Gotya, yeah Strider Vajra is very good at that. I wanted to mess around with Viper/Strider/Doom as well.
If you run that config, then I would put doom on one of his other two assists (Beam seems to be the consensus). However, I would put Strider in the anchor spot.
That’s what I figured, what’s the best assist for Viper in that team, Seismo?
I don’t know exactly, I would probably run BK personally. Viper’s assist choice is largely a matter of preference on most teams. I’m sure you can come up with a setup using Doom Hidden Missiles, then Call BK while empty trijump jC with Doom for an unblockable.
TK is nice for reversal usage, which Strider in particular can benefit from.
Seismo, depends on team, see how much milage your guys get out of it. I know when I use doom, I almost use Wesker gun as a combo extender, Seismo would work too.
Explain the unblockable your talking about to me. Doom really doesn’t need an OTG assist. Having a nice reversal assist does sound good, I will try out some things when I get home.
Well I used the OTG with Doom to allow me to finish a combo with Sphere Flame, but that might just be an old habit from vanilla as finger lasers does alot more damage now.
Unblockable is simple, find a way to make them block hidden Missiles (Doom on point), the Call BK while you go low. I recommend the tridash first to help in case they decide to PB you to death.
I usually end my Doom combos with air finger lasers, or lvl 3 depending on the circumstance. PB?
PB = Pushblock.
I have a bad habit of jumbling all the terms from different games together. It’s why you’ll see me do stuff like use ABC and LMH or Dead angle/Counter Assault/CC interchangeably.

Gotya, it’s all good. Level with me though, how hard is Viper’s execution for her B&B’s?
In my opinion, 7/10. It’s all pretty easy except for a couple of junctures.
What makes Viper difficult is her Seismo game. That’s partly because there’s no secret to it. You just gotta play her and grind it out.
When you say Seismo game? what exactly do you mean. Give me a reference to execution, lets use Doom’s corner loop combo as an example and the Buktooth loop as another, how would rather them in terms of execution?
It’s not a combo, so I can’t really do that…
Seismo is, in mine and many others opinion, the very best move in the entire game. But that won’t be really apparent to you when you first start using it. It takes a while to come to grips with where and how to throw a Seismo.

BTW, what about the Seismo makes it so good? That you can put it anywhere on the screen quickly or what?
The main thing that makes it so great is that it’s jump cancelable, so you can cancel all of its ending frames into a jump as soon as the hitbox comes out. This may sound only moderately helpful, but then there’s jump cancel canceling…
If you already know how jump cancel canceling (JCCing) works, don’t read this paragraph. Basically, it take 2 frames (2/60 of a second) for a jump to come out once you’ve input it. During those two frames, you can cancel the jump into any special move by completing the inputs for said special move before those 2 frames conclude and you leave the ground. Basically, the end result is that you can cancel any jump-cancelable move (eg seismo) into another special move. In most cases, this is another seismo.

This jump canceling also results n some other cool things. You can JCC seismo into Focus attack… which can be immediately canceled into a dash. With quick fingers, you can do what we (inaccurately) refer to as her FADC in this game, essentially allowing her to cancel seismo into a dash.

So i think ive settled on Viper(Burn Kick)/Iron Man/Doom. The thing is im not sure what assists to go for doom and iron man. I know i will probably go with a beam assist for one but im not sure which beam. I think Unibeam would be awesome and then for Doom Hidden Missiles. But im also thinking of using plasma beam for doom and repulsor blast for ironman, Which configuration do you think would work better.

Definitely Iron Man(Unibeam)/Doom(Hidden Missiles). As another particular viper main on these boards who shall remain nameless has always said, dat unibeam allows for amazing hitconfirms off of seismo. Not to mention that repulsor blast doesn’t cover viper’s weak spot (above her) like hidden missiles does. Hidden Missiles also allows for unblockables, and really helps your zoning game.
Ah, so basically it becomes a safe pressuring tool anywhere on the screen when you use Jump Canceling.
I started playing around with her, I only got to mess around for about a half hour but I started getting the basics of the Box loop down. I like her but I can understand why people don’t play with her as much, she has many more opportunities to drop combos than some other characters. Just gotta grind it out, I think I will keep working on her in the lab till I’m ready to take her to a tournament.
I will have to work on the Seismo canceling, I’ve seen MarlinePie do that stuff. I’ve noticed he doesn’t do the more extended box loop combos, usually it’s only one or two reps max then he takes to the air.
BTW, Doom rocks will lock you down long enough for Lvl3 Focus attack.
That’s really interesting about Doom rocks - you think that could tilt the preferred Doom assist for Viper towards rocks from beam?
He does one rep of box loop to get a relaunch and get full screen. I’m surprised hes still trying to combo like before seeing that she can basically kill most characters by herself now with 1-2 meters without a relaunch. He still uses relaunches to get across the screen when… its not necessary anymore if you start a combo on the ground. Two TK feint’s into one box dash and air series gets you all the way across now. The last time I had seen him play he seemed to not try and explore Viper’s her easier TK feints. Relaunches IMO are dead for Viper.

Relaunches are still really good for Viper I think. I use the Hidden Missiles relaunch and get round 900k for one meter.
