Which are her best team-combinations? I’m a newbie and she is my favourite so far because of SSFIV (though she is MUCH easier to use here)

How do you guys feel about Viper (Burn Kick)/Ghost Rider (Hellfire)/Taskmaster (Horizontal Shot)?

I know Ghost Rider is really weak, but I love the character and he’s got great synergy with Viper.

Im working on Viper/Vergil right now, who is a good candidate for 3rd slot? I was thinking ammy, but idk if she goes well with Vergil at all.

im working on this too, was running viper/magnus/sentinel but honestly i think they have shitty synergy so im just making a ?/vergil/sentinel shell, magneto and viper both benefit greatly from that pairing from what ive been working on. vergil with sentinel is also all he needs thanks to viper and magneto’s battery properties and strong neutral games to give him meter to play around with. the only issue is of course sent anchor, but you can make it work. if you play correctly it shouldnt be worse than 1v1 with anchors imo.

Anyways you could always run Strider/Tony(LIKE ME)/Doom(beam or missiles for lockdown)/Taskmaster since they are good for both. Ammy doesn’t do much for Vergil honestly. Arthur with daggars is pretty fucking fun. Gold Daggars with Viper is LOL amounts of ground control. They pierce and Vergil gets combos off Judgement cuts and Rapid Slash with them. Anchor Arthur is gimmicky and solid at the same time.

real talk imma fuck around with drones but they seem like theyre too slow for his type of rushdown game, might have to stray away from my usual style and try something else just for drones. if all else fails vergils goin on anchor

I’m playing viper/vergil/dante(weasel shot) atm, did 4th place at the last tourney with that team. Viper/vergil is so ridiculous! ^^

I’m starting to feel Viper/Taskmaster/Doom.

DHC’s are good, screen control is good, mix ups are insane, HUGE meter gain and damage. I’m really starting to feel it.

thats my problem, I want to play vergil 2nd so that I can get those TOD, but I hate Doom anchor, its hard to find 1 specific assist that helps viper and vergil alike : (

Viper/Taskmaster works well, although, I don’t use the Horizontal assist (though with Strider I don’t typically need to… considering changing it up though). I’d say Go Viper/Task/Ghost for the ridiculous DHC damage potential (2 bars = 1.1+ mil), but somehow I’m gonna bet that Ghost Rider makes a horribad anchor.

No… it’s really not that hard:

Doom (Neutral Helper/Mixups/Lockdown/DHC)
Strider (Anti-air/Semi-Lockdown/DHC/Semi-Neutral Helper)
Akuma (Neutral Helper/Mixups/Lockdown/Safety DHC/Get-off-me)
Taskmaster (Neutral Helper/Mixups/Semi-Lockdown/DHC)
Wesker (Combo OTG/Safety DHC/Unblockables)
Amaterasu (Neutral Helper/Mixups/Lockdown/DHC/THC/Focus Unblockables)
Dante (Neutral Helper/Semi-Mixup/DHC/Lockdown)

And those are just of the characters that I play.

Some others would be:

Hawkeye (Neutral Helper/Mixups/DHC)
Iron Man (Neutral Helper/Mixups/Combo DHC)
Magneto (Neutral Helper/Mixups/3 Meter too-good-super)

And most of those do just fine without any help (anchors), and I’m sure I’ve forgotten a few others.

Essentially, what is a relaunch or neutral assist for Viper works well as a teleport mixup assist for Vergil, generally speaking. The only hard part is deciding, specifically, what you want your assist to do. Although some of those charter’s assist do pretty much everything you could ask for.

If you still have problems figuring out something to work with, try keeping this in mind -> Vergil doesn’t “need” an assist nearly as much as Viper does.

If your team configuration does indeed end up Viper/Vergil/Anchor, also keep in mind that Viper typically builds a whole hell of alot more meter than she uses. Which, meter is what Vergil “needs” as opposed to an assist. So keeping that in mind you might want to focus on making sure your anchor is just that… a very well-capable anchor that just happens to help Viper while being of some minimal use to Vergil.

I was wondering, if you’re going to do Viper/Vergil/Dante, wouldn’t it be best to use the Crystal assist? Vergil really needs an OTG for his TOD malarkey, and Viper can probably use it for midscreen relaunches much more easily than other assists. I guess you could also use the seismo assist if you’re not concerned about going for unblockables with burn kick and/or really want Jam Session/Weasel Shot, but just something to consider.

