Well guys, here is my work horse to haul my bikes:
93’ Toyota T100, one owner, and 12X,XXX miles. The rear wheels are steel wheels with winter tires and the ones that matches the front are in the bed, the owner is going to try to find the lug nuts but if not, I’ll just find some. Great truck, really good condition for what it is and where it’s been all of it’s life(the midwest aka saltwest) I did my best to go through the truck, mostly everything mechanically wise is sound, just some minor things here and there. The topper needs to go and I have to figure out how to get some tie down straps secured in the bed as there are no durable areas to hook to. I love how long the bed is, more than enough room to fit a bike or 2, canopy, and other stuff. Tomorrow going to check out a Kawasaki Ninja 250r that’s been in club racing and hopefully get it for around the same price!
honestly man I’ve been considering buying a bike just for the warmer months here in Chicago. Also would help get through traffic better. Don’t want anything crazy fast though.
For commuting I’ll throw out some names: sv650, cbr500, Ninja 300r/250r/500. Great bikes to get around town and then some. All of them can at least keep up or out accelerate a stock subcompact sports car. Pretty inexpensive too in the used market and insurance. I have a buddy that moved away from Chicago and was in the car scene there, says the Minnesota scene is shit compared to what Chicago has to offer, showed me some pics, you guys got some really good looking rides!
Yeah man cars here (and to some degree bikes) are ridiculous. I’ve seen Alpinas, Brabus, several Lambos. I actually work across the street from the Mazerati, Lamborghini service center. So I get to see and hear a lot of beautiful cars go in and out of there. yeah Chicago has a great scene, I actually have found a couple of people in the scene who showed me some amazing rides. Also driving up and down lakeshore drive during the nigh/early morning is amazing.
Just moved to Austin, might see an F1 race down here but prices are pretty expensive if I’m going by myself to check it out. I’m not very knowledgeable in racing or even cars for that matter. Worth checking out? It should be very exciting in-person right?
Also, found a Ferrari dealer in some random part of town 5-10 minutes from my apartment. Not even next to the expensive homes/apartments oddly enough.
@BBQ Do you ride bikes mostly as a hobby or mostly as your primary transportation? My friend wants only a motorcycle with no car but I was trying to convince him otherwise. Might get a bike as well if I stay here in Austin for a few years, things are much closer together here than Dallas
More so a hobby, though sometimes I’ll commute on mine in the season. The only drawback to only owning a bike where you are at is the lack of cargo space, you either have to carry a back pack or have panniers, and even then you are limited on space. Also shit weather is no fun on a bike, even if it’s raining, but I suppose having rain gear would help considerably. There’s a guy that used to post on here that lives in Texas as well, and has only had bikes for his main transportation for years now.
I do like looking at motorbikes but I think you have to have some degree of insanity to drive one, just don’t trust fools on the road.
Friend of mine thinks his wife is going through a midlife crisis, she wants to get a bike, she’s gonna do the pratical tests and advanced test and immediately go out and buy a superbike!
Another friend of mine who has been riding for a few years recently purchased this beauty, I think he has also shipped to Dubai a couple of times to ride it there.
His is the one on the end in the first pic and in the middle on the second
Random pic from the Distinguished Gentleman’s Rally he attended
Yes sir, considering it’s got the same motor that’s in a Hayabusa minus the fairings and tuned differently. It’s also called a “muscle bike.” I test rode a Hayabusa a few weeks ago and the first 3 gears all pulled as hard as each other, I didn’t try it, but I could probably wheelie the thing in 3rd gear, even in it’s stock form. I could only imagine what the Bking would be capable of as usually nakeds are tuned for less top end speed and more bottom end grunt, which means more torque from the get go.
@“The Furious One” i won’t get all philosophical on why I ride, because I think I am a bit crazy myself, but there are other places where people go to enjoy their bikes that decreases the risks from others such as back roads/track days/etc. You’ll either love it or just think it’s another form of transportation and or a dangerous one at that, and it’s basically the reason why people take chances and ride on the street unless you are in India or some country that the main transportation is 2 wheels. Next season I plan on riding less on the street and doing more track time because I enjoy the sport of sportbikes and the best environment to do it is at a track and not some sketchy back road. Nice pictures, while I’m not a fan of Harley Davidsons, I dig the cafe racer stuff, but it seems like the hipsters have infiltrated that style, which isn’t a bad thing as it helps the industry. They look cool, though slow as shit LOL.
Does anyone else ever go on sites like BMW, Ferrari, etc and mess with the build your own feature? I’ve been doing that a lot lately to pass the time at work.
I feel you. I never did until recently. I mean, I’ll probably never buy a Ferrari or Lambo unless I am very, very fortunate. But it most definitely interesting to see the options and what not. I actually got to sit in a Aventador not too long ago. Lamborghini of Chicago is like a few blocks from the mall so I just walked in and sat in one. Honestly words don’t describe what its like, but that car is a work of art, lol.
I did in the past, usually it’s mostly all cosmetic/interior changes but nothing too drastic except the accumulated pricing! IIRC I was looking at Honda’s, and the full mugen set up with some other stuff was tacking on damn near 15 grand!
And granted, it will all be still covered under factory/extended warranties, but I don’t know, some of the other options for aftermarket parts can look so much better than some of the bland options from the dealer. Though having choices beside what’s on the showroom floor is nice.
