Maybe I’m just a scrub, but doing an assist-less combo using an assist sounds rather hard to me.
im not dj but here is one. I think I saw marlinpie doing this but after you smash them. call cold star seismo j. s l. bk fient j. h burn kick
So your talking about after the hard knockdown J.S at the end of MMH DJ MHS right?
All you have do do is input focus attack, then while you holding down the buttons take your finger off of S while still holding the other button. Next you input the motion for the seimo while pressing down S. Thats how they’re doing it in the video.
Sup guys.
I’m rocking trish/firebrand/viper (bk).
Haven’t committed to trish or FB assists yet. I find all three of Trish’s assists are useful, especially low voltage and hopscotch for horizontal and vertical cover (for viper especially) respectively. Peekaboo definitely still on the cards though.
Firebrand’s H swoop is the closest thing I get to covering viper’s blind spot, I think, but because I use viper’s BK for unblockables I lean towards hellfire spit to give Trish an OTG. That said Trish is there foremost as a battery so I wouldn’t mind giving the OTG up.
Firebrand and viper are pretty much locked in for me (sorry Ve!) because I like the way they play. I know FB doesn’t do much for Viper but she’s really helps him pile on damage. I like Trish a lot too but I’m more willing to experiment with that slot.
Thoughts, suggestions? I’d appreciate anything short of a stfu nub.
Sitting around at work thinking about marvel and… I run vip/virg/te and im just wondering after i land a combo that uses two assists and ends with a DHC to spiral swords, is it possible to use the DHC’d out character’s assist while vergil continues to combo?? Since technically that character has not used their assist in the combo…basically can i “cheat” to get a triple assisted combo? I can test it myself when i get off, but if anyone already knows…
viper, wolverine, akuma is a very cheap team. Did anyone else know that you could relaunch in the corner with viper using wolverine tornado claw assist. Combo, land, call wolverine, L. siesmo, H Burn Kick, S.
Okay, so I started messing around with Viper(BK)/Doom(Missiles)/Ammy(Cold Star). Basic B&B without assists 750k and net gain of 20% meter.
I’m lacking a beam assist to push in with horizontal space, but I do have Cold Star. I’m working on the B&B’s but I’d like to expand the combos. Also some people here seem to have more experience pairing with Doom and Ammy.
Any suggestions on how to use those assists outside of combos along with Viper. The use of the beam to cover Vipers approach is pretty simple. But using Missiles and Cold Star I’m not sure how to go about it. Any good advice is welcome
I wouldn’t use cold star as an approach. It’s more of a rushdown/lockdown tool, and a medium-range rushdown deterrent. Using it to approach could be dangerous, since you’d have to get to at least medium range to do it, and its start up isn’t all that great. I can see ammy getting hurt.
You’re right, you lack a beam assist, which means a traditional assist approach isn’t possible. I’m seeing more of an in-and-out rushdown viper for you: Get far away, call Doom missiles, Cover him with seismos to deter projectile/teleport counters, and then rush them down while all the missiles are in the air. After starting this rushdown, coldstar is good for keeping it going, and setting up mixups. Again, you can also use it in certain matchups to deter/reverse rushdown. You have to be very careful with these assists though, because they’re fairly slow, and both have nill invincibility after landing. Know your match-ups.
EDIT: This is all my theoretical understanding, from what I’ve seen and even just what goes through my mind when I picture the team. Take it all with a grain of salt.
Gotya, it will take actual matches and match-up experience to see if this works. The only reason why I don’t have Doom with beam assist is to cover vertical area of the screen that Viper can’t touch. MarlinPie got away with using Magneto and his beam assist and Ammy(Cold Star). I don’t want to give up Ammy’s slot for Vajra how ever tempting that may be.
I may just have to keep a pocket Strider if the team composition warrants it, then switch Doom to beam for the tradition approach.
I don’t play with that team vip/doom/army but I agree in theory with 3sided
I also think being able to fadc your siesmos consistently after the missiles are out would be very beneficial to your efforts to getting in
This was my main team in vanilla. I used the same assists as well. I did not like it that much but I can tell you how I played this team. It was basically as ThreeSided mentioned.
I would get into range so that I can call Dr. Doom’s Hidden Missiles, and then dash and get into Heavy Seismo range. Its important to get into this range because this is where Viper/Hidden Missiles gets really scary. I would next either Seismo chain or FADC my Seismos or just basically apply seismo pressure and call assists. If they are dashing I would call Amaterasu and if they take to the air I would Hidden Missiles them. But what you want to do is condition them to play passively using Hidden Missiles and Seismo. Once they respect your ground game, go forward. Now is when the fun begins. When you get in attack range, you mainly want to rely on cold star to apply pressure as it comes out quicker. Pin them and apply ur mixups until they are dead.
The teams I would lose to in Vanilla are Weskers and Magnetos. To this day I am very bad against them. The reason Wesker and I think other teleporters might destroy this team type would be because if Wesker or someone got in range to cross up with thier teleport they would crossup and punish. So remember while you are applying pressure sometimes backdash and stay in range so Wesker cannot cross you up with his teleports. The other teleporters teleport by tracking your position but I dont really know what to do against this as I only played one Vergil and I just switch Amaterasu for Strider lol.
So what you want to do with you team is condition them to be passive with your heavy seismos and hidden missiles. Once they start respecting you, destroy them.
BNBs:
Hidden Missiles: Do your ground stuff and right before you launch them call hidden missiles. Use this air series: j. m j. h (double jump) j. m j. h j. s. When you land wait for the first missile to hit and at the same time hit them with a Cr. H and st. S.
I would end my combos with Cold star I dont really use it for relaunch as I dont know how outsite of the corner:
So yea this is kinda how I played. I hope it helps. And feel free to let me know if this sucks or isnt working. And I hope this helps.
The B&B helps a lot, as far as teleporters go I kinda figured that would be an issue but that is just standard teleport problems. I do have question reguarding the box loop, is there any reason people are recommending doing a super jump during the seismo, I find that I can still get it to work with a normal jump. Is there some other reason to super jump cancel as opposed to a normal jump?
If you are getting it consistently with normal jump then don’t change. I used to use normal jump but the timing is tighter so I switched to sj
also an idea if you have the fingers for it when in that heavy Seismo range, charging laser with m/l probably the one you wouldn’t use to fadc with so you always have the laser as an option too.
to deal with teleporters I feel its important to switch doom to plasma beam/molecular shield or switch amaterasu to strider.
So is there a reason people ditched Magneto? Because EMD doesn’t do a soft knockdown anymore? Is that it? I like Magneto and he seems just as good for Viper outside of the knockdown thing. I really don’t like Iron Man so I’m gonna go back to Magnus.
It hurts my soul to say this but hes just not the same. His tri dash game gets beat by bullshit slides etc. The emp nerf isnt the reason. The air dash nerf kills him because of the fact that it gives your opponent more time to see your mixup and throw out a random attack. If you ever played a good nova you’d see that you have to work twice as hard . I personally think its because his normals have no priority, that and his low health. My morrigan vs magneto ratio is stupid high.
Well my only other choices for beams are Iron Man and Doom and I HATE Doom and Iron Man sucks.
I run viper (bk) morrigan (duh!!) and akuma (tat), and i found myself wanting a beam assist myself, but the only reason why is because my rapid seismo game isnt @ a 100 percent . But when it is id have a much better character in morrigan than magneto sad to say. IMO if your seriouse about a beam assist and think it fits your game, i strongly advice making magneto your anchor. , with that said he’d be godlike in that spot!
Magneto’s beam assist is actually really hard to combo from. I might swallow my pride and just play Viper/Vergil/Doom.
