There are very few characters who I feel benefit from just lower shot as their exclusive assist, why have Wesker in back as opposed to Center? Also, I feel Trish does well on that team.
You could also try Taskmaster. He benefits from the Wesker assist, has a good horizontal assist, and he’s an all around good character. Also he can extend Viper thunder knuckle combos.
I feel like Wesker anchor works pretty well, and I don’t think Wesker has very good DHC’s. Anyways thanks guys I was already thinking about Trish for her unblockables and Taskmaster for his overall well-roundedness as well. I guess I’ll just experiment and see. Thanks!
Hey guys. New Viper player here as well. After watching Chou play at Kubosgarden I pretty much fell in love with playing the Strider/Vergil duo. I did a lot of searching and found Viper to be a great point for the team so here I am.
I guess my question is about team order. I prefer to run my team Viper/Strider/Vergil, basically to keep my Strider/Vergil duo intact. Vergil anchor is pretty dominant. Viper burns whatever meter she gets and then Strider rebuilds it with resets and gets it ready for anchor Vergil to go nuts with. Though I’m finding some pretty big problems with the order too. Viper into Strider DHC isn’t anything special. Damage is mediocre. It’s mostly safe but certainly not as safe as Viper/Vergil. Strider into Viper DHC is practically non-existent.
Viper/Vergil seems to have a lot of great perks though. DHC into Spiral Swords is monstrous. Vergil has great synergy with Viper second as well. The thing is that when Viper dies I’m not sure I like Vergil/Strider as much as I do Strider/Vergil. I also find that Strider anchor runs out of gas quickly after xfactor is done and can be pretty damn hard to work with if you don’t have xfactor at all with him. Vergil anchor is always a threat if he has some bar, xfactor or not. I haven’t really explored the duo all too much but I know there’s a few Viper/Vergil players here so hopefully you guys can drop some knowledge on me.
I’m just wondering if playing Viper/Vergil/Strider is that much better of an order than Viper/Strider/Vergil because in the end my goal is to optimize the team.
imo Viper/Vergil/Strider is the way to go. Viper and Vergil both get more mileage out of Vajira then Strider does Rapid Slash. Also I think Strider is a better anchor than Vergil. Viper/Vergil/Strider opens up TOD’s off of grabs with Viper and a completely safe way to get Viper out if she needs to recover health. (Emergency Combination DHC into Spiral Swords)…oh and V/V/S sounds cooler >.>
Thanks for the quick reply. ToDs off of grabs sure as hell sound nice. I’m pretty unfamiliar with how well Vergil uses Vajra but I guess that’s something I can dig up in the Vergil forums. I’m curious as to why you think Strider is a better anchor than Vergil though. Vergil anchor is pretty nuts.

I think Strider anchor is better because
-Vajira is a better assist than Rapid Slash
-When Strider is alone he only needs meter OR XF to be scary while Vergil needs both
-Strider is better without meter and xfactor imo because he can cover his own mix-ups and he is much harder to punish
-Strider lvl3 XF + Orbs is literally a guaranteed dead character unless you get hit by a random super, Vergil doesn’t have anything that good.
Honestly they are both amazing anchors so if you wanted to make your team order match-up dependent that would work well.
I’ll give it a shot. I don’t know any tricks with Vergil and Vajra yet but I’m sure they’re there. And of course, you’re right that Vajra is just an over all better assist than Rapid Slash. I think that in trying to make sure that everything was synergistic, I kind of forgot the fact that “Vajra is pretty damn good” is a solid reason to run Strider last too.
Hey guys, Viper noob here trying to learn her after playing less-execution heavy characters for a long time. Also picking up Dante and trying to make a team out of them. Right now I have:

I feel like Weasel Shot gets the job done for Viper in a lot of different situations, but Dark Hole is really limited. Comboing into it after an OTG is really tough, it scales damage, and I feel like it doesn’t help her get in all that well. If I’m wrong about this, please let me know. In the meantime, what assist would fit this team well? Should I be looking for a beam, lockdown, something else?
Seismo puts person in airborne state, Strider comes down and hard knocks them down out of the air. That alone is reason to have Strider anchor over Vergil anchor. You basically take up the whole vertical space with every seismo and any seismo that coincides with the vajra assist gives you an easy ass hit confirm off a hard knockdown.
^^^^ This. You can still run Viper anchor with Burning kick and get some amazing results and some dirty mix-ups, but Vajra an assist is too good to pass up. The applications for Viper and Vajra assist don’t just stop there. You can have some dirty combos, resets because vajra tracks and its an overall great AA when used right.

tryna find a character that goes with magnus/sentinel, think viper could go on point? i know viper/magnus and magnus/sentinel are strong pairings, but im not sold on viper/sent. im also considering ammy but cold star scales way too hard for magnus…

I’d say Viper/Mags/Sent is the best order there. Viper gets a beam assist plus drones for lockdown. Once she dies, there’s still mags with sent drones which is a really strong pairing.

So I’ve been tinkering with viper recently, and I really really like her a lot. Definitely still getting used to her though. I’m going to go ahead and assume she’s best on point ? Which is where I’m running her right now, which brings me to my questions:
I’m currently running viper / Dante, but I’m not sure I like how it feels…I really like both characters individually, but together…idk. I feel like viper doesn’t do anything for Dante when he’s on point…maybe I’m just using the wrong assist with her and I should star setting up unblockables, but either way, Dante > viper dhc is pretty ass…like…I can’t do anything unless I feel like burning a level 3 with viper, or if they’re in the corner. My anchor character I’m kinda cycling through various characters…strider is great for the obvious reasons, sent gives both Dante and viper a free way in, but drones is still attatched to sent…and if Im playing sen only for drones, I feel like I’m only playing 2.5 characters. I don’t like anchor ammy at all, and I can’t stand doom for the sheer fact that everyone is all over dooms nuts. I would like to throw akuma in there for tatsu and dhc purposes. I also am dead set in using viper. Yeah I like Dante, but he can go if he must. I digress, what are yalls thoughts on :
Viper / dante / akuma
Viper / akuma / Dante
Viper / akuma / strider ( health seems to be a big issue here )
Viper / ______ / akuma
Idk why, and I haven’t tested anything, but I have a feeling akuma works well with viper…please correct me if I’m wrong. If akuma does work well with her, what other characters do you think would work with the two of them ?

Dante/Viper you should definitely be using Viper burn kick for unblockables. Plus you’re Dante. All of your combos should wall carry so that you can get million dollars in to burst time.
Strider is great.
Sent is a great character beyond drones. Seriously, he isn’t just an assist character.
All of those teams you posted could work. Just try them out and see which ones you like best or learn all of those characters and find out what works best when you’re placed in a different situation. Example: I ALWAYS use strider against zoning characters/teams or flying characters, but I do have non-anchor Strider teams that I actually prefer in most situations.
between all those teams i would run viper dante akuma, its actually one of my sub teams.

I was kinda thinking about running viper / zero / Dante, but I’m not sure. I’ll have time to test stuff out tomorrow, but I’m just theory crafting right now. Also, maybe viper / sent / strider ? Akuma is still a character I’m kinda interested in but I don’t know if he works well with viper…any input on any of this would be great <3
a lot of people like viper/zero but personally i cant find ANY synergy… watch chrisis play and you can see that pair in action.
