Improvise.

That’s how it was with me when I couldn’t get that small cup off the factory shifter and onto the short shifter of my tC. Kinda just jabbed it against the ground lightly and it slid on.

IMO vice grips are HELLA useful.

Kinda late but I have an 05 cooper convertible and while it IS fun, it’s kinda expensive in terms of maintenance. Premium fuel is recommended and synthetic oil is required. Things are great as long as the 4yr/50K mile warranty are in effect, because everything is free. Once that shit expires, BMW dealerships charge a lot to fix shit so you’ll want to find a shop that specializes in minis.

Some stuff I had fixed under warranty:
[]fluid leaking from a motor mount
[
]sprung a leak somewhere in the coolant system. Engine overheat light came on and left me stranded, but they sent a flatbed and gave me a rental car for the day.
[]top rubs on itself/the body when moving so that it’s slowly wearing a hole
[
]the top just stopped working randomly once (probably my fault for driving with it partially open on the freeway)
[]amplifier for the stereo blew out. [BTW: I got the premium, Harmon Kardon system and it’s pretty good imo]
[
]transmission made some funny noises, I don’t remember what the exact problem was but it had to be removed/rebuilt/serious work was done on it. I was given the option to have the clutch replaced since they were already so deep in there, but it was less than 50% worn at that point and it didn’t seem worth it.
I’m sure there’s more, but I can’t remember…

About 2-3 months after the warranty expired, my power steering motor failed. With labor I was quoted like 1200 bucks to replace it. The guy at my local shop told me that it should have been recalled, it was a common problem and newer models got a redesign that included a fan to prevent it from overheating. But I haven’t been able to get it fixed since then, I’ve been driving it without power steering for nearly a year now. It’s not too bad, it actually makes it feel MORE like a go-kart and the feedback from the wheels is great, but parallel parking is kind of a bitch.

I mean maybe I’m just a cheapskate, the maintenance is in line with standard BMW prices and it IS a luxury brand.

edit: oh yea, the back seats in the hardtop are fit for children and very small adults. The back seats in my convertible are fit for people without legs.

Damn, that’s not bad at all. How many miles?

^ 01’, Quattro. 80,3xx miles.

pretty modded.

I need help making a decision. A coworker offered to sell me a 2000/2001 Mitsubishi Galant for 1500. The fact that it has about 200,000 miles on it makes me nervous. I was told that those miles are from frequent trips from Phoenix to California, and that other than that the car has almost no problems. She said the heater doesnt work but the A/C is fine. And in Arizona, when am i going to use the heater, I thought.

But its been bothering me because this is my first car purchase. Can a car with that many miles really last, even if they are mostly highway miles? Are Mitsubishi’s reliable enough to keep going after 200k miles?

my 94 acura integra ls with a 2000 front end conversion
motor is bone stock… planning boost till it blows up then get me a gsr all motor…or b16 with an Ls crank.

oh yeah short shifter is easy to install…
i love my shortshifter u can “feel” it click in once it in gear soo cool.

ebonymage: its not really about the miles on the car its about how well the car is maintained. ask the owner for any reciepts or an kind of logs on maintenance.
you will be using the heater when its cold and your windows fog up…

My shit - Not a D like Rcaidos tho… not sure if its the same year as his either… 2008 for me, and I love it.

I guess the 335’s get hate cuz they have a Twin Turbo Engine that you can mod and get 450hps / 450ftlbs out of it with very little risk, which is very close to the 08 M3 V8 numbers. Of course you could probably mod an M3 also and get more juice out of it.

I keep thinking of chipping it, but that voids the warranty so I think im going to wait until the warranty is out. I could go Dinan stage 2, which would chip it and Dinan would cover the warranty, but thats like 2000$+, so kinda steep. Whatever, for now, im happy

let me guess on the wheels… slipstreams :shy:

raugh out roud

but i have some. until i put my prelude away for full build and rhd after summer.

^ hella jdm. lol.

polished slipstreams are $$ though

anyone won a Sentra B13 or B14 SE-R?

Hey guys i was looking to pick up a Nissan 240sx in the near future. One from the 1995-98 models. I’m not a car guy at all and i wouldn’t race with it. Something about it, I just like that car. Anyone have any pros or cons about it? Maybe a price range for a decent one.

Here is my 86 mustang and my 85 300zx turbo. Both are modded, the stang runs 11.80’s in the 1/4 mile, the 300zx not that quick :crybaby:The 300 does have a 67 pound walled off prototype subwoofer though :wow: I also own a slammed woodgrain wagon on 13 inch 144 spokes, but I’m embarrassed to show it

I demand to see a woody on daytons.

needs a paintjob and tint, but not bad for a $200 car and $50 wheels

Figrued I’d show a pic of a fall/winter project on the Vette: rear suspension refresh.

By comparison the front suspension is pretty straight forward to redo. It’s not so bad once you’ve been staring at diagrams. Keep hating on leafsprings, haters.:smokin:

Nice project.

What does an AE86 go for on the trade market?

My Girl’s cousin has one that’s stock and still new.
He has no clue what the cost for it really is so he is selling it too me for 14 hundred.
I’m getting a great deal out of it lol
