SRK Car Thread (Show it off or ask questions)

That’s not as popular. But the kicker is that real low rider stuff is a really expensive hobby. Thats why abkot of folks don’t do it. You also can’t cheat that scene because you can’t skimp on a hydraulic system, unlike the stance scene. It’s done with absokutly no shortcuts, and any short cut would lead to some gnarly accidents…

Ive seen so many dudes skimp on springs or coil overs, just to get the stance look for cheap. Completely disregard physics, handling, ride safety, and don’t care the exponential damage done to suspension and tires.

Meanwhile all the actual low rider dudes do not skimp on anything. Everything is done right. plus it doesn’t really doesn’t take away from function of the cars they use. Aow rider takes the concept of American cruising into overdrive. Low and slow. Vs stance scene which makes cars undrivable in normal roads due to it being slammed, stretched wheels at a chambered able reducing grip yet they dump money into the engine but can’t use it because fuck grip. I have way more respect for low riders than I do the stance scene. But I don’t like it just as much.

I used to be into lowriders pretty heavy. The first car show I ever went to was a low rider show. Funny enough, my day and grandpa were huge into muscle cars, so I had never seen something like this before. Impalas bouncing up and down and stuff. It was really cool to see, but after a while I was back into muscle and tuners. I was so used to JEGS coming to the house as a kid, because my dad stayed ordering parts and what not (way before the internet, lol).

What I find funny now is what people charge for their shitty cars. You have people here selling CRX si and EP3 civics for 8k. But if you look for a 2000 Celica Gts or a 5th Gen Prelude, you can find them in great condition and stock for 2-3k.

You guys also suffer from that ricer tax to.

Yeah its pretty nuts man. If I ever wanted to buy a project car here it would probably be an American car. Can find tons of old camaros and Mustangs for dirt cheap.

Stance shit is ridiculous. Back when that shit first started with Hondas, dudes were trading stanced stock Civics for like WRX’s SRT4 ect, basically huge upgrades, just because the car was stanced. Until stance people started figuring out other platforms.

While you probably cant trade a stanced out Civic for a nice WRX anymore, (Since the Subaru guys have stance parts now) people still make dumb trades for stance. A dude can get a hold of legit wheels in a normal size lets say a guy has 15x7+40 Work RSZ-R with 205 50 tires, that nigga will turn around BEGGING to trade for some 15x9+0 XXR’s with 155/35 stretched unsafe ass tires.

Funniest thing is that stance started with VW’s but didn’t move until people with Hondas copied, and nobody could trade up stanced VW’s for upgrades. I guess you already have to be a VW guy to want/like them.

Been a hell of a day yesterday picking up my bike, bit of more than I could chew when I had an altercation with a road rager, fucker had like 150lbs on me and probably does mma/boxing or some shit. Got rocked at a gas station, if this would have been 7 years ago, things would of probably ended a bit differently. But ended my day picking up my track toy:

Lesson learn, I’m too old to get into it with some random asshole and it’s not worth it most of the time.

the k24 is the greatest NA i4 engine ever made. Only engine that’s better than the k24 is the SRT4 engine.

I know I talked how I thought the Honda NM4 bike was cool… But I have recently fallen in love with cafe racers… Cheap, practical, fun, and kind of unique. Most importantly people build/rat rod them constantly. I think when I get back from vacation I’m gonna purchase one.

As much as I give shit about cafe bikes that are usually rode by hipsters, the are cool machinery regardless. If I ever get a project going, I’d do a “modern cafe” 2 stroke sport bike:

Then again, I guess it wouldn’t be technically coined “cafe” and more so “street fighter”

Yeah, that’s part of the issue I have is that they’re hipster as hell. The reality is I just want something to ride on, get better, and maybe modify it later. I’ve checked across the internet and most people talk down to the idea of wanting a cafe racer or they’re super elitist on the subject and pretend you’re too retarded to even begin to modify a bike. It’s not that freaking hard. I can do a search on youtube and I get tons of videos that can help if I ever get stuck. Going over these bikes when it’s single or two stroke isn’t an issue. I could probably build one up front. I just don’t want to kill myself on screwing up because I don’t have a reference point.

From the time I spent learning about bikes, I gotta say the majority of the community is just like the car community. They pay someone else to do their work because they’re too lazy to do it themselves and don’t think anyone else can do the work. I get that there are bikes that are complicated, but it seems like these people don’t even ride their bikes. They just paid someone to do the work and just bring it out to brag about.

LOL I just had a discussion with a buddy about the lack of personal involvement on their cars. Fortunately most of the people I’m affiliated with do their own work most of the time. Yeah there are some that have never gotten their hands dirty or have no clue on the simplest of maintenance that’s in the owner’s manual. LOL my buddy said when ever someone has a new part installed they would take a picture right about when they are finishing up, but usually it’s someone else’ hands/arms that is wrenching on the part!

