I so badly want the Fiat 500 (Abarth if it comes to the US). I like small ‘fast’ cars. Though the MPGs on are kinda lame compared to the competition but who can refuse a car with such wonderful colors.
I would never own a Hyundai too low class…
The older Hyundai’s aren’t as reliable as the newer ones. Hyundai has really evolved in the past few years and currently they have a completely fresh lineup. The older Hyundai’s such as the Tiburon still had some reliability issues. On the bright side, they are really cheap.
People said the same thing about Acura and Lexus when they first came out. The Genesis is a game changer for Hyundai like the LS400 was for Lexus back in 89. I’m actually thinking about getting a Genesis sedan over a 5 series.
Hyundai’s were like Madcatz back in the day…They broke down & kill people…That’s why i would never buy a madcatz stick!
I really dont remember Lexus & Acura’s were ever considered low end…Anyway, you can polish up a Hyundai all you want its still going to be a Hyundai…
Ducky is right. Back in the day, NO ONE thought that Lexus would amount to be anything except for a huge failure, and the LS got nothing but high praise.
For Acura, it was the same, but a large amount of praise went to the NSX, which (at the time) was decades ahead of it’s time.
Hyundai (under new management) has taken very very big steps forward since the Genesis arrived
1988 m3? wow sick. get pics of that please
Lexus and Acura were not considered “low end” since they were both marketed as a premium brand. Hyundai didn’t spin off a luxury brand. Of course, I was too young to remember Lexus and Acura coming out, but they did have a stigma against them when they premiered. Everyone back then was saying “it’s still a Toyota/Honda” and that they would not pay a premium for them. They were saying the same thing you are saying about Hyundai.
It’s about time Hyundai caught up. Even Ford came up big since Mulally took over. Shit changes, man.
People who defend Hyundai must be owners…Its a low tier Honda…I would rather walk then own a Hyundai
I used to own a 2008 Civic EX coupe and would have traded that thing in a second for a Hyundai Genesis. Hyundai is the pride of South Korea and operates the largest automobile manufacturing plant in the world. With all that being said Hyundai used to be pretty crappy but has made huge strides in the quality of their vehicles lately.
I am not going to say the quality on a Genesis is as high as my civic, but it is close and the Genesis imo is way funner (and faster) to drive than a Civic. Also 8th gen civics are made in Canada and Brazil, AFAIK the only good thing that ever came out of Brazil was huge booties…
I drove a Hyundai Elantra for a month. It’s a good car.
As far as taste is concerned, I’d rather have the steering and the gas pedal a little more stiffer feeling, but then maybe it’s fine the way it is. I’d rather drive a Hyundai now because I’m not a fan of the new Honda designs. I am more fond of the old school Honda’s. The new ones are too big and perhaps too heavy.
Honda seem to have some reliability issues it seems. I was close to buying a 2008 Honda Accord Coupe but then scrapped it since I didn’t want/know how to deal with the premature rear brake fade.
Besides this, I’m not having too much fun with this manual transmission. Usually when the light turns green, I like to just take my foot the brake and take off, but with this, it’s shift into first then play with the clutch and gas pedal really carefully so the car doesn’t stall or rock. I also like to have something like a GPS in my right hand while driving, but manual requires both hand. It’s been a week and I still don’t have that much control.
How do you cruise in a manual transmission?
I am a Honda Accord and Honda Civic owner. I would definitely check out Hyundai if I were buying a new car.
That’s what driving a manual is? Did you not know this when you purchased the car? Some people, including myself, prefer the manual. Give it more time and you’ll get more proficient at it. I’ve been driving a manual for 5 years now and driving an automatic is boring. When you get more practice you’ll be able to drive with one hand, but just give it time.
Hyundai has defintely stepped up their game in the last 5 years. I’d give them a chance if I was buying a car. I would not however, mess with Kias, they have a bad reputation that is well deserved.
Its definitely a sweet ride. Gets a lot of looks and sparks up convos with random people that like the car. But in the end, it was a waste of money, and I wish I’d never got it.
Hyundai seems to have stepped up there game. I’d definitely buy a Hyundai before I get an American car.
2006 HONDA CIVIC EX 2dr - this seems like a reasonable price without being suspicious? or is it too high?
How many of you guys drive automatic???
I do for now (Accord, good car but boringggg), had a manual AW-11(MR2 Mark 1, 4AGE Blue top) before, hella fun to drive, but the clutch was harder then average so in traffic it is very tires for the left leg, even I could shift without stepping on the clutch, but you can’t do that in stop and go traffic.
Semi (2010 Mini hard top, 6 gear semi) is the best balance between comfort and fun, you still don’t get a lot of fun stuff with a manual but you still get to pick your gear in a fast manner, while stuck in traffic you can just but it back to AT and relax.
See I can hypnosis my friend to have him sell his SW-20 with a freaking BEAMS 3SGE!
Just be sure and get a carfax and then have a mechanic sign off on it.
yes i know, im more wondering if all that is fine and everything checks out, does the price, etc seem like a good grab? or could i find this car in that condition with those specs at any dealership for that price?
Raises hand
Only cause I’m lazy
Never learned to drive manual. At least I live in San Francisco where it’s way more convenient to drive an automatic.
