Okay bet. I have found a couple, but trying to find one unmolested and a stick is rough. Some guy tried to trade me his Eclipse for my Bimmer on Mautofied. I have heard too many horror stories about Eclipses so I passed him up. So far I have been offered a truck, accord, eclipse and old ass golf.
You might need to renew the ad. I was looking for it to see the trades. Renewing places it back as active, you dont have to redo anything. The question is, is your Prelude purchase now separate from trading that BMW?
No need. I just sold the Bimmer for 1200 (100 more than I bought it) so now I am just in the hunt for a Prelude (4th or 5th gen), Integra (dc or da), Civic (eg or ek. pref 96-99), Jetta or Golf (99-04).
I was on there last night and I noticed you have your 5th gen up as well. Ready to get rid of it?
Nah, itās testing waters. I think if I was REALLY ready to get rid of it, I have taken some of those trades, I have been offered tons of shit that I āshouldā trade for. And a couple more S2000ās and other stuff not on site. I get random people calling me that dont have stuff listed online, but send pics, ect. I almost grabbed this RSX-S but the interior was tan (no thanks) and this S2000, but it was yellowā¦again no thanks. This one guy on Mautofied alone has offered a WRX and a TSX at various points in time, just dont feel like driving LOL.
MKIV Golf and MKIV Jetta. If you think that BMW was a nightmare, the MKIVās will make it look like a dream. German engineering Mexican construction. Yes, built in Mexico. But they, especially the Jetta look fucking magnificent, and the blue gaugesā¦sexy. But unfortunately, they fall apart around the drivetrain. I mean, you dont hear of them breaking down mechanically, especially the 1.8tās, but the rest of the carās electrical/chassis gremlins are pretty numerous.
Also Frankie, who used to go to Derricks/arcade, has a Golf IVā¦if you know/remember him, ask him about how wonderful ownership has been. I could also point out another guy from way back that had a Jetta IVā¦ And of course if you want any semblance of fun, do not get a 2.0. Itās 1.8t or VR6 all day every day.
Iām just tryin to look out for you; I would have advised against that BMW for all costs, and I would have been right. Also you should be more concerned about engine/model. Getting the base engine in most of these cars, will not provide fun, for instance; all the 3 Series is known for, you would not have felt taking that 318 out for sport driving. The only cars that still maintain a semblance of fun while being underpowered stock are the Miata, and apparently which ever of the FR-S/BR-Z twins is tuned harder(cant remember). 90ās Civicās are pretty good with a SOHC VTEC as well, they are light and nimble enough to still provide fun at that power level.
Lastly the 4th gen Prelude. It comes in 3 trims, S, Si, and VTEC. Obviously VTEC is the best with the DOHC VTEC H22A1, but that is rare as fuck. The Si is DOHC non-VTEC H23A1, should be okay power wise, the Prelude S - has a SOHC non-VTEC F22A6, same joint as a base Accordā¦not going to be fun. Itās going to be cheap as fuck though. But many base models or Siās have been swapped with the H22 anyway. I think the Electroluminescent (EL) gauges are only for VTECās in 93, and standard in later years(?) Either way, people that like 4G Ludes make a big deal about having the EL gauges so I thought Iād include that. Look it up if you go that route.
Thanks man, I really appreciate the advice. I have realized the pain of German engineering, they are great if you have the moneyā¦ I remember Frankie, I didnāt know he owned a Golf though (last I heard is that Derrick got an RX-8) but I am glad you hip me to game. I have the best knowledge about Hondaās anyway (looking at a Civic, Prelude or Integra). Though for a while i wanted an s13/14, fining one that isnāt beat to shit is extremely rare.
Well just to be sure, Derrick whose house that game night used be at, doesnt drive. The Darrik who has the RX-8, is the guy you saw in the blue EG hatch. His RX-8 had been down awhile blown up. Heās also from the old FG scene.
Anyway just shoot whatever car you look at my way.
Well here are a couple I am considering. Lemme know what you think.

