Where you been NSLBChaos

You can replace any of the SE’s stock parts for any Japanese parts. Back when vanilla SF4 was new, people who didn’t buy TE’s because they were sold out or couldn’t afford it bought SE’s and bought Jap parts for them. If you need to replace any of the parts, you can get your stuff on Lizardlick or etokki.

Yeah…the stock parts in the SE are not so great. If you don’t mind (or even prefer) the overall smaller size, and replace the stick and buttons for their Sanwa counterparts, they are not bad, though. I highly recommend doing such a swap. kona provided some good information about that. A JLF stick and OBSF-30 buttons would do nicely.

Also, I’d have to say that square gate is top tier. It might take a while to get used to it, but it’s great once you do. The same could be said for playing on stick in general, actually.

Doug/Ken/Pat comedy DHCs?!

Done.

260 Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK Joystick $22.95 1 $22.95
346 Sanwa OBSF-30, 30mm Pushbutton, Black/Grey $2.95 6 $17.70
342 Sanwa OBSF-30, 30mm Pushbutton, Black $2.95 2 $5.90
288 Sanwa LB-35 Ball Top, Red $2.95 1 $2.95
245-2 JLF-TE Harness for MadCatz FightSticks $8.95 1 $8.95
242 Sanwa GT-Y Octagonal Restrictor Plate $4.95 1 $4.95
243 Sanwa JLF-CD Shaft Cover Kit $2.95 1 $2.95
Subtotal: $66.35
Shipping: $6.20
TOTAL: $72.55

Going octagonal to see if I like it better, I’m pretty sure I will though. If not, I’ll swap it back out.

I personally don’t like octagonal, but at least you have that option of just switching it out if you end up not liking it yourself.

Work and class mostly. Duty calls lately unfortunately.

/Cosign on your list of parts, and blueNINE’s advice.

As long as you at least have a 4-way, try the eight way; but to be honest, I would give yourself a fair shot at four-way and eight-way if you want think about making the transition.

While it’s nice that eight-way sticks give you the option of more freedom to your stick movement (which can be nice for motions like half-circle, 360, 720, etc), the freedom can actually be a double-edged sword.

I’ve tried both 4-way and 8-way. And in the end, especially for non-grapple characters, the restriction of a 4-way helps for more precise motions (QCF/QCB) for both Shoto-based characters and for charge characters as well. Highly recommended that you at least try out both and make an educated decision on it before going straight to eight-way.

Edit - Didn’t see this post:

I just fleshed it out a little. :coffee:

Just ordered my Evo monitor tonight. Will hopefully get it by next weekish. Can’t wait to finally play games in lagless HD.

Done with fighting games until something comes out that I actually enjoy playing. Tired of trying to force myself to be good in a genre that I haven’t enjoyed since T5:DR.

I’ll host a few more fight nights through out the year but I’m really upset with how MvC3 plays at its current state. Its not even just XFactor for me, its the how the combos pretty much do themselves.

edit: Never thought I’d be the guy excited for TTT2. I didn’t really care for T6 but I didn’t get into it like crazy.

Grats to Ivan for winning at Takashi Cup today I believe!

lets play dancing games again pat. We’ll be the only two people who even care about it. it’ll be fun!

Pat: Yeah I agree. MvC3 is the just the dissapointment of the decade for me. I do agree now that damage on regular combos is a little too high, although X-Factor continues to be the main problem for me. If you aren’t playing this game for fun then it can potentially be a health hazard.

Welp, at least I have MK9 and an American localization of AH3 to look forward to.

MK9!!!

Kona we should get together for some MvC3 and Blazblue. I have been interested in learning Bang for some reason, despite the huge nerfs for CSII.

Hey Bluenine, I forgot to ask you at pats last weekend but I was interested in doing dual compatibly mod to my fight stick. Do you have any info on this? My stick is for the 360 if thats matters.

PS Hey Sails how are you coming along?

If you just want to do PS3/Xbox 360 dual modding, you would need a Chimp board. If you want multi-console support like PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, other older consoles; you’ll need a Multi-console Cthulhu board and an Imp board. I don’t do modding but I’ve had my stick modded and know parts you need to get it done. blueNINE can probably further elaborate on it when he sees this.
