But then who will deliver us SteakOut?
The 13th-14th is out for sure, since that’s the weekend of Screenland Showdown in KC. Other than that, I haven’t heard about anything else going on, so probably the next weekend (Saturday or Sunday, doesn’t matter to me) would work.
Agreed, the weekend after Screenland seems best (I’m not going to KC, but I’ve got other things happening that weekend). Either day works for me, so I’m with the majority vote.
On a side note: I’m thinking about trying to main Dudley. I wont drop Guy, just move him to the back burner for a while. Thoughts?
Dudley is a LOT of fun, and you definitely have the mechanical chops to use him. Solid character, I say.
If I had to suggest a particular drawback, it would be this: Dudley has an impressive array of options from all over the screen. To win with Dudley, you need to become adept at controlling space. This means using *all of his options. *That is harder than it sounds. Felt kind of like trying to learn Dante in MVC3. It was overwhelming. People still find new Dudley links in 3S, and that game has been around since the 'Nam. I expect the same in Arcade.
Doesn’t look like I’ll be making it out to Next-Level Games this week, either.
I hope to make it next week, but may stay in if it’s 100 degrees out next Saturday, too.
Given Capcom’s recent blunders, I’ve decided not to purchase the AE DLC or spend any money on Capcom games for the foreseeable future. It’s also hard to stay motivated to improve at SSFIV after picking up several new games (including Portal 2 and Jamestown) during the recent Steam sales.
Nevertheless, I’d still love to spar with local SSFIV players online this week! My PSN ID is gummyzergling. Add me if you haven’t already!
So Evile and I were the only ones at the Best Buy tourney on Friday. I mean the only ones.
Free stuff is always nice. I just wish we had a lil’ more notice. It’s supposed to become a more regular thing.
Prizes were $25/$15/$10 gift cards, no registration fee.
If I’d known, I’d might have tried to make it up there. And I don’t think my Cammy is that bad, since I’ve gotten a feel for SF4 and played a bit yesterday. Good games, btw, to all that came out on Saturday. Had a lot of fun, despite the small number of people…
What kind of capture card do you have? And how much did it cost?
EDIT: Wow. Just watched the tournament match videos and was amazed. Some VERY close matches and terrific skill throughout. I’m hoping I can watch the next tournament live!
There was a Best Buy tourney? Aww man, I coulda made that one
Dude, if best buy makes it a weekly I will be there. Is there a info on this weekly?
The capture card I used was this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815100049
Works really well, the only issue being that it can’t record PS3 over HDMI because the PS3 encrypts the HDMI signal over everything (360 only does so if playing an HD-DVD movie or Netflix IIRC).
Btw, sorry for skipping out on you guys Saturday, we ended up getting sent home super early due to lack of work, and I really didn’t want to try and find something to do up here from 7:30 am until noon, lol. And on my current budget and gas prices, two trips to Springfield in a day is out of the question.
Hours permitting, I’ll be there this Saturday, packing my new Dudley hotness (not really, but I’ll be using Diddles). I also want to try out Fei if someone doesn’t mind sparring a 100% Fei noob.
Electric_Gypsy I don’t mind sparring you dude. However, it will be at different location this weekend cause Evo is running and I want to watch some AE streams. I’ll be at Drunkninja42’s house on saturday. You think you can make it out?
That really depends on my work this weekend, I hate to give a definite answer just yet. I’d like to, though. I’ll get back at you guys as the weekend nears.
Odd.
Maybe this review on the Newegg product page will be of help?
Seems like a troublesome workaround, but it might be good enough…?
I used a WinTV-PVR-USB2 to capture gameplay footage on my old CRT TV, but there’s no equivalent “TV Out” port on my HDTV. Going from a 27" CRT to a 46" HDTV was a major upgrade, certainly, but I lost the ability to record direct feed videos.
@Tek7 The couple of screen capture programs I’ve played with drop frames erratically. I’m up to experiment if anyone has any suggestions. This would be in our scenes best interest to find a “good solution”
Or we can all just start playing SSF4AE PC and use whatever…
@drunkninja What time are festivities kicking off at your house? How long will you all be going?
Well, I don’t really have a definitive time for anything, except for just anytime during the weekend. I know Sang and perhaps some others are coming by Saturday, Clint was thinking possibly Sunday since that’s when Evo finals will be. It’s not so much an organized thing I guess as it is just an open house invitation. We can try hammering out some details at Meta later. As it stands now, just pick a day (or both if you want to hang that whole weekend, I got space to sleep, though you would want to bring some kind of air mattress or something if the floor doesn’t seem comfy) and come on out if you want!
@Tek7: thanks for that, I think I came across a Youtube video where a guy did the same thing with that card to record PS3, and it looked decent enough. I’ll have to give it a shot.
It probably depends on the processing power and RAM in the rig that’s used to record the games. If it’s beefy enough, FRAPS should be able to keep up without dropping frames. If it’s an older machine (like my Dell Studio 1737), it probably won’t be up to the task.
Meh. I’ve had a chance to play SSFAE PC and I wasn’t impressed. Capcom still hasn’t added support for PS3 FightStick SEs, but I don’t know about TEs. There’s a workaround, but it’s convoluted and wouldn’t be necessary if Capcom’s QA department had done their job better.
No problem! I really enjoyed capturing, encoding, and uploading gameplay videos back when I was on a CRT. I still cap the occasional footage in FRAPS. Hope the tip helps!
The problem with the PS3 TE/SEs on PC isn’t actually with S/SF4, it has to do with the chipset of the USB controller. I forget the exact one you need, but it has been discussed thoroughly in the Tech Talk forum. Many USB chipsets simply aren’t compatible with the method by which the PS3 TE/SE works for some reason. Madcatz seems to have addressed this in their latest PS3 sticks, as the Chun-Li PS3 TE does not exhibit this issue.
Also, for anyone wanting to come by this weekend, it looks like Saturday is going to be the “main” day that people are wanting to come by, so that would be your best bet if you can only come one day. Of course, as I mentioned, the invite is open all weekend, so if you want to swing by Sunday, that’s cool too. Or the whole weekend as well
