with the force I was applying.
Bought a crowbar, was moving the engine more than anything. Shit wouldn’t budge still.
Idk anymore. Gonna wrap up the axle in a bag, seal it, and let it soak in liquid wrench for half a day. Should get me going. If not, gonna have to have somebody do it.
Eh, America is kinda playing catch up in all honesty. Compared to what the Europeans have been doing with their cars, America still has a lot of work to do.
With that said. America gives you way more bang for your buck. The imple fact that you can get vettes and vipers that can beat Porches and Ferraris for so cheap is amazing to me. I still wouldn’t mind owning a C5 Z06 though.
Idk America has long since “caught” up with Europe ever since theid 2000’s in performance values. Ferrari hasn’t made anything of real performance value since the F40. And the Bette and viper have been competitive or outright better than Porsche’s flag ship car, for less. The fact that the ACR is a whole second faster than the 918, 2 seconds faster than the P1 at tracks is a testament to how finely tuned these machines are. Now, and how much Europe needs to respond by making a real performance circuit vehicle.
Aren’t the 918 and P1 hybrids? I dig what you mean. Like with Mercs and the Black Series. They made a monster, but its impossible to drive effectively on an actual circuit. Its like there is this whole “European Muscle” thin going on now. The F12 is a good example of this.
They aren’t. They are performance cars that replace the turbo that they usually put in other cars, and replace them with electrical turbo/superchargers. But it happens that these electrical superchargers can also run the car. Iirc there’s a BMW that some cali speed shop stripped and made a full race car with it, but replaced the engine and drivetrain to support an electric motor.
They (ferrari, McLaren, Porsche) don’t work like the volt or prius which are the only true hybrid cars in the market. Those electric motors are supplemental power plants that make more power line a turbo/supercharger, but at a more efficient rate. Which electric motors are sometimes twice as efficient.
European “HyperCars” have always been "muscle cars. Zonda, McLaren F1, noble, kosonisegg, everything after f40 from Ferrari, and everything Lamborghini have ever made where straight line monsters.
Bmw hasn’t been about circuit performce since the early 2000 when they started getting really fat really fat. If you look at a m3 from the last two generations, the packages didn’t do much for actual circuit performance. They cut some weight, but didn’t include more aggressive springs (just dampening, which is less than half the battle) no polyutherane bushings, or real aero package. It’s been more aggressive body panels and a hopped up engine. But no real track performance.
Mercedes hasn’t really made a circuit car since the 90’s with that cool c class of theirs. The black series cars have just more aggressive brakes, more aggressive engine and transmission, with some weight reduction, but nothing’s comparable to the ACR, but closer to scale like GT3 and z06.
But still lack the structural reinforcements, cooling solutions, and real aero packages those 2 have.
