Yeah man, I’ve been on the midnight blue for ages, I think that with a carbon fiber hood and some shoes like these would really give the car some pop. I am currently researching what type of seats I want. Finding black leather oem seats in good condition is tough (and expensive) so i am considering racing seats, still unsure thou. I may just hit up a local junk yard (I wonder if cincy has a foreign junk yard) and see what I can get.
I feel you on the Evo my dude, and that transformation is off the chain! I know its obvious that my faovrite car is the M3 (E92 specifically) but there are a couple of other whips that I wish I could own.
I have a weak spot for V.I.P. style cars. Toyota Altezza is one of many cars I’d VIP the shit out of. Though I would never do any ridiculous camber or anything that would make the car drive like shit. ATM, I’m going to dip my wheels on my 12’ Si and eventually night shade the tail lights to a smoke but not blacked, look. Coil overs is a thought for next year but I may get rid of the Si for a older G35. I did an oil change on one a while back and had a boner the entire time doing it, Infinity did these cars right.
I aint really trying to get anything specifically, but I let them offer. If an Evo comes up, I’ll probably take it, an see if there’s any VI’s imported, and trade it for one. But I would probably have to turbo my car for an Evo to offer, which I am not doing. I am not losing AC like some hatchback Civic wanna save weight by removing comforts ass ricer.
Honestly, I would take an Evo, just because of KBB. That WRX would be worth it if the chassis wasn’t over 200K. If he had an STi motor with the 45k he claims I would probably do it anyway. But without red intake manifolds, and STi innercooler, thats a standard WRX motor that has 200K on it as far as I see. No thanks.
People have offered higher KBB cars, but basically ones I dont like. And then you got deals that just dont go through. Guy offered me an S2000 on Honda-Tech last week then just stopped responding. You know? Okay, you offered it to me, whatever. It doesnt really matter to me. get it done, get a feature in hondatuning, and sell for $30K like everyone else. LOL.
I dig that my man, I know my wife gave me the Okay to do more builds in the future (I just have to finish one before I start another, lol) So after the 318ti I wonder if I will go to the E30 or maybe look into an E36 M model, or just got to an E46. Honestly if I had the money I would love to get an R33/34. If that were even possible then I think life for me would be pretty much complete. Also I saw that you owned a CRX at one point. How do you like those? I almost bought one before I got the Bimmer, becuase I love the body style and the fact that its compact.
I plasti dipped my wheels late morning. Used garbage bags to cover the brake system and did several light coats. Turned out alright. A few things I want to point out for anyone wanting to do this. Cover the tires either with painter’s tape or index cards. My tires have all kinds of ridges, lettering, and borders on the sidewalls. Even though I sprayed the sidewalls, it’s a pain in the ass to peel it off as the shit keeps ripping itself off against an edges/ripples/etc. Also the wheel(rim) had spots that didn’t get as much cover as the face of the wheel, probably could of solved that by just taking the wheels off, but I don’t have a jack/jack stands to do this. All in all, I’m happy that the wheels don’t have an ugly alloy finish anymore that cost me about 20 bucks.
Next plan is to do a legal tint on the windows and nite shade the tail lights.
It was 2nd CRX, had one before that one. Actually traded first one in a dealership for that Neon. Fuck, that was retarded.
I love CRX’s, they look sexy, and its small as fuck, yet, since its 2 seats, there is soooo much room. Its a small, very personal feeling car. However 2 problems; I hate to think how you’d fare getting into a wreck in one. Secondly, I imagine that finding one worth half a fuck is impossible today, unless its a full on restomod House of Kolor paint K20 turbo, 5lugs, caged, sitting on Volks expensive parts bin monster which is obviously gonna run 5 digits or close.
E46 are pretty cheap. Early 318s, and 323’s are sitting a 4-5000 at car lots. Give me a 330 ZHP sedan, and call it a day. Bimmers are nice, but the E46 > all. 6 speed ZHP 330i sedan with the E60 engine = GGPO. Z3M roadster liked that too.
I like FI just as much as the next car guy. I wouldn’t mind doing a FI project way down the road. The C6 is awesome. I’ve been in my share of C6s and they make you miss them once you get out. Always loved how low the windshield is. You know, if you want the best bang for the buck street machine, honestly I say pick up a Dodge Viper GTS. The earlier models with forged internals can take some psi and be fine if the V10 isn’t enough. I have seen low mileage ones as low as $38,000. Still plenty fast, 490 lb ft of torque… lots of torque for a fun street car and it’s hard to top a blue w/ white stripes GTS.
And that’s a suggestion from someone who would rather have a Corvette.
I like the Viper also. If I could find a 96 GTS for under 40k, i would do it. Got a lot of buddies running forced induction Vipers. Sick on the highway but for a drag race the build has to be totally different. it’d probably be easier to find the Vette though. They’re all over Texas.
1997 Blue w/ white stripes GTS in the magazine “Aut-a-buy” for 38 grand. Crazy stuff. I have seen the R/T 10s go for 28 grand. Still a V10, still lots of torque, and still lots of looks. If I had to choose I’d probably go for the R/T just for the targa top.
Yeah man, I always loved CRX’s and would like to have one at some point in life. I am loving my 318 right now. I admit that I have been lazy in working on it, but after seeing all the cars you have owned I am now inspired and motivated to get this taken care of and start cruisin along the lude every once in a while . Also question. I am at a crossroads, I am wondering if I should just get racing seats or continue to search for oem seats. It may end up being cheaper to get racing seats, but I am not really wanting to get harness straps or anything, I still would like to use the stock seat belt. I don’t know what to do man. Ima give the car a deep clean this weekend and am determined to make this pioneer head unit work (it worked for a second but cut out on me). Well maybe you can give me some insight on the seat problem.
I would probably just get some reclinable racing seats, if there is some retarded premium for the specific ones you want. It looks like M3 seats for E36, are sitting at $600 a set average, and other than M seats no other OEM seem to have anything special for bolsters, ect. You can probably get some random racing seats in a style and color you want for 250-300 shipped off ebay, but you’d be warned that they will fade with the quickness at the very least, not to mention possible fabric longevity issues. I would also look into some other car’s stock seats, if you feel like having brackets made. Random German cars usually have seats made by Recaro, and so do most sports model. 911 seats, made by Recaro, GTI seats, CRX Si seats, Type R seats, Cobalt SS, Evo all Recaro. If you go this route get a mass produced car’s seat. Dont go after super limited seat, because retarded premium. Also OEM seats will not have longevity issues.
CRX seats wouldnt be bad, and kind of match the E36’s look
Just look up some random sporty cars interior, you will easily find a seat that is more aggressive than standard 3 Series seats, for cheaper than M3 seats.
