No it isnt , you just have to practice. Dooms beam is better , but magneto can get in that ass alot better than doom can, which is more important. Especially since you play vergil id say stick with mag, because his beam comes out way faster.
Gotya, I was watching some old MarlinePie vids, and I realized the Mags disruptor helped a lot. I’m at home now and can’t test but will Doom’s beam work as well as Mag’s Disruptor.
Keep in mind this is vanilla,
Play Dog. Rapid Slash is perfect for getting your opponent to the corner THen use cold star and lock them up and apply pressure. I think thats what ive been doing. Ive been running:
Viper(Seismo)/Vergil(Rapid Slash)/Amaterasu(Cold Star) and
Viper(Burn Kick)/Vergil(Rapid Slash)/Doom(Hidden Missiles)
out of the two I think team 2 is better but team one is way more fun to play. lol. Also Cold star seems really good for vergil. I think I need to play with it more but its been working really good in helping both my viper and vergil apply pressure and lock the opponent down.
It appears that with the new patch magneto’s addf L is significantly faster . This is a slight but HUGE buff. Im dabbling with viper mag akuma, and viper morri mag
I’ve been playing Viper/Spencer/Hawkeye lately and I really want to change out Spencer for another character. I like Dorm, but I feel like there isn’t much synergy there. Can his assists help out Viper mid-combo or do they really just help her get in?
i’m not sure about dorm dark hole may work like a jam session because it holds them there, but i’ve never really tried
i do use hawkeyes assist to relaunch though, and she gets the poison damage as well
On the topic of Viper/Magneto, I have been running this duo again since recently just to try out the new Magneto, and I have to say it is still a solid team, especially with backup from Amaterasu (Cold Star). The dynamics of this team have changed a lot since Vanilla though. A few new things I have been using:
- EMD not giving you a free relaunch is not much of an issue. I have been incorporating it in TK Feint combo’s and it works just fine. An example of a simplified BnB:
cr.:h:, L/M.TK Feint,:h:, L/M.TK Feint,
(Call EMD),:h:, L/M. TK Feint (EMD hits)
:h::s:,
:h:,d.j.
:h::s: L.Seismo, Burst Time: 820k and builds 1¼ bar.
- EMD is great for resets, since it can make opponents air tech very low to the ground. For example after an OTG. Seismo naturally makes opponents pop up high, but EMD prevents that and makes them tech very low instead. Viper has so many options, that it becomes a wild guess: dash under fake/crossup, air grab, ADD/DF, etc.
- Burning Kick can be useful for Magneto in the corner, with Repulsion, to create hardtoblock-/unblockables.
And there is probably more stuff with this team that I’m missing from my limited play time.
My opinion on Magneto; still a very strong character and still a monster in the corner. Depends a lot on assists(Drones, Cold Star for example) and Magnetic Blast to cover him when playing offense. Can’t be played like the Vanilla version all that much, and I place a lot of emphasis on Magnetic Blast and Repulsion/A/G when playing him. Magnetic Blast is just as insane as it was in Vanilla. I also like how he can handle some of the more annoying matchups that Viper has without an AA assist, such as Trish.
With that said, I’m not too motivated running this team, because Strider.
So we know that Viper/xx/Strider is a really really good. Any opinions on whose the best character in the middle. I think its either Vergil(Rapid Slash) or Doom(Plasma Beam).
I vote Doom Missiles just because they they are great for relaunches, lockdown, zoning, combo breakers and are just all around great for mind-fucking your opponent.
It may seem redundant to have missiles and Vajra both as an assist but I feel that Viper can get away without a horizontal assist, so why not just pile on two of the best Vertical assists outside of jam session to help out her bad spots.
ive actually also been exploring this new magneto. I never played him in vanilla but im trying him out now and I think this magneto. The loops are not that hard to do besides the hyper grav loop. Also he does go really well.
Ive been trying out:
Viper(Seismo)/Strider(Vjara)/Magneto(Disruptor) and
Viper(Seismo)/Doom(Missiles)/Magneto(Disruptor).
they both seem strong. I was trying to find a good anchor so I can play strider in the middle. I think mags might work
could viper(kick or seismo)/dante(jam session)/strider(vajira) work?
This is my team. It works well for me.
what assists dou you run on viper and dante since everyone tells me jam session covers the same area as strider i should use weasel shot but jam session is the best assist for viper… and some general tips of the team how do you aproach or dunno just tips plz
I run Viper(BK/TK matchup dependent)/Dante (Jam Session)/ Strider (Vajra)
I actually completely disagree with that statement. Sure, Vajra covers the air like Jam Session, but Jam Session comes out faster, more efficiently protects her weak spot right in front of her, enhances her pressure/rushdown game, gives her unblockables… It’s still absolutely amazing. Sure, Vajra acts as a close range anti-air, but it also acts as a full screen anti-air, and allows for easy hitconfirm into full combo, gives her a relaunch, and helps her zoning.
They may overlap, but the places they overlap Jam Session completely overtakes Vajra. But everything else you can do with vajra still makes it an amazing assist even if Jam Session is there.
thank you very much ! i agree with you
You need a really strong neutral game in order to do that, but I do agree that you can run Jam session Vajra with her.
It depends on your strengths as a player. If you really feel that with Viper solo that you beat every character on the ground regardless of their assists you can run that team. Otherwise having Weasel shot is helpful as it lets you do more work with a more ground based neutral assist.
Yes your back Chrisis =).
Ive been running Viper(/Doom/Strider for awhile but I recently was trying a new team at a session i went to and I did not win much with it but I feel if I explore it more I can develop it to be a really good team.
What do you guys think of Viper(Seismo)/Vergil(Rapid Slash or Rising Sun)/Trish(Low Voltage).
There is no vertical coverage but I figured for characters that dominate in the air I can always switch to Trish/Viper/Vergil
If you’re confident in your Trish’s ability to beat Zero and Firebrand I can advocate that. I do however feel certain match ups will be harder with that team. Have you fought many Magnetic Blast happy Magnetos?
I would go with Trish/Vergil/Viper. I don’t know if Vergil is a good anchor.
I think Trish anchor is really strong. Im kinda hesitent to play Viper anchor. I think shes pretty strong but needs an assist to help pin her opponent down. Vergil anchor is um decent. He is really good in x factor lvl 3 but once its gone its kinda hard for him to mix up and stay safe unless you have meter. But yea thanks for the input I will consider it. I know you play Trish/Viper ShadowGT and I was wondeirng who else you think goes well with that combination.
I havent ran into a Firebrand yet so Im not sure but I can handle rushdown zeros really well with Trish. I play a couple of zeros and they all find my Trish annoying so I guess Im doing a good job.
As for magneto I have alot of trouble fighting him. Im not sure how to deal with his pressure. The tick throws give me the most trouble. Im glad they slowed his tridashes down. It was way too fast in vanilla. But any advice for the magneto matchup with Viper