Also, is there any way to get a decent relaunch using Hawkeye’s Greyhound assist? I have not been able to figure out anything :confused:

he aint that great though, then again all my chars are top tier so going to a midtier is bleh

Viper/Dante/Strider is still my favorite team, I just had to stop using it for a while because I was too reliant on Strider.

Why is it ridiculous? Been thinking about Viper / Doom / Vergil, I really don’t like Doom as Anchor, but I don’t know about Vergil. From which of his assists can Viper benifit the most?

It’s ridiculous because of the DHC potential which pretty much kills the entire cast for 2 meters. And use Rapid Slash.

Vergil’s a great anchor if you can manage him without assists, although with your team construction you’d lose the aforementioned DHC synergy.

So I know I don’t post enough videos often enough anymore or any new info. I’ve recently given up on viper for otherwise just getting bored of her. Moved on to other characters as of recently because i was lazy at training with her. I feel like I’ve simply exhausted all my possible ways to optimize my combos and most mix-ups with her. I know i could work on more and still am but lately I’ve been dragging. So to get me interested with this character again i have been making a VERY in depth guide with her (Easily much more info than any other guide out there I’m sure). I’m about a week in but the things i’ve found have been so… great. I’ve become more interested in the character now and I am now thinking of this character and this game more-so toward the likes of Street fighter. Know your options in EVERY situation. And I mean every situation. One of the things i will be working on in this thread is match-ups. And I’m talking about options in specific spacing playing certain characters. Mobility, Attack, Defense. Also Defensive option selects, Offensive option selects and counter option selects. So to start this off I thought I would like to figure out Logan Vs. Viper since logan is or can look random as hell and win every match… That and he has better 50/50’s than noel brown has ever used. So I mean to tame the beast. Anyways something to start us out is an OS I figured out against logan.

(For Drew! and sorry maybe I exaggerated that it would cover a lot of Wolverine’s options. I really meant a lot of stuff im working on will slow him down and allow ToD combo conversions.)

First of all this OS is meant for a specific type of Logan player. And you will notice how they play right away if they try this 50/50 or frame trap on you.

Option 1 with Wolverine: Dash st.L XX (Light or medium) beserker slash xx Beserker charge.
The other version is
Option 2 with Wolverine: Dash st.L Jump Divekick.

These are very common offensive attempts. (Mind you this ignores assist uses. But I am taking those into account to when I make this thread. They will probably be in a separate section along with the match-up on specific assists)

So the OS to stop both of these is

C.Viper: Down back (Block st.L) Focus attack (hold) Dash st.M

For wolverine Option 1: as soon as you see the st.L get blocked hold down back and focus as soon as you see st.L do it as if you react to advance guard. Then proceed with a delayed dash into an immediate st.M. If done right you will take a hit from beserker slash and dash into st.M. As soon as wolverine is out of beserker charge he wont be able to block or attack. You will hit him into a full combo.

For wolverine option 2: as soon as you see the st.L get blocked… instead of advance guarding hold down back and focus as soon as you see the st.L. as if you were trying to Advance guard. Once he is up in the air the dive kick will ensue where you will take the hit. Dash forward and st.M into a full combo

For wolverine doing something after st.L like st.M, st.H you will do a late advance guard which in most cases will clear you for the 50/50 with some extra block stun.

So short and sweet there is one i have been working on. I have plenty of things I am working on and have figured out against this matchup but it would take way too long to type it all down now. So… :slight_smile: Hopefully you guys agree on this thread. I will also be doing OS stuff and demonstrations of things i will be posting in video form as well. I’m excited for this thread. Tell me what your thoughts are.

Oh btw I figured out another OS for those wolverine setups that works for any character in the game. Hold back and double or triple tap heavy. Don’t mash.

St.L is unsafe on block. Thats right he can get thrown out of it if wolverine tries to jump. Probably -1 or -2, but since Marvel is so nice to us with inputs between block stun it is easy to snag him. If he tries and do a beserker slash then you can throw him out of it before he attacks you from the other side. Only downfall to this OS is if wolverine decides to go st.L to cr.L then you get hit with a cr.L.
