i feel like i’m doing it wrong i also run viper/trish
but it seems i’m the only one that likes peekaboo traps over voltage assists
no if its working thats awesome. =) The thing is low voltage allows for a really easy relaunch and I could not get anything outta peekaboo when I used it
Iinara, peekabo is good if you have another assist that helps you control the area that’s not directly next to you, like if you have EM disruptor or something similar. However most people have something like Jam session which controls the near vertical meaning your neutral game needs to be much better to deal with people who are trying to control a lot of situations. It’s possible it’s just figuring out whether peekabo gives you more positives than Low voltage does.
I’ve only messed around with Dog, Task, and Dante. Dog, and task work as well as dante. The only problem with dante for me though was that I was to lazy to relearn him.
I heard viper could do unblockables with strider assist. Is this true, if so is it just the normal way of assist + focus?
The normal way since Strider doesn’t hit overhead.
but doesn’t strider cause little hitstun?
But how are you getting unblockables out of that?
I think he’s asking if you can do a focus attack unblockable with one of strider’s assist.
See, I’ve been hearing the same thing for a while now, that you can get an unblockable with Viper using Vajra assist. It doesn’t hit high, so I can only assume that it somehow has enough hitstun to set up for it? Idk, it doesn’t make sense to me either.
I’m calling BS on this rumor. I mean Vajra has like, no hitstun.
I think the unblockable is on incoming characters. Vajra forces the character to block and pushes them down when you’re doing a focus attack.
Ah, that could make more sense.
hey guys so I just got back from a session today and I was trouble with the magneto matchup. How do you handle Magneto. Also when is a good time to call Vjara assist to knock down characters out of the air that enter flight mode
Magneto is tricky. Viper has trouble with fast opponents, but her best tools are Ex.Seismo, a well timed L.Seismo into a combo on Magneto’s who tri-dash in a lot, air throw and SJ heavy BK. These tools work well for magneto’s approaching. Air throw is great but a good Magneto will place a j.L on a tri-dash to get in which makes it near impossible to throw. If you see a magneto go for a SJ tri-dash j.H then punish it with air throw. If you find that the magneto is backing away you will most likely see a EM Beam or hes backing up to call an assist. Use those new glasses she has. It sometimes has to be about reading the opponent, Magneto has the tools to make Viper have trouble, but you just need to know your punishes and learn that magneto’s tendancies. Oh yeah don’t get caught on the ground in a lock down assist. It’s much better for you to SJ out of any assists to avoid giving the magneto 2 or 3 easy high-low opportunities to hit you. I don’t think I’ve once been able to rush down a Magneto just because his options are just that good. You just have to outsmart them.
If you face a bugs bunny rushdown Magneto then focus-EX Seismo blows him up for free all day long.
If you are playing one that likes to zone it gets a little trickier. Ones that mix it up can make it a little harder too. My advice in these circumstances is just play basic seismo zoning but dont get greedy. Trying to multiple seismo against Magneto is a bad idea (or at least in my encounters). One bad seismo can lead to the end of Viper… so I always try to throw one in front of him instead of one directly at him unless the Magneto is very disruptor zoning happy.
I feel like this matchup is pretty even maybe even slightly in Magnetos favor. It has gotten better since Vanilla for sure where I though Magneto was one of her worse matchups. I do think the Magneto player needs to play MUCH smarter though whereas Viper has a lot more wiggle room for mistakes.
This too.
about this vajra unblockable setup
i do something similar with peekaboo
where they can either block/hit it/get caught and the amount of time it takes them to drop they always get hit with the focus.
however with vajra i think if you get hit in the air vs blocking it they reach the ground at different times that don’t allow the focus to hit both situations
The Strider assist connecting lets you seismic hammer into combo so it’s okay. The thing is people can advance guard to hang higher in the air to avoid stuff which is really an issue.
ah i forgot about ag because it’s not your attack but it would still change the timing, didn’t even consider that o.O
