I’m still liking Ghost Rider a whole lot. I don’t know how ultimate Iron Man will work out.

I got so damn salty when I found out in a match today that Wolverine’s mashed c.L goes under/beats EX thunder knuckle…

Just a quick question for those that play Viper with Doom:

What advantages does Rocks give to Viper compared to Beam? Or is Beam just better in every way?

I use doom with Missiles and save the beam for Magneto. I haven’t really messed around with rocks a lot of I couldn’t realy find a good use for them with viper on point. The risk/reward by having missiles is a lot better, doom is out for about the same time and completely vulnerable in both assists.

Beam is best for teleporting characters but that doesn’t mean Viper can’t make good use of it. it’s good for her midscreen zoning options imo because you’re basically protected by one of the most durable beams in the game while you go to work with your seismos. it also puts your opponent into blockstun long enough so that you can dash in for a quick high-low. I’m guessing here but since Viper is good at converting into damage off the most random hits, I suppose you could EX seismo into combo if your opponent gets hit by the beam.

Rocks is Doom’s more underused assist, as it’s a lower-tier lockdown assist. it’ll allow you to apply corner pressure and extend combos by chaining a couple of seismos. midscreen, not as good. if you’re gonna use it to advance like Guile following a jab sonic boom in ST/SF4, you would probably better off using Sentinel drones. if you wanna use Doom for the lockdown assist, use Ammy with Cold Star which is imo the best lockdown assist in the game.

I personally use missiles assist for the better zoning with both Mags and Dante, as well as some corner-only extended combos. up to you how you wanna go about using Doom in your team.

top 7 assists for Viper as of Vanilla:

Jam session: This tool gets rid of all of Viper’s bad match ups and that’s the main reason it’s such an amazing assist for her.
Hidden Missiles: Less form of Jam session as far as she wants to use it.
EM disruptor: Fastest horizontal assist in the game, great for combos and space control.
Cold Star: Unblockable and nigh unblockable mix up set up, also decent in neutral against certain characters.
Lariat Hard knock down is stupid.
Slant shot: Lets her get weird follow ups, good for combos, generally bloody scary.
Vertical Aim Master: Makes Viper among the best zoning characters in the game.

@Nissan:
I was dropping execution and that doesn’t matter when playing Taskmaster as much. He’s one of the easiest characters in the game who didn’t get massive changes to play style.

@Drew:
Viper is still the same though timing on combos will need to be adjusted thanks to how people move upward during hit stun now. Didn’t really get to play Magneto since I know they’re changing him more before release and didn’t want to put out any fraudulent information.

@Ultimate speculation:
Every new character and every new assist should be tried, a lot of them look potentially scary paired with Viper thanks to her ease of DHC out synergy and some have tools that will let you get her in like Strange with Grace of Hoggoth set ups or Firebrand with that amazing Fireball. Reserve judgement until you play everyone. :smiley:

As for Viper with Doom:
I prefer Doom missiles for neutral game but Doom rocks are nice in combos and cover annoying crouchers like Ammy unlike Beam.

You forgot unibeam. Does everything Disruptor does and also gets you confirms into full combos off fullscreen Seismo Hits. It a bit slower then disruptor though.

Does tatsu assist do anything for Viper? how about X-23 ankle slice?
I want to do Viper/X-23/Akuma… team certainly hits hard as hell no matter what order it is in but on paper it seems like the assist chemistry is pretty meh. Does Viper have holes big enough in her game she really needs one of those assists Chrisis listed above to compete? Or can she work indepdently of perfect assists?

Tatsu assist is good for Viper like for everyone else. Ankle slice is okay for her, but there are better lows in the form of Wesker and Felicia for supporting her unblockables.

As for assists Jam session is necessary in 3 match ups to make them in her favor, everything else is just to enhance the winning matches she already has.

Probly a nooby question, but…what does neutral game mean?

Hey Chrisis I know you used to use taskmaster with Viper. So I was wondering which arrow assist do you use for him when you paired him with viper or which is the best one to use. I saw you mention vertical assist but I already have dr. doom with hidden missiles and was wondering if it would be better to use horizontal arrows instead

Doom missiles isn’t the same at all. While tracking is great, the benefit to vertical arrows is the fact that it doesn’t track. It helps with her zoning game, a lot. Doom missles is basically just pressure and combos. Still really good, just not a replacement for vert. arrows.

okay so vertical arrows is a better choice compared to horizontal arrows? Also missiles can be really good for zoning. I played Drews Viper/Doom with my Trish/Sentinel and he was on point with seismo chaining so he wa able to stop by zoning with trish

Don’t take my word for this, but I get the feeling that it may be a better idea to use the beam if you’re going to use vert. arrows on tasky. She just really benefits from the beam, as well as the lockdown this beam in particular provides, and vert. arrows should cover most of the things you can do with missiles, you’ll just have to think more about when/where you use them

hmm i i tried but I couldnt get the same combos. Maybe its my execution. Im gona stick with missiles and il try horizontal arrows i gues see how that goes

Oh, yeah, combo wise it wouldn’t be the same, I was more talking for everything else.

Horizontal arrows are easy mode useful while Viper’s zoning with vertical arrows blows up every character without a projectile for close to free. Horizontal takes less effort to make good but I’m convinced that vertical is bloody scary.
