So anyone that wants to get in some games tomorrow at my place is free to do so, I have off work, and if you’d like, you can stay overnight or come by in the morning if you want to go to KC for Max Out on Saturday as well. Just thought I’d throw the shoutout there for anyone interested.
I’ll be over there in the evening Torrey. I’ll take that offer. With that, is there any hookups tomorrow?
I work till 5 again
No one came out last monday to Meta.
Needing some live time in a serious way.
You’ll see me a lot more on Monday’s and Saturday’s now. Work has been slowing down. I’ll be there next week on Monday at Meta games.
Do you guys ever play on weekends? I’ve been playing AE since October and I think I’ve reached a point where I can’t learn much else by myself, so I’m hoping that the locals can point out what I’m doing wrong and help me improve my game. I don’t live in Springfield (at least, not until I graduate in May) so I can’t play on weekdays due to school. Some more information: I play Akuma and my stats for XBL are ~1000 PP and ~3000 BP. I play a little bit of Marvel, but it’s mostly just to goof around with friends. I play Wolverine/Wesker/Akuma, but I’m currently trying Wolverine/Frank/Wesker. If you’re interested in playing me in AE, My gamertag is RomanTripp.
I’ve posted in this thread before, but it was a long time ago. I’ll hopefully be bringing a few more players into the scene as well, but no guarantees. Also, I’m a primary Melee player so I can’t promise I’ll be super active until at least June, because my time is limited to weekends only and I sometimes depend on the money from Melee tournaments.
I’ve also requested to join the FGC facebook page, so if you see a request by Roman, that’s me. I’m hoping the Facebook page can keep me updated so I can follow the scene more.
@hypnautix After last monday, I went ahead and scheduled myself for 10 hour shifts on Monday. Figured everyone had given up. It’ll be like this until the end of the semester now.
Spoiler
We play on Saturdays at Next Level Games from about noon/1-5ish. I’ll most likely be there tomorrow with a friend. I’ve got AE and Marvel along with some other random stuff on my PS3. I mainly play BlazBlue, but I’m waiting for the newest installment to come out.
I won’t be able to play tomorrow due to a Melee tournament, but next weekend is a strong possibility, or even Sunday. Does everybody use PS3? I’m curious if bringing my 360 FightStick would be worth it or not.
Okay, good, because after checking my gas, I’ve found I don’t really have enough to make the trip. @_@
Next weekend I (and a few more) will definitely be up there next week. We’ve been thinking about doing Sundays at NLG, but it seems fine on Saturdays so far. And I’m pretty much the only person who brings a PS3 up there. Everyone else plays on 360.
Let’s play at Meta tonight fellas. I think I’m going to be there between 6 and 6:30.
I’ll probably end up there around 5. Mouse has got work so I’m gonna drop him off then get tossed to Meta by my sister since she needs the car to /ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING FOR ONCE/.
I miss Monday nights I’ve been meaning to check with Dennis after I get off work, but I’m usually wiped and just want to hang at home once I leave. At least nights here aren’t too bad and I can do things like post on SRK, lol.
Good games last night guys. Feels good to be fighting on Monday nights again.
Yeah, no kidding. That was a lot of fun. Let’s get back on the hype train!
Thanks to all who came out to Meta last night. Didn’t expect to make it, but I’m sure glad I did. I’m sorry we couldn’t be more of a threat to you in UMvC3, Warden. It’s been switched into my treadmill X-Box game for the week to try and get some more lab time!
Got some floating holidays at work coming up, may try to schedule one for a Monday sometime.
I need some help guys. I plan on going to the Tokyo in Tulsa convention in July and entering the tournaments for UMvC3, SSF4 2012, SF x T, and Brawl.
I already know who I’m using in SSF4 and Brawl (Guy and Ganondorf), and SF x T obviously isn’t out for me to practice yet, but I’m having some team identity crisis in Marvel.
I have it pared down to knowing that I want Nova and Doom on the team, and I’m pretty sure I want Nova on point. I just need to fill that last slot.
What I would like to have is this: Nova/???/Doom, with that middle character packing both a good horizontal assist to get Nova in and let me keep Doom on Hidden Missiles assist, and a good DHC that will connect solidly after a combo ending in Supernova.
I’ve been using Storm to this end, but Whirlwind isn’t the greatest assist, and Nova doesn’t leave her a ton of meter to work with once he dies, which she needs to be even a little scary. However, Hail Storm is such a godly DHC, especially when I tag two characters with a Gravimetric Blaster punish and cancel into HS, that it’s hard to give up.
I need to drag my butt back up to Next Level for some real practice :-/
Halp plz.
I’d say then you want either :
Taskmaster (great assist, good Hyper to DHC, good character),
Hawkeye (great assist, ok Hyper to DHC, great character),
Frank West (great assist, you can use Nova’s Supernova to level Frank up fast, and he’s awesome once he hits lvl 4, otherwise he’s just ok),
Akuma (great assist, good Hyper to DHC, good character),
Dante (great assists, ok hyper to DHC , but he’s also a great character that builds good meter),
or Amaterasu (great assist, good hyper to DHC, good character).
Those are probably your best bets.
Other characters that don’t quite fit all the criteria would be :
Zero (bad assists, but good Hyper & great character),
Vergil (good assist, ok hyper, great character),
Magneto (good assist, ok hyper to DHC, great character),
Dr Strange (good assist [but not necessarily for what you want], great Hyper for DHC, good character),
or Iron Man (good assist, good Hyper, ok/good character).
Storm is a pretty good choice - Hail Storm is one of the best DHC’s in the game. Since you’re running missiles on Doom, you probably want a good zoning character for your 2nd. Hawkeye is a great choice, but he needs some meter to help keep the opponent out. Taskmaster, while a bit more rushdown oriented, can make a good zoner too if you’re good at predicting where your opponent will be. Akuma can do pretty good at running away and throwing fireballs at superjump height, but he likes to have lots of meter to do beam hypers. Amaterasu is ok at zoning, so is Dante, but I’d lean more towards Dante for character usage/meter gain and Amaterasu for her incredible Cold Star assist. If you level Frank up to 4 AND you have hidden missiles, you could probably keep the other guy in nearly permanent blockstun with his chainsaws. However, if Nova goes down before you level him up, you’ll have some serious trouble.
FatalKO. New STL ranbat
Thanks, Warden.
Out of who you mentioned, I’m drawn immediately to Hawkeye , Ammy, Frank, or sticking to my guns with Storm. I haven’t touched Ammy before, but I have a few months to pick her up.
On Frank, though… is he really worth the long-term investment? I mean, with the DHC I use to level him up, I could have killed any character with less than a million health. Plus, like you said, if Nova dies without him leveling, he’s boned. I like Frank and all, but he seems gimmicky.
Note: Also considering moving Nova to the middle, changing Doom to beam assist, and using Dante, Cap, or even gasp Wesker on point.
