I’m in the lab with Viper/Doom/Wesker and the results are good but your Doom has to be really good for this team to work.
I use Doom Molecular Shield Assist because it allows Viper to rush in, trap with lvl3 focus, extend combos, punish a blocked tron assist but it also helps wesker’s teleport mix ups as well. The issue with Doom on point is that he doesn’t really benefit too much from Viper or Wesker’s assist so I’m iffy on whether I want to keep Doom. On top of that Doom is a big liability on the team because he’s extremely technical to use. If you play rush down Viper/Wesker don’t help and if you play zoning they still don’t help. I’m on the fence on putting Amaterasu into the mix but it seems like I should because the synergy is good with a rush down Ammy. I’m also contemplating using Doom Plasma Beam assist because it causes a hard knockdown letting Viper and Wesker get in.
with liberation you can rush with viper and have a killl everything on hte screen button with the explosion. that explosion is stupid scary if you know what to do with it…
Creation mix is nice too i can do massive dmg witho meter from landing c.m,c.h xx seismo (square dash H,S) s.mp c.hp (helper Creation mix) SHO-SHO-SHO-SHO-SHO-SHO-SHO-SHO-SHO (meteors end) super dhc dorm (stalker flame) and prepare the next mix depending on match up tag viper back in while flame still hits
doom’s beam helps her get in and works well with dorm
The EX moves cost one bar of hyper meter. She doesn’t take damage when she uses them.
EX Thunder Knuckle has a little bit of startup invincibility and shoots through projectiles and causes a crumple.
EX Seismo has startup invincibility and causes three pillars to shoot, also makes the opponent fall.
EX Burn Kick is a combo extender.
Nice catch, in that case, the focus attack gives viper hyper armor while she is charging up, she still takes damage but wont go into hit-stun. She can dash out during the charge up stages similar to an sf 4 focus attack, but once you let go of the buttons she can’t dash cancel it anymore so please don’t whiff this attack. It comes in 3 stages, stage one seems pretty useless at the moment but it might be good paired with the right assist, stage 2 and 3 crumple on hit while stage 3 is unblockable.
Its a nice tool that I think will prove more and more useful as time goes by.
Definitely sticking with Zero/Viper, but still looking for a third. Taskmaster works, but I’d like to explore more options. Has anybody tried Tron with Viper? I saw a video (from the vid thread) of someone getting every hit of Burst Time and canceling it to Tron’s Lunch Rush. I’m guessing Tron’s flame assist would be ideal for both Viper and Zero. I want to test if it would allow me time when blocked to charge a lvl3 focus.
Every rushdown oriented character benefits greatly from Tron Gustaff Fire assist because it’s helpful both offensively and defensively but the issue is that Tron is usually placed as an anchor character and when she’s anchor she’s very one dimensional and loses out to zoning characters significantly plus j.H, j.S spam loses to good blocking, launchers, or normals that shrink hit boxes.
Personally, I don’t think Viper and Zero mix well on a team. You won’t have enough time to charge level 3 focus off of Gustaff Fire it doesn’t last long enough for it to work. Zero needs an assist where the left/right mix ups become applicable and the only reason why Sent drones is commonly used with his is because Sent drones are not a true block string so using left/right mix ups work well because there are gaps in the block string. Using an assist like Cold Star would not create the same situation because of absolute guard so your character choices seem limited to me.
I don’t really need an assist for mixups, mainly just to get in. Zero can mix up the opponent in a lot of ways by himself, the assist is just butter. If it can help with mixups that’s great, but I need to get in.
I tried Tron and while good Gustaff Fire isn’t what I’m looking for. I’d like a beam. Doom’s beam does a good job of clearing the way, but to be honest I don’t like him much. That leaves Task and Ironman, who has horrible DHC compatibilty with zero and Viper. So I think I may be looking at Zero/Viper/Task.