There are some things I won’t bother doing, because I lack of the tools to do it and would rather have a reputable shop take care of it, but for the most part, like you said, most of the information on how to do shit is a google result. If you can follow directions, you can pretty much take care of your shit.

Someone slap some sense into this mofo

This guy should have known had he driven it long enough it would have caught on fire by itself…

He’s probably the type that holds up people at the nurburgring

or for the notoriety. Ah to be ridiculously rich and complaining that the current supercars you own doesn’t please you… FFS

Love this shit:

80’s bikes, 80’s metal, 80’s attitude, even the scooters weren’t lame.

I guess I’ll bump it up with pictures of my bikes:

So the track bike is different from my street bike. Obviously no head/tail/turning/brake lights, mirrors, or kick stand. It also doesn’t have a working fuel indicator or gauge, and the tires that came on it are race specs, a rear slick and front with very little tread. I took it out for the first time on Saturday at a track day, and it rode good with the exception of the tires. Yeah once they heated up, they stuck to the tarmac like glue. Also it was the first time I actually dragged both my knees, the last time I did that was 3 years ago, and it was just a sudden touch down contact on one knee puck, since then I had yet to do it from several track days, but it was all due to my leather pants that constricted my articulation/range of motion of my legs because when I broke in my new race suit, that actually allowed me to not feel like I was wearing a surran wrap lower body cast, I immediately dragged my knees like I’ve been doing it my entire time on a bike. It felt amazing:

But that didn’t last long, the second session in, I tried warming up the tires on the first lap, but at the last turn, which was the last big one, I gave the bike a little more throttle than the other turns, and WOOSH goes the rear tire, slides out and I go sliding behind my bike. The damage wasn’t too bad: snapped clutch lever, bent shifter arm, bent support plate of foot peg, a small fracture on the race bodywork along with rash in a few places, and grounded foot peg and handle bar end. Not too bad from a 55mph slide! I was more bummed out that my new race suit that I barely got broken in, now has some scuffs on the arm, hip, and shoulder. But that’s what it’s made for, as it would suck 1000x more if it was my bare body that took the damage, and I’m just a little sore the day after.

Today I got a lever replaced, that was in a box of spares that came with the bike, and a buddy that I pit with, his dad was able to bend back all the parts that were bent with a torch and hammer. I’m also going to swap out the rear tire for a semi race one that has a wider carcass and isn’t a fucking slick that requires either a damn tire warmer or a solid lap or two to get it to become grippy. I will still need to warm up the tires, but it’s not something that if I give it a little gas, there will be no grip at all, like I’m riding on ice. I’m taking the bike back out next Saturday and maybe even Sunday as this is the last weekend of the season for the track organization that I’m with. I’ll post up some track pics when that time comes as I doubt/hope I don’t have another repeat from Saturday!

Well, after yesterday I’m already thinking of selling/trading the track bike. I posted a long ass rant about my developing hatred towards it on reddit but I’ll save everyone the hassle of reading it. It’s just so fucking awkward and when we were doing hot laps and getting timed, I’m pretty sure I was the slowest one out of the group as this guy, who is kind of a noob, that raced with me had almost caught up to me and if we had more laps to get timed, I’m sure he would eventually lap me. This bike is doodoo, I always thought the SV’s where old man wannabe sport bikes, and after yesterday, I’m even more convinced. It’s also true and sad that people were commenting after the day was over, that I’m a lot faster and smoother on my street bike than I am on this diarrhea splash back machine. Also the guy that sold it to me, I think he now hates me because I mention all my issues with the bike and he just goes off and tries to school me on some shit that I think it’s completely debatable and he’s just riding on his “I’m the fastest rider out here and everyone respects my control-rider authority” attitude. Ok buddy, you are fast, but it doesn’t dismiss the lameness of this POS that I’ve been experiencing, also dude is now on a legitimate sport bike so I question his motives behind this shit box on 2 wheels.

Got my Gopro sorted, I just need to cut down the run time significantly to clips and not entire sessions. This may be a problem if I start bringing it out to the track for 20 minute sessions. Here’s a clip of a wheelie gfycat.com/HandmadeFewHedgehog I’m no wheelie pro by any stretch, but it’s like my wang: short, doesn’t last long, but it gets the job done!

lmao bros try to drag race undercover cop

Anybody know some cool bikes? Saw an old school Suzuki GSXR in some dudes front lawn and it looked pretty sick. Old bikes are sort of a thing that I wouldn’t my owning eventually if I had spare cash.