Iām looking at the motor of the Integra, correct me if Iām wrong, but it looks like there is rust on the manifold where itās mounted?
Iām also considering this one as well (though I am not a fan of the tan interior, I already see the potential).

Cant see the second ad in the first post.
Green Teg wouldnt be a bad buy at 12-1400. Considering it needs a hood at least. Bodywork shouldnt be too bad on it in the future, but check the rest of the rust. Tan interior can be swapped out as well. Doesnt seem to ever have seen ricer hands.
Itāll already have many things that youād find yourself adding a Civic; a B series, and rear discs.
Thanks man, that is what I was thinking as well about the Integra. the other post was a 99 ex. But it was void of rust.

But I am leaning towards the Integra anyway, I just hope he hits me back.
Okay peeps, just bought my first Honda. It was in pretty good shape (no rust or anything). It had a fart can on it, but I will be removing that quite soon. Its a nice 1999 ej and its black so i am quite pleased with the find. I got it for 1900 and am probably going to put a reasonable about into making it more presentable.

okay so I have a small update with the EK/EJ build. Shout out to FMABB for all the Honda insight, dude knows his stuff when it comes to cars. I think Honda may be my favorite company after experiencing the enjoyment from working on the civic.
Anyways, the previous owner was really big on trying to rice it up, so I am trying to reverse that and hook it up properly. The interior was pretty bad and he did a crappy job at painting the vents and what not, so now I am working on reversing all that.
I spent a good couple hours at the pull n pay to get some parts for the whip.
This is how the interior looked when I got it:

And here is how it looks after I spent a day working on it:

Next up, I plan on getting rid of that obnoxious ass Tach (the damn thing doesnāt even work) and getting some black floor mats to give it a cleaner look. After that I will start looking at what will be needed for the upcoming warm months.
Anyway here are a couple pics of the whip with a DA Integra and an AE86 (nothing fancy).
So I had to get an alignment check on the ride cause I had some knock in the ride, so I took it down to Firestone as I got that lifetime alignment. These dudes trying to rape a dudeās wallet LOL. I love my Dodge Charger, but the front end is known for having issues. So, basically in a nutshell they were saying my front end was shot. Here was the damage:
Part - Part Cost - Labor Cost for install
Right Outer Tie Rod - 104 - 107
Left Lower Control Arm - 164 - 184
Right Lower Control Arm - 164 - 184
Engine Mount - 113 - 145
Grand Total of 1165.
They are honest cause I checked and those were right. My bushings for the tension strut/ control arm were worn and the tie rod was out. However, how the deuce is a tie rod 104 dollars and 107 to put it in. I have done a tie rod personally on that car ( the other side mind you). So I marched down to AutoZone after getting my car, picked one up for 28.99 and installed it. Took the car right back to them, and realigned the car. I am ordering the other parts soon. I am looking to potentially stiffen things up in that area. I am doing all the work on my own, so I will probably come out of pocket about $400 and a Saturday gone. What pissed me off even more that my neighbor was replacing a tie rod end on his Neon (converted it into an SRT4). How bout we see the Firestone guys walking to AutoZone to pick up parts LOL.
Where do you guys go to get all this work done? Do yāall have your own garages or do you guys have a shop that will let you work on your car?
Most things I do on my own in my garage. If you have a garage that helps āshelterā your work. I just bought tools as they became needed for a job. I just acquired a 20 gallon air compressor. SHITāS GONNA GET REAL NOW!
Yeah, Iād like to get a project car going but I donāt own a house so boo hoo me =(
I live in an apartment complex, but I am still working on a project car. Basically it works for me because I have a reserve parking spot in a gated parking lot. Plus my spot is in the very end corner of the entire lot, so basically I have room to work on stuff as need be. Also its good to find friends who may have the space and can help you with the process. In my case I am doing everything alone and it can be a hassle. good luck though. What kind of car would you want to be a project?