As for Zero and Viper mixing, I think they have thus far. Viper gets use out of Zero’s fireball and uppercut assists, while Seismo has it’s OTG properties (though Zero can OTG by himself), Burn Kick can help mixups if need be and Thunder Knuckle can be somewhat anti-air. Zero can DHC into both Burst Time and Emergency Combo. Viper can also DHC into Zero’s rainbow. Midscreen use Emerngency Combo, corner use Burst Time. Cancel right when Zero touches the ground. If you do it right, you’ll get every hit.
Hi guys… I dont like how my viper-ammy-tron team its making me play so im trying some variables… actually im whith viper-task-ammy but im not shure of ammy as a anchor… Do you guys think it would be better task as the last one?.. Or who its a good beam or projectile anchor for a viper on point? Thank you all in advance.
Im currently going with Viper(bk/tk)/Task(h-shot)/Dante(pillar). I rly like the team and the pressure/zoning i get from task/dantes assist. but daaamn i hate wesker, the guy with a beam assist totaly destroys everything i can do with viper…and even more with dooms beam that beats taskmasters assist clean. any1 got input how to handle wesker? i feel so locked down and his cr.M beats every normal i got >.<
if i zone i get beaten by gun+assist+teleport. even if i succed to block properly i get chipped to death, task/dante can handle him pretty well tho but I dont have a clue what to do with viper :[
The simple answer is rush that shit down. His defensive options are try to hit you with his crouching normals or his counter special and super, which is risky to use. All of these options can be beaten with her trijump pressure and in combination with your assists he’s not going to be able to deal with that kind of pressure. The zoning game is to his favor becuase of how fast and safe he can make his gun. Since you got Jam Session assist you can attempt to lock him down and then do level 3 focus to generate damage just have to understand when to time Jam Session to create the offense so push block doesn’t screw you over.
Marlinpie might be on to something with Ammy and Viper, really not a fan of two really pathetically low lifed characters but they work so well together, especially with how much your forced to respect viper. I really like Tron, but I rely on her too much, and I like Chun, but I don’t do well enough with her on point to make it worth my while.
I feel like there are a few good assists I’m sleeping on, so I might just go to the lab and work on some shit. For example, I switched Chun for Felicia on my Viper/Chun/Sent team, and actually found out that if you OTG with Seismo and do Felicia’s ball assist it causes a ground bounce if it hits an airborne opponent. Coupled with the fact that Viper cannot create a groundbounce on her own, and that its only one or two hits, I was getting an extra 50-100k of my BnB’s and still ending in about the same motions.
I particularly like it in conjunction with a ABC TK > EX TK > Box Dash 1 or 2 > Into either a BC relaunch, or a BC TK Burst Tiime, or a BC H TK Feint Burst Time.
Viper’s just so damn good, she’s going to blow up like Ammy did, especially on the East coast (Representing by the way.) I don’t like Mags and Viper as much as Marlin, but I put my Mags up to learn Viper. I’m going to look at Ryu and Thor as potential second studied with a Tatsu assist and the Might smash.
All three of her special moves are good, but I get the most mileage out of EX TK, even in lag or pressure I feel like I can segment the combos and I don’t trip over the motions when I get the crumple, the OTG, bounce, etc. Viper is too hard to learn if you play too fast at first, but you speed up a ton as you get comfy.
Viper/Ammy has been explored before it’s a really effective combination and both characters are solid on point but the weakness is that they’re two characters below 1 million health. I honestly don’t consider Viper’s health a drawback because 900,000 health is respectable enough.
Viper+Ammy Cold Star in the corner gets you 3 mix ups with trijumps, command overhead, lows, etc… You can simular the same mix up with Dante Jam Session and to a lesser extent Doom rocks.
You don’t need touch of death combos in this game if your team has great synergy all around you’ll be able to do well. JWong’s team can’t kill someone in one combo but the synergy and positional advantage the team leaves each other in makes up for it.
