The think is I like hidden missiles and im wondering if with vertical arrows and hidden missiles would it really be a good combination because i think hidden missiles does everything vertical arrows do but better
Except, well, no…
The whole point of zoning is to control where your opponent can go by putting hitboxes in places of your choice; it’s not so much about damaging your opponent as it is about keeping them where you want them. Because vert. arrows has a fixed hitbox trajectory, you can use it to consistently control your opponents ability to move into that area, in this case, right around/infront of you. Hidden missiles, on the other hand, tracks your opponent. That’s not zoning. Your opponent can move wherever they want for the most part, with little consequence. No matter what they do, minus maybe a teleport or something with a lot of invincibility, the missiles will come into contact with a hurtbox, be it normal or blocking, so they aren’t limited in movement in the same way arrows does.
Hidden missiles is mainly good for filling in holes between things like with Taskmaster/Chris, with Viper it’s to enhance pressure you already have.
So anyone think No blocking on dash will hurt Viper? Up in SJ space I could see it hurting, but we have feints! most the time I do any dash its followed with an attack so I can’t say it will make too much of a difference. But only time will tell.
I think the chances of getting hit with a random hyper are greater especially since Viper players seismo, tri-dash forward, seismo as they work there way in. Other than that, I don’t see it being too much of a problem since I usually follow my air dash with an attack up-close. I also use double jumps and BK feints to make my way across the screen at SJ height
Also, don’t forget about how much it’s going to help her. Seismo zoning just got a crapton better. They can’t even safely airdash in anymore.
That plus her new beam will come in handy too to silence assists at full screen and just to cover the horizontal area in front of her.
The downside is that just like her opponents can’t air dash in safely, same thing goes for Viper.
accept she still has Seismo and assist coverage. You couldn’t jump at anyone naked in vanilla because her normals are iffy. So, if your playing right, it won’t even come up that much.
During a lot of her air dash animation she can’t block already, this is exceptionally obvious when you fight Amaterasu players and they use Ookami shuffle while you were air dashing. I don’t see the issue in this as much as potentially messing with her zig zag air dash down back speed.
now that vanilla is almost over, ive been messing around some other viper teams, what do u guys think of C.Viper/Zero/Akuma?
Zero and akuma have great synergy and idk if akuma can help vipèr in any way, but his assist is overall pretty good.
Akuma is amazing for Viper, awhile ago I was playing that team except with Dante instead of Zero and it worked out great, I have some hit confirms for Akuma in the combo thread.
calling akuma mid-combo w/ viper:
M + call akuma => H => M thunder knuckle => akuma juggle => dash up, HS => whatever air series you want
viper/akuma is def viable, zero/akuma is ridiculous. only thing would be finding a suitable zero assist to use with viper. i think shippuga is the easiest, just save it as a combo ender. sougenmu hadangeki is also amazing, but the drawback is you do have to get him in sougenmu first.
Shippuga is the easy mode assist for Zero, especially since while they’re blocking it they can’t move Viper backward regardless of what she’s doing. Sougenmu’d Hadangeki is amazing if you can set it up.
Hey guys, been thinking of Magneto/Viper/Spencer lately, anyone have experience with working Spencer’s slant grapple assist? I really like the grounding effect for mixup characters like Mag and Viper, and it seems pretty good so far after otg Seismo (at any length from what I can tell), but I’m wondering if it’s useful for post-snapback/kill scenarios. I’m pretty terrible with Dante and Ammy so at the moment this seems like my best option, or maybe Iron Man’s Repulsor Blast…
Except Viper and magneto an ToD everyone…
i mentioned viper with spencer’s slant grapple hook assist maybe last page or so.
if you want to relaunch, seismo sjc H thunder knuckle hit-feint as you call spencer.
outside of a combo, creating a seismo spam “wall” then luring the opponent into a grapple hook would be a good strategy. can’t remember everything i did at the time, maybe roll back a page or two? haha
@FlyingVe, I should’ve mentioned my execution is not the best so unfortunately the rom loop and more than one or two grav loops are not yet options for me, and this team has no access to a DHC glitch outside of XFC, as far as I know
@DJ well I just feel silly now, thank you much
Hmm, are you sure you know what the DHC glitch entails? It has nothing to do with X-Factor, nor does X-Factor add the ability to DHC glitch in any scenario.
One possible DHC glitch for that team would be any mags combo > hypergrav > Magnetic tempest > spender grapple hyper (i believe it would miss and you’d get the free combo off of it after).
Abacus means X-factoring something like Emergency Combination before it hits to initiate DHC glitch after hypergrav and the like.
Ahhh, gotchya. My bad. ^_^;
